Given emerging data, I'm very pessimistic what GLP-1 RA drugs will do to the users in the long run. I hope I'm not right, but I fear we will see massive adverse effects. The weight loss isn't sustainable when the meds are stopped being used as well. And it's a very pricy drug.
The data of lean tissue loss is frightening. And there might be some damaging effects on mitchondria, too if I'm not mistaken. Yet antoher band aid and shortcut, instead of a needed dietary intervention.

It will be well worth watching this unfold.

My issues with use of these drugs (in addition to those discused): 1. demand being driven by direct-to-consumer marketing (never forget that this ISNT the rule in much of the world) and 2. They're facilitating the time-poor, easy/lazy, 'just throw a prescription at it' bad medicine

The fact that you need medicatios which have side effects to treat side-effects of other medication is crazy and shows that these medication don't fix the problem but do fix only symptoms...

      It’s the perfect business model.
Keep them sick and screw money out of them. They were on my payroll, now zero drugs after 11 years.
Lion/Carnivore 4 months ago changed my life drastically. Dropped from 38kg from 154kg. I feel great, mentally and physically.

It's typical that establishment doctors prescribe these meds to patients. It's such a lazy way of fixing a medical problem. It's not even really fixing anything but kicking the can down the road with potential worse problems in addition because of side effects. Always lean towards a healthy diet first and lifestyle change. Never wait for the studies to come out because more than likely you would be dead or in serious condition by the time the studies were completed.

Hey. Can you take Wegovy and antipsychotics (Olanzapine and aripiprazole)?

There are doctors who use those medications together, but of course, the safety and efficacy is different for each individual.

I DO NOT believe these drugs are safe for people who have mental conditions ( bipolar, depression, anxiety). I took my 6th injection last week. My mental health has plummeted. I had to see my psychiatrist yesterday. Mentally, I was doing great before I began taking Ozempic. The first issue was my sleep. I would wake up every 3 hrs.and when I was sleeping, I experienced TERRIBLE dreams. The physical symptoms I was having were some nausea and headache. I was letting my therapist, who I see every two weeks, know my issues with it each time. I felt my mood decling, and a feeling of anxiety and worry began. Over the last weekend depression was over my head like a dark cloud. I felt a little psychotic. My brain feels like it is literally ill. My psychiatrist told me to stop the injection pronto. She called my PCP who prescribed it. I feel like absolute shit. I am feeling fearful and like my head is swimming. I am just going to cut carbs for weightloss, this is definitely NOT worth it. I am a wreck right now. I pray this won't last long. 😢 She said the FDA didn't study the effects on mental health enough before it was approved for weight loss and diabetes. Just be aware of this.
