    Randomly came across this vid and you are the only one who has given a true representation of this powder!!!! I’ve got it when it came out and it’s def not a setting powder yet everyone is demo’ing it as a highlighter - use it as a setting powder on a vid like it’s meant to be so we can see what it’s all about and I’m so glad you did. Only true one out there who’s not sucking up to brands.

  • @LBDBeauty
    @LBDBeauty Před 6 lety +55

    I'm surprised that this is marketed as a setting powder. Even in the brand's demo video, they apply it like a highlighter. I swatched it in store and, in my opinion, it's a loose highlighter. It's very pretty.

    So happy you did this review, I thought it was a setting powder that would give you a glow not like a sunbeam bouncing all over your face, ha ha. I’m sticking with my Hourglass powders for a glow. This is why we love you so much, you just saved me some $$, taking it out of my Sephora basket.😘

      BlingBea Dowdy I just removed it from my basket too lol but I don’t know what Wayne thinks it’s so marvellous for then ... not as good as a highlighter and can’t be used all over ... hmmm ... anyway, what powder by Hourglass do you use all over for a glow? (I’m assuming there are different powders? I’ve never bought Hourglass) ... sorry to bug ya ... sounded like you’ve found what I was hoping this powder would be!

    • @BlingyBea
      @BlingyBea Před 5 lety

      Abby Bainton yes it does, I use it as my last step before applying my setting spray. They have the mini sizes you can purchase to try it before you buy the bigger size. I’ve had my big size for over 2 years.

    It looks like a more natural glow compared to the current trend of tinmanesque highlighting all the kids seem to love.
    Im always in the market for that softer highlighter, cause my skin is too textured to pull off harsher highlights.
    This seems more like illuminator, which is what I prefer.

    I was almost ready to buy this product, but then saw Wayne's review, and I am glad I did. I do not want shiny skin after putting on my powder overtop of my foundation. I also don't want my skin to look dry (which it does after I use Translucent powder). I just can't seem to find a happy medium where a setting powder keeps my skin ( on my forehead) from looking oily without also looking to white. The search continues.

    I bought this a month or two ago and agree, it looks like a loose highlight. I bought it for setting under my eyes, had the sales girl apply it under my eyes in the store but it was at night and the lighting made it look crazy. I still bought it because I can always return it but when I set my Undereyes it looked weird on its own. I had to apply it all over my face and it's very interesting. Can't figure out if I like it or not but this video is inspiring me to try it out tomorrow!

    I love that you mention how you don't think the gold undertone of the flow product would work as well b really fair skinned people. Silver always looks better against my skin because I have cool undertones - and everyone else who's tested this product has warmer undertones that look amazing with gold. So thank you - THAT information was the most helpful to me!!! I think it's better for me to stick with a highlighter and my usual setting powder than to spend money on a product that ultimately won't work well with my coloring. I remember you made a video about putting a matte blush on top of highlight and it gives a glow from within look. I wonder if this product could do the same, except in the places you apply bronzer and blush. I wouldn't set the centre of my forehead with that powder as its already oily, so I'd use a normal setting powder.

    I like to use Lily Lolo's Flawless Silk powder in similar way you use Laura's powder on first half of your face - as a very subtel and natural (not shimmery) highlighter. Or as a last step on my face - after setting powder - dusted very, veeery lightly around my face with fluffy brush that don't pick up a lot of product, especially when my skin looks a bit dull. But word "lightly" is a key here - if I use it as normal finishing powder my every pore and imperfection comes out to say hi...

    I find your channel to be very informative. I was wondering if you could please advise people who have very textured, dry, ice pick scars cheeks what types of makeup would look good. I find both matte and luminous products highlight my problem areas on my cheeks.

    Thanks Wayne. Although I have no intentions of purchasing this, I like your take on it. My first thought when I heard and saw it was "that's not a setting powder" or "I would never use it as a setting powder" more like a finishing powder same as with the Hourglass Viel powder. I use HG as a finishing powder and it makes my makeup look absolutely flawless.

    You mentioned that silver might be a better cover for paler skin I am interested in products that might highlight that color

    I actually love this product. I use the regular powder in my t zone and the glow powder in the areas where I want it highlighted and glow.

    You are absolutely right about the pale skin. I am very pale with cool, rosy undertones and had to return the one I got. Looked dreadful on me

    Appreciate your videos! I bought the medium/deep and wow! It’s powerful stuff. A little goes a long way. And I agree...applying it strategically is the way to go.

    Darling thank you for this review! I would have been pissed if I picked this up...I love Laura Mercier BUT this is not a darn setting powder. However, this product would be awesome for strobing!!!
