Loved the recap. I remembered the previous episodes quite differently. Thanks for correcting my faulty memory.
You got it Peter, Ginkgo Biloba helps me with my memory issues.
I'm so glad the safety gear worked perfectly at the end, and protected your ass from harm.
Keep that ass safe, it's precious. So very precious.
It'll be in the next video, thanks Jonathan, made me crack up!
I appreciate the montage music that you add to those lengthy squaring moments. Really livens them up
I wish I found your content sooner. This is what I love watching. Thank you
I appreciate the love, it's not too late, we're just getting started!
CZcams thinks I want to build a bomb shelter so I keep getting random videos suggestions. Glad I found your channel! luv the content and editing! Subscribed.
Thanks Miguel! Are you sure you don't want to build a bomb shelter? CZcams is rarely wrong about these things.
Let's be real though, we *all* want to build a bomb shelter
An Elevator Self Built, Mind Blowing Job. Great Welding Skills.
Thank You Zaphoid!, I'm always trying to get a better weld, some still come out awful, the I put a new ground clamp on there and it made a massive difference.
I've watched all the bunker episodes as a freezer resident.. I have now corrected my ways to escape the freezer, please accept my apologies and keep up the entertaining work!
Allan, thanks for making it right, I'm just sorry you had to lose your fingers and toes to frostbite. I'll keep up the work. Here let me unlock that freezer for ya!
Dude! You threw a lithium battery into the trash!?!? That's a no-go, my friend! It's already rare enough as is! Need to recycle it! Half serious and half joking about that part. I work for Batteries Plus Bulbs AND I have a small shelter I built with my wife and I'm a bit jealous you not only inherited a nice, very spacious shelter, but you also have the skills to take it into the 21st Century! I'd love to have your experience and plethora of tools, nuts and bolts and, more importantly, ORGANIZED where you can quickly find the exact size you need! I wish I could work with you on this awesome project!
Great intro! Even better ending. 😂🤣
You definitely gotta give your belt props too for that jump at the end.
Illogicalewin, I'm surprised more people didn't notice that! I just clipped it to the metal part of the buckle and it held, I'm lucky it did!
I like how right after the do not use for lifting aircraft part I got an ad for model aircraft. Perfect timing.
I appreciate you putting a safety on that elevator.
So does my wife!
Really enjoy your videos. Fun and educational. I like how you included your whole family ,pets and all.
Your humor kills me :) Enjoying this!
The humor in this particular video killed me too, that hurt!
Bro the narration are the best on youtube :p
The recap is amazing!
Thanks Johny!
Don't throw batteries in the trash! Every home center has recycling bins for them! Here's an eye opener for you: if we did not recycle car batteries we would have run out of lead shortly after WW2! This is even more true for lithium ion cells as LI is hard to come by!
That's my battery recycling bin! I'll take it to the Home Depot next time.
Oh the pain of the safety stop! Lol
Great video!!! Thanks for the laughs!!
thanks, fun to watch
Thanks Henri, it was fun to make!
The crotch zoom in while drilling had me on the ground laughing. I’m definitely watching the rest of this series and am already subscribed as of now. 😂
wow I love your videos and they gave me the idea to make my own bunker the same size and the same ideas thanks for the inspiration
Thanks Rigoberto, it's a fun project!
LOVE THE COMEDY
Very good and the ending was outstanding lol
I'm still learning my editing style, thanks D.R.
You should get rid of those ryobi tools. Get some Milwaukee tools and they’ll last you forever. No battery problems
look one side then the other, and keep looking till you don't really care anymore.🤣😂... you sir just earnt yourself a like from a brand new subscriber
That's how I felt after tilting my head 20 times! Thanks Jay!
Looking good !! I sorta can’t wait till you tackle that water tank !!
It's one step at a time, I will probably put some temporary tanks down there incase Vlad get's jumpy sooner than I'm ready.
@@HerbOMatic
I would too buddy ! Your doing great , definitely blessed with a good project !
Love your videos mate 👍 🇬🇧
Thanks 👍 Wayne!
Great channel!
Thanks for the visit Straight Line Cycles!
Just watched the last video. I love your commentary. My kind of humor totally! I subscribed.
Thanks Man, I used to edit out my commentary! What an idiot!
