A book fanatic friend of mine just started reading "Endymion" after reading the first two Hyperion novels and he has been completely blown away by Simmon's writing. He wondered out loud why Dan Simmons wasn't a bigger deal in the sci-fi/fantasy community. I really couldn't answer that, I think Simmons is outstanding and I've been reading his stuff since I bought the first Hyperion book back in the early 90s. I suppose he is like Gene Wolfe or Guy Gavriel Kay in that regards - an awesome writer but just never destined to blow up in terms of fame or popularity....
Please no. Hyperion/Endymion are too good to be made into a tv show which would have a high chance to tarnish the reputation of Hyperion. I don't want that.
Love Carrion Comfort. Drood and Black Hills are fantastic too. Then there is his Hyperion series - up there with Dune with world building. Liked The Terror but found the end underwhelming.

It's really about time that 'Hyperion' was made into a film/TV show.

So far Hyperion Cantos series is all I have read by Him. I will read more, because I Loved those.👍😁👍

I tried to read his the terror and didn't like it. The idea was good but it was too slow to get going and too long.
