Do you recommend the AB5200 V2, the blacking, or the AB4100...Money being no object. Once you add the adjustable post to the 5200 and the blackwing are the same money. Definitely plan on using your Link!
I got this titan bench. Primarily because of price. I am absolutely in love with it. The grip is amazing and it is very sturdy. I will own this thing forever
The Bench King is back! Please tell us you don't plan on sawing your whole bench collection in half for the bench comparison video!?? Seems like a pretty good contender in the market. Still very happy with my 5200 V1. P
This summer I ordered a complete rack, bench and weights in one order for my home gym. I liked Titans stuff but their benches sucked at the time so I went with REP because I could get everything I needed from the one place at a decent price. I probably would have gone with Titan if this bench was released back then.
Last month I picked up a rep blackwing thanks to your review. I went with the wide pad to try it and have no regrets! Great bench. I probably would have been just as happy with the ab5200 v2 but I like that I can add the foot roller pads to the blackwing in the future
@@AnontheGOAT I am average 5‘9“ with normal shoulders so you might be good. If I could go back in time, I would want a 14 inch flat bench and 12 inch wide pad on the Blackwing.
As somebody who bought a fully kitted out home gym from rep a couple years ago (including an AB-5000), I have spent the last year or so filling in the gaps with Titan equipment since they're usually cross-compatible being 'metric 3 inch' systems. In most cases I was satisfied with the Titan gear 'for the money' as it was usually on par with Rep or a trivial step down in quality (with savings to justify it). This Titan Series Adjustable bench however is the first thing I've bought from Titan that in my opinion is BOTH better than my Rep equipment AND less expensive. I realize my Rep AB-5000 and this bench aren't direct competitors since the rep is designed to be used as a decline bench too, but still, on the Titan I found the pad grip and comfort far superior, the bench is noticeably more stable and rigid, it's far easier to adjust, and I think it looks and feels more premium. And it goes for $450 vs the $600 I paid rep for their bench (it has since dropped in price). Oh, also I love the long back pad length, and even at 6'0" I have no problem benching entirely from the back pad, making the gap and hinge area a non-issue for me (plus I have the AB-5000 if I really want 'zero gap'). Keep up the great work, Gluck.
To be fair the 5000 is 5 or so years old and being discontinued. It's also a different style of bench being a pop pin vs a ladder. Your version would have a gen 1 or 2 rep vinyl and pad vs their newer stuff which is much nicer. It's what's on the 5200 2.0 in this video.
I’m a huge fan of REP’s products. Their quality and pricing is the best on the market hands down. I own the BlackWing and am very pleased with it. Titan has certainly stepped their game up and should now be a contender when considering a purchase. I am looking at their hack squat leg press combo for my next purchase. Thanks again for the great review. Keep’em com’n. All the best!!!!
Their prices are decent but they are starting to get to a point where do I spend a bit more on a Rogue made in America product vs a Rep made in China product.
this is the video imma reference when i design my new bench for my new employer. Posting this for reference when i hopefully talk them into getting you to do a review.
Another fantastic review! Been on the fence between the 5200 2.0 and MantaRay for months while also eyeing a purple 4100! Excited for the monster bench showdown video, and happy to see Titan’s quality improving
Another very thorough review, Gluck. Thank you. In the Battle of the Benches review, please add the Straydog Alpha Bench and Surplus Strength Aegis as competitors on the high end. Very interested in your views on the these made in the USA products.
Great review as usual and Titan is critical in the industry for those decent quality without spending a ton. It's great middle ground. The Manta Ray is just way too expensive IMO
I bought the Titan Elite FID bench from their scratch and dent page about a month ago. The FID is a great bench for the price. The only downside of the bench is that the wheels included to move it "suck" and I still need to replace them with something different from the hardware store. The bench is 11 gauge and can hold 1000lbs at a price less than $300. I would suggest getting the FID rather than the adjustable one.
I have no need for a new bench, but I enjoyed watching this anyway. The Titan bench looks great. My flat bench is over 400, and my incline is regularly over 275, and I have learned to appreciate some of the nuanced differences between benches on heavy lifts. I think ANY of these would be great for almost anyone. Titan is still behind Rep and Rogue in general, but it is clear to see that they have improved their quality and product development/engineering. I want to see what you say about all those new bars Titan put out. Rep makes my favorite bars and I had high hopes for the new Titans, but NONE of them are offered in stainless. 😥 Also, Gluck, I want to know what bench YOU USE? What is your daily driver? With all your options, I want to know your preference, not just your in-depth review.