I knew you had to have had a drill press. Just wanted the money shot, I'm on to you. Great video as always.
Rappeezy, I got bills to pay!
I’m glad you have the skills to build the lift but it would have been easier to put steps in and fix the headroom and slope issues. If the power goes out, you’re out of luck.
He says he has plans for battery backup power for it and a ladder for egress should the winch fail. That said I would have been tempted to build some slightly steeper stairs and call it a day.
I was thinking the same thing about the power. But, it being a bomb shelter, it makes sense that he would have plans for alternate power.
@@homeFall1 I was thinking the same thing: most people would just make a set of stairs that fit that space, and be done with it!
Hilarious and informative at the same time... ❤️ Am I the only one that thinks your hair product usage is excessive for an environment where sparks are flying regularly?
Super cool project. Really should wrap the ends on the pulley mounts though. If a weld is going to fail from a tearing or tension force (like a sudden safety cable engagement) an open weld end is where it'll happen. Looping or "wrapping" your weld around the end, even just a little bit, makes the joint many times stronger than a joint where the weld terminates leaving the end of the perpendicular member unwelded.
Ok you had me laughing when you said about buying American. I enjoy your humor.
the re-cap voice over at the start killed me 😂
I subscribed, I don’t wanna end up in that freezer 🫤
16:44 Best Part!
I entertain myself with small things like that in the editing process, thanks Johny!
You are awesome lol
Thanks Crash!
Damn that's funny.
graboid eggs 😂
subbed!
First one too mention that! Welcome to the shop Jason!
5:15 there she is, now I know she's a subscriber... wait better I'll subscribe right away, just in case.
New to your channle , just wanna say, looking foward to the build , I know if I had that in my back yard , it would be a bomb shelter,/man cave ..perfect 😀
Welcome Dennis! I'm looking forward to the rest of the build too!
I loved how you showed how not to test the cable !🤣
Still a little sore from that test!
I always hate when some idiot comes up and starts working on my parts and fucks up, always makes me do extra work XD
Funny video except for the Blood Oath part.
That is one large wine cellar.
Lol, I don't know if the wife will get the whole thing for her wine!
I've opened up those ryobi batteries and give them a few volts right to the cells and it jumps them and the charger will recognize them again.normally they'll take a charge then
That's not a bad plan, I had another one go bad since and have saved it. I'll have to experiment. Thanks Tony!
👍🏻 HOTTIE WIFE **AND** SHE APPEARS TO BE A FUN PROJECT COMPANION.
LUCKY MAN !!
You can add metal just fine if you cut it too short. Remember when you extended the track on the elevator because it wasn't tall enough?
Just curious, what are the plans for the shelter?
Still want to use it as shelter if shtf?
Might want to consider a ladder in it…
Grid down, no power and no elevator… hell of a jump 12ft…
Just an idea,
Elevator with a quick release on the cable to drop it down, and some grips on the structure to get down in it….
And back up when you have a power failure and you're down ;)
Hey Dutch, I have some power supplies that automatically switch from grid to battery that can power the elevator. I will also have a backup ladder bolted to the wall. Good Points!
No Jerkin' yer Gerkin.
But what if you fall really slowly?
If you have a naturally slow fall, you need to purchase the other variant, it's more sensitive for gravity impaired persons.
Someone prob has already but maybe try a sprocket n chain lift...
Ok, i'll subscribe hoping you're gonna find a sponsor for a new saw.
I need it!
25:28 _high pitched voice_ I believe it worked.
I gave myself a Jeans wedgie, I didn't even think that could be a consequence of this test. It seems obvious in retrospect. It still hurts.
Makes me think of an OLD bit of wisdom: "An accident waiting to happen!"
That's my middle name
“We wanna be super precise so we are gonna move are head from side to side till we don’t care
Lol CJ, I was serious until I got bored then I went for it. Thanks!
25:30 looks like it hurt and gave you an atomic wedgie, but hey, yer legs ain't broke! That's a win! :D
I didn't think a jean wedgie was possible! Still hurts
Cool drill rig you built there... Now drill a well for your bunker in your bunker... Just saying.
Then build an elevator that goes to the bottom of the well
@@HerbOMatic yessss to the center of the earth where the hollow earth nazies have nazi elevators.
