#8 was a HUGE deal when it came out. Patented Cantilever suspension, tubular CAD chassis. She pretty much laid out the groundwork for all future monster trucks and the departure of old school straight frames and leaf springs. Might have been the first Bigfoot with a full fiberglass body too? Not sure on that one though.
Also, Andy Brass, Gene Patterson and Dan Runte are my top of the Bigfoot alumni. Grew up watching them in the 90s and the PENDA series.

Bigfoot #8 I think still has advantages to today's monster trucks in 2021. Such a supple ride, almost more like a baja truck than anything you'd see at Monster Jam. Truly phenomenal engineering from the Bigfoot team

I don't mind the talking, gives you a idea of what was being discussed. Plus I'm sure Bob wasn't like "you all be quiet, I'm trying to get all this on video!" It's raw and tell what was all going on during this era.

Well, Everett Jasmir and Scott Stephens lobbied to have #8 banned from competition and were partially successful but only for a few months I think. The funny thing is, they claimed Bigfoot #8 was such a radical departure from everything else in the field that it wasn't a fair competition, so Bigfoot brought #4 back to compete in #8's place and still mopped the floor with all of them while the officials made up their minds.

Number 8 with mufflers should have become the standard Bigfoot sound. No one else had anything like it -- sounds so much cooler than a traditional setup. As a kid, it's one of the things that hooked me on Bigfoot because it sounded futuristic.

I wonder how far along was the building process of #9 was cause this if I'm not mistaken this was late September of 1989 and #9 debuted some time in February of 1990. Then at the end of the 1990 TNT Series Bob had said that he had built a 3rd chassis which would have been for #10, but TNT was bought out and then Penda Series came along and #10 would eventually get a totally different design and that 3rd replica chassis of #8 & 9 would become later on Bigfoot #12. Goes to show that Bob had the plans after #8 to start rolling out these new stage 3 trucks.

  • @RailStalkerAdventures

It was a damn shame that TNT Motorsports had to put this truck on the shelf for two months after the two shows when they battled out in Albuquerque 32 years ago on TUFF TRAX. Scott Stephens of King Krunch was against this deal going on and he voiced his disdain for the switch on the TUFF TRAX season opener and the rest of the 1990 season and as I watch that crazy action now 32 years later here on CZcams, I'm like get the heck over it already!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With this truck being restored and getting the finishing touches I seen on Bigfoots Facebook page a post of the next project.🤔 When it was announced many years ago about Bigfoot 22 being a 3rd Concussion chassis I was like cool. Now after seeing that post it really had me like 🤔 cause it was just a chassis with no shock towers or a roll cage. Bigfoots 18 and 21 came with all that so I'm curious to see what next for this new project.

Used for many years with different bodies. The engine blew years ago and they put it into storage. However, since the fall they pulled it out and have been restoring it, follow Bigfoot on facebook and instagram, plenty of pictures of the progress. As of right now, it doesn't have an engine and transmission yet, but it has a freshly painted Starr Creations 87-91 F-Series Fiberglass body with the racer stripe scheme that really made it famous.
