I have finally gotten the job of harvesting our honey completely finished. As you have seen through the postings I have made over the last several weeks, there is a lot more to harvesting honey than simply spinning honey from frames.
On this adventure I do the final step, separating the wax from the honey that was stored in our drums. To assist in this matter, I employ my honey/wax separator....along with my drum lift, and at the end of the day, I wound up with over 30 gallons of honey and a large garbage can full of dry cappings.
Of course, with the cappings and honey separated, there still is the process of bottling the honey as well as rendering the cappings for our next season, but that's 2 more videos yet to bee made. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all. Mr. Ed
It's not even a minute in but the energy of this man has already made me grin like a FOOL. 🥺💙
Part of my purpose of making videos is to spread a bit of joy in the world, I'm delighted to hear you picked up on that. However, the main reason I post videos is to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 9 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video almost every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

Right! He’s so lovely!! my face hurts from all the smiling🥰
I can imagine Mr Ed standing out there in the yard looking at all the sticky drums. He sings a little tune and the bees descend like Cinderella's songbirds to clean them.
I LOVE how you let the bee's clean up the barrels and stuff, far better than you ever could! That's how they did it many years ago, and that's how it should still be done.
What a prosperous adventure!! Well done!!! XOXO
That's what we do also and its the best way in my opinion, those bee's make sure nothing is left
If the government was as efficient as you and the bees, we'd have a budget surplus. We can only wish Jeff.
You're right about that. First point being he doesn't get to just expand his budget and borrow money when he can't afford something.
@@thegrim418 I mean... I get the point, but you literally just described a business loan.
@@werk62 Fair point, though if he doesn't pay it back he's held accountable. The government never is.
That separator pays for itself over and over. I need to get one. That is a lot of honey left in the cappings. Very nice. Thanks for the video. God bless.
It will make a fine addition to your honey house. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Garry.

seems like you can modify and old washing machine to do the same thing. it even has a pump to pump out the separated honey
@@justinlalugski2083 - I guess you could. I don’t think that pump would last long.
I prefer stainless steel when I work with food.
Oh its so nice when you finally get one, me and a friend went in on one together to make it a little less hard on the wallet lol it was a purchase i dont regret
My father had a manual one when I was child for his two/three hives, he was just a hobby bee-keeper. I do remember playing with it later, just winding the handle and watching it spin imagining I was extracting honey. Now I have actually seen an electric one in action I am able to fully comprehend the labour it must have taken all those years ago extracting the honey and collecting the wax for re-using. I also have a greater appreciation of the farmers of bees and work involved for these bee-wranglers and farmers extracting the honey and getting that beautiful natural wax!

Love these! It is so satisfying to see all that hard work pay off! I used to look at the prices of honey and think whoa that’s a lot for a jar of honey! Then I found your videos and realized y’all work your behinds off to make it! I will never complain again lol Thanks for sharing!
Yes and imagine how much he invested in all of these machines. Another bee keeper (who does it mostly for a hobby) said him and his wife calculated that they make 50 cents an hour each with all the work they do bee keeping and making honey. That's not much. I don't think they use all these fancy machines though.
Nah not pricey at all I believe if the states used honey as sugar replacement there would be 50 percent less diabetics and 30 percent less obese people. Attention disclaimer “This is sarcasm” no canceled for me only big ups

All farming is a large investment, a huge ammount of work, low return, and huge risk! If you think honey production is crazy, look into the dairy industry. Those folks do row cropping, milk production, and beef production, all at once. Not to mention 3 separate marketing and insurance dances. Combined with the government payments paperwork, epa compliance, equipment force, maintenance, veternarians, trucking, and last, TAXES!
Thanks for another awesome video
My sweet Lord, that is a lot of beeswax. I'm just trying to imagine how many candles you could make with all that beautiful beeswax.
I wound up with about 160 pounds, but there is some honey weight with it as well. God's peace Jim.

Wow...it's absolutely amazing how much honey you were able to spin out of those cappings... Bees are such industrious creatures. Making so much honey and wax like that. What miracles they are.
Watching you pull out the rubber spatula to scrape out the last smidgen was satisfying.
What's even more satisfying is licking the spatula clean after the drum is scraped. I do love eating honey. I can't explain how satisfying it was to watch him not leave any honey to waste in the barrel. I used to watch cooking shows growing up, and I was poor as a kid but blessed at the same time. It was a nightmare watching how much batter or mix or whatever people would leave in bowls just to wash down the drain lol.
I get ya , you gotta lick your plate clean
@@aquatikcamel4034 This, and the secondary rule was, "If you don't finish your food now you'll be seeing it later"
@@_The_Traveler_ That's why you never leave meat for later
@@aquatikcamel4034 I can tell you didn't grow up in the most lavished of conditions either, you really get it. You don't leave the meat for later, you show that you're grateful for it in the moment and consume it completely, even if you're too full. When you don't know when you'll get another nice chunk of meat like that, there's no way you could bring yourself to waste it and you literally can't afford to.
Cuz meat is rare isn't it? You know, we probably both grew up on stretch meals. And I don't even need to describe to you what a stretch meal is either! I can remember a time when getting a full glass of juice was like....almost dangerous lol! Even now as a grown man I always feel like my mother is gonna walk in the room and say, "nope, you ain't drinkin' all the juice up cuz that's all we have, you get half a cup" lol.
@@_The_Traveler_ I didn't grow lavishly but at the same time , I didn't get to the lowest level of struggling to get daily meals but I hope you and your family are doing better brother.
I remember the days we used lanterns and those irons you put coal in to iron your clothes tho

Mr. Ed
This was the first time i have watched your videos. I watched the previous video and this one together. So I got the view of the complete procedure of harvesting the honey from beginning to end. They were super interesting videos. I learned a lot about beekeeping and harvesting honey.
I have always loved honey even the first time I tasted it. My mother worked in a country grocery store, where the owner bought some of the products he sold from the neighboring farmers. A few of them kept a lot of bees to help with their crops and to sell the honey as part of their income. So my mother had access to fresh produce and of course freshly harvested honey. She brought some jarred honey and honeycomb chunks home. She gave me a piece of the whole honeycomb when I was about 4 yrs old (I am 76 now). The memory of biting off a piece so impacted me that when I close my eyes and think about it, I can still feel the delicious sweetness running down my throat. Then chewing on the wax, to get the rest of the honey out, was truly heaven to this 4-yr. I was hooked.
As I got older, I learned some facts about honey. The one that was God-inspiring, was that honey NEVER spoils no matter how long it is kept.
Your videos are interesting. I was only going to watch these 2 because bees are extremely fascinating to me. But, you have just received a new subscriber because of the way you have presented the information regarding the bees and your beekeeping.
Now I have to go to the store and get me some honey and comb. 😄

Whoever says "honeymaking is easy", had no clue. It is a lot of purposeful hard work. Thanks for the video.
I thought this machine had knives in it. I looked at the video you posted when you first received it and noticed them present back then.
I does have knives for it, but for my uses, they are unnecessary so I don't keep them in there anymore. God's peace Phillip.
Mr. Ed

Shots fired Mr. Ed. Us big guys can be fluffy too.
No shots fired at all, I'm just a guy who loves bees and has fun sharing my experiences with them. Thanks for watching. God's peace Chris.
