Popliteus Tendon Evaluation [Back of the knee pain]

- Popliteus tendon issues are quite common and hard to evaluate.
👉The popliteus tendon originates at the lateral femoral chondyle and goes inferior and medial to attach at the posterior medial and proximal tibia.
👉It helps to unlock the knee when in full extension
👉It also helps with tibial internal rotation
Remember, the hamstrings cross this area and the popliteus also has some fibrous attachment to the lateral meniscus.

I have this injury from a mountain bike fall
I'm trying massaging it
But this video pin pointed my leg injury
Thank you😊
Excellent troubleshooting skills👈🙏. After 1 year and No troubleshooting where the pain is from my doctor's at Kaiser they just gave me a cortisone shot every 4 months I finally had enough of these doctors and went to the CZcams doctors to search how chiropractors fix knee issues and found several videos. My wife followed exactly how you did it and I found out it was that area and now it's fixed after one year of pain fixed in 10 minutes.
I can't thank you enough and may God bless you forever❤👈🙏
Thanks for sharing this test!
You are welcome Andrew!
Helped to get ride of the main pain from my back knee straight away. Many thanks!
How, all he was doing was performing a test?
Was it his voice?
In 2020 September im had an ACL reconstruction. I then started physio therapy around the 3rd of December. 2/3 months later so around March, I was sprinting and then hyperextend my operated knee. Ever since then iv having pain toward the back right side of my knee. Iv done an MRI scan they said nothings torn. The pain isn’t going away though.
Not to be a dick. But don’t you think three months is a way too soon to be returning to activity after SERIOUS knee surgery? That ligament. Literally allows you to cut jump and run. This scares me. But damn. Three months after surgery ? I would be babying the fuck out of it.
Hi Dr. this video is exactly what I need!! My PT will not focus on what I’m trying to tell him as it relates to my knee. But I will use your video as a reference - hopefully it will help.
Thank you!❤
Did it help
Hy Doctor i have same that one on the video where can i get help to fix my knee
This is the worst injury I ever had before track and field and I missing track meets already plus this is my last year of highschool :(
Well, I definitely have this. What do I do now?
i alreasdy knew I had this. what exercises help this? what remedies are there?
What’s the treatment
Man, I've had ACL replacement, and meniscus stitched. A year later they just shaved medial and lateral meniscus. And I thought I was ready I felt great other than a slight pain/discomfort with full flexion. Like I couldn't sit on my shins/feet with my knees bent. I should have thought about that more when I started riding bikes. I took a really slight fall. Slipped the bike out, but you know how a fall can go. I just crunched up into a ball so I can slide out with the bike. No crazy initial pain but I tried getting up and there was pain in the back of my knee when I extend to about 10 -15 degrees. I was able to slowly get it all the way extended but I couldn't bare any weight. Now I'm walking around "mindfully" but going down stairs or internally rotating my leg at various degrees of flexion will hurt and bring that pain when trying to fully extend
What is your condition now. Is it cured
I understand the problem but what is the best way to solve it?
When I sleep and that leg is straight in my sleep, I move to roll over and Omgosh the pain is excruciating for about 30 seconds then slowly backs off till I can bend it. I try not to sleep with it straight but sometimes idk. But mine is only at night
Hello doctor, how are you? I want to talk to you about the injury that happened to me behind the knee. I think it is the popliteus muscle.
So what do we do about it?
Sir I feel pain in bending knee at same position but after 1/1.5 km of walking
I have something at the back off my knee that feels like it pops out of place is there anything that u could think it could be?
Perguntas inutils. Eu sou encima de 54 anos. Estou satisfeita com meu corpo. Acho até perfeito. Só estou curiosa o que voce tem a dizer!
I want to know about a similar pain but on the other side (inside) of the knee
This is exactly what I wanted to ask as it's the inner side of leg for me that I'm getting pain
Kindly note one thing. Text is coming in front of the leg demonstration. How would one see what u r doing.
So what is the therapy for this?
Look it up
So what's the cure!?!?
I was at a handball practice and I don’t really know what happened but I guess I kind of sprained my back knee or some sort of idk. Or atleast my trainers told me that I might have sprained something. I went to the ER and they did an X-ray of my leg. They said negative and everything was fine but the next day I got a sharp pain at the back of my knee again. Last time I could walk but now I can barely move my leg. Should I be concerned?
Updates pls
Hey doc, I'm 14 and was playing basketball and rolled my ankle completely and heard a very loud pop while down off a rebound. I went to fast pace and they asked me some question and did a x-ray. It was negative and they just gave me a bandage thing and a splint. Should I be concerned still? I'm really worried because of the popping sound. Should I get an mri?
I would follow with your family provider and possibly see an orthopedic surgeon to determine the severity
@@OrthoEvalPal I can't get my parents to do anything their saying it's just a normal sprain, they telling me it's not serious enough for that. I know what I seen, i know the noise it made, and I know the numbness and ability to move it when it first happened. Only If I had smart parents.
@@troyroark9475 Okay now I'm curious, did you get this figured out?
@@troyroark9475 update?
Hey doc, i had an issue with my back knee and it is so swollen everytime i walk, run i still feel the pain. then i go x-ray but the doctor said it doesn’t have fracture but it is till hurts… what should i do doc?
I would try to meet with a Physical Therapist for an evaluation
Hey I also have the same experience, I have trouble walking long distances and running. I haven’t been able to run in a year. I went to get an X-ray and they said the same thing. When I went to seek physical therapy the exercises they gave me ended up hurting still giving me pain. Has your pain gotten any better?
I have had my fibula head cramp up and lockup with pain felt behind my knee on many occasions How can I get rid of this pain I have had this issue for 2 years.
Definitely need to see a PT for this. Could be several causes.
Hello Doctor im 20 years old and can barely walk right anymore. Recently something happened to me not even sure what, but now I cannot fully extend it without pain. Really hoping it’s nothing serious. I tried going to a doctor a couple weeks ago and they told me it would get better in a week now fast forward im in more oain then ever before. I am so tired of trying to find a doctor that actually wants to help me and not just get me in and out of there office. If you have any insight anything is helpful as I can barely walk to my college classes. Thank you for hearing me out.
Have you seen an orthopedic specialist yet? If not, you need to. Sounds like you might need an MRI.
Hi Dr,my son of 2years sudden develop pains at the back of the knees and he has start leeping the leg please what should I do
I wake up fine but after a 30 minutes of sitting the back of my knee is killing me ! Almost like my foot is asleep. And I passed those two test with no pain !?! Exercise helps ! Is this a different muscle problem? Thanks!
I have the same thing!
The back of knee pain definitely gets worse after sitting (I often experience that after driving)
have any of you find a solution to this?
@@vriheddsapper1435 it just seemed to go away! It’s always something!
And how does this help any of us.
Sure helped me
It's a diagnosis it helps orthopedics, athletic trainers have a rest to identify what structures you damaged that's how
