Why You Should Warm Up Your Motorcycle/Scooter Before Riding? | How To Properly Warm Up Your Bike?

  • It is crucial that you let your motorcycle or scooter warm up before riding it as it will have a profound effect on the performance and safety. There are a lot of seals and rings inside the engine that require oil circulating at optimal temperature. Warming up a motorcycle allows that oil to circulate efficiently.
    Cars and motorcycles are very similar in how you are supposed to warm them up, but with both cars and bikes, people don’t know how to properly do it. How have you seen it done in the past? Have you just sat the motorcycle on the kick stand, turn it on and let it sit and idle until the RPM sounds more controlled? Or have you started it and blipped the throttle so that everything on it gets moving?
    Warming up your motorcycle before riding it means that you will get the oil operating at it’s optimal temperature which, in turn, means the motorcycle will be able to naturally cool itself down much easier while it is in motion. Riding without properly warming it up could mean premature part failure on different components of the bike.
    How To Properly Warm Up Your Motorcycle:
    First, we start the motorcycle upright and let it idle (not on the kickstand). Keep in mind we aren’t just going to let it sit here, so don’t go off to do something else.
    The second step is to make sure that your motorcycle is able to recognize and respond to throttle input. Sometimes if we begin to roll the throttle, the bike doesn’t respond, or it doesn’t respond smoothly. If this is the case just give it another minute. What we are looking for is that when we roll on the throttle (very briefly and only to about 2 or 3 thousand rpm), the bike responds well and doesn’t stall.
    The third and final step is that once the motorcycle’s throttle is responding well, go ahead and get your leg over it and get it on the road. Once it’s on the road doesn’t mean that our bike’s fully warmed up, but we’re almost there. When you’re on the road, give your motorcycle some time to warm up before you accelerate hard. Keep the rpm’s low, and be gentle on the throttle as you cruise around.

    नहीं ना पहले हम उठकर बैठते हैं फिर खडे हो जाते हैं फिर आराम से चलते हैं

    Your advice on warm-up is true for vehicles which are 10 or 15 years old. Modern vehicles using modern oil don't need that kind of warm-up. 20 seconds is good enough to start riding. Only thing to keep in mind is to ride at low RPMs until engine reaches optimum temperature ~80°C.

    while running at very low rpm for long time engine accumulates more carbon deposits. That's the reason why engines tends to malfunction more in heavy traffic. Just put on your helmet start your bike and ride it gently for a few hundered metres and then you do whatever you like. Do not treat a 2020 engine like a 1970's engine, it will do more harm than good.

    • @aspinaki
      @aspinaki Před 3 lety +1

      you are absolutely right. and starting bikes in tilted position does not matter also. warming up in the cold morning for 1 minute is way enough to run the bike. It will not harm the engine at all.

      @sierrachief117 Před 2 lety +1

      True. If you have a less than 500cc bike india, try to hit the top speed of the bike sometimes. It will help to clean the exhaust and clear a y sludge buildup. Engines that are not revved properly develop sludge. To counter that, ride hard till the redline
