They did an acoustic version that is amazing.
I lived down the street from these guys for twelve years in Jacksonville Florida and surfed with a few of them daily. Great human beings and even better musicians. They’ve been around for a while and have amassed a bunch of great music. You should definitely check out more of their stuff and your score will rise to 11 out of 10!!!!

My cousin Jason Cornell was in Jacksonville at that time and was a surfer I wonder if ya'll knew each other. We lost him to heroin years ago but turned me onto shinedown and I still listen to them daily 🤘🤙

Great performance! Shinedown's rendition definitely does justice to Skynyrd's. In case you are not already aware, Shinedown’s original guitar player, Jasin Todd, is married to Ronnie Van Zant’s daughter, Melody. In their music video of this song, the young girl holding Ronnie's photo is Ronnie's granddaughter, Aria Todd. So it is even more special and moving when they performed this song!
There is a further connection too. Skynyrd and Shinedown are both from Jacksonville, Florida and Shinedown got their first break by playing regularly at a local venue. That venue was called Freebird Live and was owned by Judy Van Zant, Ronnie's widow. The guys used to play this as a both a tribute to Ronnie and a thank you to Judy.

This was back when he was on drugs, but also he toured over a year when they recorded this concert so his voice was very strained in this show, but Brent can sing with a blown voice & did it many times. Of all versions of Simple Man, Live, Studio, Entertainer, This is hands down the best performance, I showed a guy at work, he is a Lynyrd Skynyrd nut, his favorite band, he agrees now this is the best.
This is one of my favorite videos, love your reactions to the video, I think he married Ronnie vanzant daughter, her dad died in the plane crash, great singer and songwriter! Dearly missed.
The original guitarist married Melody, Ronnie's daughter. Went Brent fired him for ongoing addiction issues. Shinedown didn't sing Simpleman for the first couple tours without the original guitarist who got the band permission from Skynyrd to cover it on an album release. Not because they couldn't, but because the situation. Zach Myers the replacement guitarist is top shelf.
Brent Smith is my favorite male vocalist and the band Shinedown was my late husbands favorite band of all time. Hubby passed 2019 and I didn’t start paying attention to them until he was gone. I’ve learned a lot about the band like one thing is they have been around for over 20 years.

This guy really said "if you're too chicken to come in and have face to face singing lessons", and then shortly after proceeds to say, "please be polite, if you don't have anything positive to say [comment] please don't say it at all", and then even refers to going to another channel and shit on the other channels... Lol probably the least professional reactor/singer I've found on CZcams, come on man!
You need to lighten up dude. You've taken this way too serious. It's not a serious comment or channel. Try to see the good and the positivity in the channel. There's a lot there. All the best and take care.