Generally I will defer to Rogue for a lot of stuff but man that Manta Ray is crazy expensive. And I'm not sure it's 2x as good as a Rep bench given it's almost 2x the price. This is coming from a pretty big Rogue fanboy.
Our top 3 daily users are The 4100 because it's all Wynie will take out, the Manta Ray, and the 5200 2.0. There's a ton of other good benches but hands down that's our top 3 based on what we need. Our Titan bar review is probably still a little ways out so I can test all of them thoroughly enough but I feel like they're a little hit or miss. Thanks for the watch! I appreciate that level of support. It means a lot to us!
Rep really is the sweet spot on benches. Really good quality for a fair price. I've had a FB5000 for almost 5 years and there is not real reason to replace it. Their fat pad isn't as nice as a Thompson but it's close.
13:03 is the butt pad on backwards? 😂 Love the reviews!! My ab 5200 gen 1 has already started to tear a bit on the fabric even though I don’t use it for step ups or anything.
I’ve seen a few people say that Titan copied REP’s vinyl but the Hefty vinyl predates the CleanGrip by a few years. I remember trying it out at least 3 years ago and liked it enough to consider replacing my Thompson Fat Pad with a Titan Hefty Pad.
I love Titans equipment because of the price. I have other name brand in my gym but I just love a good deal. And think of these, they do have some nice pieces to get now they have awesome bench. That what Titan been doing these for years. Ya Titan!!
I feel like this bench should get more praise. The closest comparison should just be the 4100 For 50 more you’re getting a full size bench with a 300 lb increased weight capacity (flat). With extra seat adjustments, that’s welded together rather than bolted, includes more UHMW than the 4100, has a grippier pad, more premium looking knobs and almost comes entirely assembled out of the box. I don’t even own anything Titan but I feel like for 50 dollars more; that seems like a pretty substantial amount of upgrades. I’m not knocking the 4100; it’s a excellent bench but if we were comparing it to every other bench It delivers the specs of every comparable high end bench at a price as good as the best budget bench. I’m sorry but fk man; throw a dog a bone. 🦴 Great job Titan.
I'm trying to do my research and I am between Rep AB4100 and Titan Series Adjustable. I am looking at the spec sheet on their site for Titian's bench and they seemed to have updated the product weight to 92 llbs. instead of the 120 lbs. listed in your video. I am torn between the two benches because I want something that is maneuverable for more people in my household but durable. The 30ish pound discrepancy/change on their site is also confusing me.
I recently ordered the Giant lifting FID bench, thought about rep, even considered major lutie….but the colors on the Giant one convinced me. I don’t see a lot out of Giant Lifting. Worth it?
I have been on the fence between this and the AB-5200, and honestly I think for what I need, this is going to be my choice. I don't need/want decline so I may as well save the $100+ dollars.
To be clear the 5200 2.0 is the better of the two. It doesn't do anything Titan's doesn't (if you're not going to decline and don't care about finishes or a wide pad) but it's the more refined of the two. That being said this if you can get past the high hinge and moving it it's pretty solid.
@@GlucksGym It’s not 1:1 though. This bench is half an inch shorter and the pad is 1/4 inch thicker with more cushion. I’ve never used the 5200 but I’ve benched on 17.5” benches and it matters. Sadly, Titan will never be perceived as equal in quality to REP, just as REP will never be perceived as equal to Rogue, no matter what any of the companies do, their quality levels are set in stone for now with Rogue no. 1, REP no. 2, Titan and BOS no. 3. It will take a lot of time and a lot more pieces of new equipment to be made and improved on before any change occurs to the order of the companies as far as quality is concerned . Titan waited too long before they put out any good quality pieces so they earned their name and now no matter what they do,, they will be thought of as 3rd place at best. BOS maybe 3rd and Titan might be 4th. Perceivably, Titan is making better quality pieces and they are going backwards in the order on a quality list of companies. Wonder how many people will not buy this bench because it has Titan laser cut and stitched all over it?
I'd go with the 4100 because my wife likes it so much. We move our benches a lot and the high hinge is another miner annoyance that make me pick the 4100. Titan's is a beefier bench but idk how much that matters to you.
Thanks so much for the quick response! One more question if that’s okay would you get the 4100 or the 5200 2.0? At this point isn’t trying to find the best long term option.
