Important to note, the one who doesnt wear a belt also becaomes a danger to other passengers
Same for cargo that isn't secured

The bruises or possibly broken clavicle is WAY better than death. Trust me people. A seatbelt saved my life in a rollover
Same thing, if not seatbelt, i would have broken neck or be dead. Also rollover (few times).
Same here, it was more of a crash and flip but I still would’ve been thrown out and crushed if I didn’t wear my seatbelt.
I crashed into a tree with an old 80s car, the seat belt definitely saved me from being ejected and i was not injured.
They take plenty of lives aswell
@@ChillEchoVibeun belted roll-over will certainly leave a big dent on you. You must break a bone and if you get ejected out of the vehicle, you risk getting crashed. This is why I always wear the seat belt
Nobody needed an ambulance after that one, the passengers on the right walked away, the bodies of the passengers on the left side will go home in bags.
In bags that aren't airbags.
‘Nobody needed an ambulance.’ That’s a good way to sum this up.
Ummm actually they aren’t real people and fake dummy doesn’t need andalance
Lol, @ 40mph an ambulance is definitely needed! Neck braces, facial reconstruction some skin surgery, tons of headache and painkillers and 8 weeks recovery in order. Now at 60mph there is still a need for an ambulance, for the seat belt wearing passengers!
@@thabzmad7265 that crash was at 40 km/h (25 mph) - which is a walk-away event in a modern car. They might want to call a taxi to go to urgent care afterwards but it's not an emergency.
Great video and this is only at 40 km/h speed so we can simply imagine if it happens on high speed.... Everyone must watch it once to understand the importance of seat belt.

There's seatbelt clips you can buy so they can't lift them or at least struggle more. They are pretty cheap.

A head restraint would be very effective too, but not very practicle, in that strapping yourselve in would be far too time consuming. Racing drivers use them, and have double shoulder belts. If there was some sort of a practicle head restraint, this would cut down on the amount of whiplash injuries.
As a rally driver I've thought the same. When I get back into a normal car after a event, I miss the snug, super safe feel of 6point belts, hans (head and neck support) and winged seats. But yeah, as you say that takes about a minute to set up and adjust when you climb in.
Just keeping stock belts tight helps a lot.
That's the point of the airbag...
Yep, meanwhile i get laughed at for being an adult who wears a seatbelt in the backseat
Good on you for using your brain! I never understood the .no seatbelts needed in the rear' logic. In a cillision is the rear or the car is at te same scene of the collision as the front!
@@TRPGpilot Very true. And as a kid, I had a friend who was in a wreck and went through the windshield from the backseat. She had lots of stitches on her legs, and face.
Crazy right?!
What the unbelted test doesn’t take into consideration is a real person, versus a test dummy, would use the strength in their arms and legs to actively keep themselves from going forward. Using their outstretched arms to brace themselves against the dash, for example.
Whether safety belt should be fastened is a question that's no longer asked in Europe. Why is it still asked in the US?
Time for thinking
in past time during discovery of vehicle Issues of safety was not well know to drivers and passenger so there where losing of life of passenger and drivers but now data tatu of death of passenger and drivers is less as before
Now we need to see passengers with or without suspenders!

Are u pose to lock the strap that’ goes across the chest?
How do you mean lock it?
No, it locks itself when it gets pulled fast such as in an accident

And this is with Grandma driving (40kmh)
Looks like a passenger in the back with a seatbelt still might break their neck.
Cyrus Mistry
But idk why in my country, it's not mandatory for the back passenger to use the seatbelt.
Back seat still get whiplash with seat belt.need airbags in theback
And still the people riding around motorcycles without helmets who failed physics in school go unbelted in cars. Darwin effect works too slowly.
Now do one with people that are driving with dogs in their laps.

Hello! My name is Yan Felix. I’m a Physic’s student of Rio de Janeiro’s Federal Institute in Brazil. I’m writing my final paper about Momentum and Impulsive Forces using crash tests. So, I chose this video as object of analysis. I’d like to know if someone can tell me the model of the vehicle used in the filming. Along the final paper I will include the page in the bibliography, write acknowledgment and a formal citation.
Holden Commodore
That's how Diana and Dodi died. Too important to wear seat belts.
Too much in a rush to buckle them up to be fair.
I was expecting to see the unbelted dummy fly through the windshield.
Are we there yet??
Not yet!
Très intéressant
And this is why you wear your seat belt
So don’t you be a dummy, buckle up!
I tried to use this to make my little cousin wear her seat belt 😭
Okay, now can we see what happens when you wear a seat belt, but crash into a body of water?
Oh! you are 'one of those' . . .
You unbuckle your seatbelt.
Tada!
@@ec23472 Depends on the make of the car's seat belt, just as it depends on what model and what car.
Your best option is unbuckle it and open the door as quickly as possible. Everyone knows if it goes under you have to wait until the pressure equalizes, thing is, that only happens 30 seconds - 1 minute after the car has come to a rest on the bottom. As soon as you can, unbuckle and get that door opened. Problem is often cars turn turtle when they hit the water and end up upside down it’s very disorienting. But your car is airtight enough that even if it’s upside down it will float on the surface for a few minutes. Just get out as quick as possible.
U will also kill the person in front of u if ur not wearing it 0:12
or hurt them anyways I doubt that was fatal
@@redtra236 i guess thats a bit of a gamble if the head from the back hits the one in the front but at anything faster than 40kmh your spinal cord will feel something special haha

Crash test - people who understand intertia vs those who don't
Doesn't it break the neck when crash while wearing seal belts ?
let me fix your comment for you. "Doesn't it break the neck during a crash if you wear a seat belt?"
If they were this dangerous in the modern day then the safety companies would force car companies to improve safety of their cars.
No, maybe some old cars(or people who might have health problems related to bones and other stuff, not a doctor so don't quote me on that) actually could because of their poor safety ratings, but no way modern cars that follow today's standards would ever break person's neck.
No seatbelts only break your collarbone if it’s a hard enough hit. Airbags however can break a child’s neck cause they are designed to stop an adult humans face not some small grape boy that’s why most places have a rule for backseat until you are 12.
honestly, with how comfortable seatbelts have become, I see literally no reason to NOT have your seatbelt on. don't even say you forgot because your car will tell you, less it be a pre 2000's car or you placed it in the buckle. but even then, you should know better, driving around a metric ton of metal at speeds we humans are not made for.
seatbelts save lives and I speak from personal experience
My dolls every 2 days be like
Wow how compelling. I will definitely wear a seatbelt. However, it is wrong to have some law that allows the enforcement of seatbelts through demand of monetary compensation or threat of kidnap and violence should some individual choose not to enhance their own personal safety while driving.

Air bags have always been a supplement to wearing a seat belt. This illustrates that fact nicely.
Not exactly. US airbags are required to restrain an unbelted passenger at a minimum 25 mph (FMVSS 208 S5.1.2). They were made larger, more powerful and were therefore more expensive than European airbags. The downside was that the high forces caused injuries, which lead to development of two-stage and smart airbags. While you absolutely need to wear a seatbelt, to this day, the unbelted occupant requirements remain in the US.
Not true in the 70s they were marketed as an alternative

The good import crash test👍
A certain passenger of mine always refuses or argues with me about wearing a seatbelt in the backseat of my truck. always brings up other laws in another state. constantly wears the seatbelt with the strap behind them, not in front of them. i constantly have to remind my passenger: PUT ON YOUR SEATBELT PROPERLY. Unless they want to fork over $250.00 for improper seatbelt use (which falls on the driver, not passenger) The Driver (me) will not be happy.
If they can’t follow your rules, then don’t let them ride in your vehicle.

more displacement doesn't mean more injury.. The neck of the backseat belted dummy seems to kink at a scarier angle.
I'm finding a more convincing video
Front passenger punches a dent in that laminated windscreen though ;)
@@G-force_Motorsport good point. Need to test a more breakable dummy to guesstimate and compare the damage between the two scenarios.
@@theeraphatsunthornwit6266I'm sorry if you think this video is inconclusive you're insane. Both unbelted passengers are severely injured, front left is almost certainly crushed between the seat and airbag and back left is thrown into the windshield at 20kph. There's a lot more neck movement in dummies than in real people, you can see that in the belted and unbelted passengers; dummies are intentionally a bit floppier at the neck so forces can be more easily estimated from video. And even if the front passenger was buckled they would still be severely injured by the unbuckled passenger behind them. And I think it's needless to say the belted passengers are far better off than either of the ones not wearing one. They won't even need to go to the hospital, whereas the people on the left side would be lucky to end up in a hospital.