You may want to splurge on a couple cans of rustoleum to preserve all that new metal work from outdoor weather, humidity etc...just saying.
Once all the fab work is done, I'll squirt it some rusto, thanks Jim!
You could have used the clip at the middle of the lift. Or did you just disregard it????
I don't know what you're talking about
Surprisingly didn’t use something like a extendable ladder does that clicks after it goes up then a safety mechanism lets it clink down
I almost did, I couldn't think of a simple way to get it done without it taking forever to fab!
"4. Do not use for lifting people or aircraft"... Not using it to lift, using it to keep from falling... totally different physical model...
I would suggest a way to incorperate a ladder into the elevator all its going to take is a popped breaker and you are stuck at the bottom.
That's exactly the plan, thanks Rob!
Do you have a link to the green fall arrestor?
I just put it in the description, thanks Shane!
The round spots on your workbench @ 19:25 look like a frozen buffering symbol. 🧐
I thinks that's Rust oleum from a 1 quart can, good catch!
During war electric power is missing why you don't use manual chain block.
rabid dog graboid eggs 🤣🤣🤣👍
The rabbit dog won I see
Now I have to go around this hatchet of a face. I wake up every day thinking about that vicious dog...
"Do not use for lifting people or aircraft."
How much does their version of an average person weigh!?
Right? I'm way lighter than a 737
14 mm = 9/16
Wife: WTF happened?
Husband: Lets face it. You have caught me doing way stupider shit than this. Help me down will ya?
She really has!
😜😆😂🤣
Recap; Kakhiel citytripstyle….
HOM, what is your first name? Can't find it searching on Google. I watch many CZcamsrs and love to personalize my comments addressing them by their actual name. Anyway, just started watching your site today and find you very interesting. As to your testing of the safety device you just installed in last couple days..... I'm frankly surprised you didn't figure out a better, easier way of doing that using the actual final configuration of your elevator. When you had it inclined at the 23:37 minute part of the video, all you needed to do was lower the elevator all the way to the bottom, then simply raise it up by hand leaving the winch cable slack, then let gravity do it's work. The safety device would stop in approximately 3 inches. Easy peasy lemon squeeze.
😂 ok ok i will subscribe! Don’t put me in there!
Ok, I'll turn the van around! Thanks!
SRL, more commonly known as a YO-YO
You need to go see a chiropractor!!!😂
That block doent work the way you think it does. The cable is not what determines the load rating, the braking mechanism is. I am not sure if you are in the US or Canukistan. Here in the US, safety devices need to be certified by OSHA. If it certified by OSHA it will have a normal working load of 330 lbs, and can hold that weight many times. It will also employ a safety factor of 10 for human use. Meaning it will hold approximately 10 times the rated load ONCE. Being as its from China, I would not trust my life to it. Retired union Ironworker here, and I used these very frequently. What you are doing with it is very dangerous and could result in serious bodily injury or death. You would be better off only using it to support a person on the elevator while they are wearing a harness, and dont double part it.
that ending was ....prime dumb !
Sadly this restoration has no doubt become less a novelty and taken on a bit more urgency, given recent world events :(
Andrew, exactly right
FYI I subscribed before you threatened to murder me and stuff me in the freezer😬
I had to get drastic! Welcome into the shop Richard, thanks for subbing up, instead of going sub zero.
@@HerbOMatic appreciate it sir but I’m more of a scorpion fan
Maybe a drop down handle of about 3-4 ft a pipe in a tube about 5-6 foot. You can pull it up twist it thru 45-90’ & drop it down about an inch maybe to lock it in, but have it at the same height so when you slide the door open it’s close to hand to pull up. 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hey Ray, I don't completely understand, do you mean a latch to keep the door closed?
On the side of the tower fit a 5ft tube with a poll in side it, it can slide up & down. If you cut a channel along one side then fit 2 nuts about 12 inch apart to run up & down in the channel. If you have a knob on the top of the poll you can pull it up about 3-4 ft & have a space to twist it & drop it to lock it up. So you can steady your self when getting in & out. ?? I’ve done some drawings I could email to you. 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
You said a Blood Oath with the Devil I would not even say that hey bro you need Hoover pet
What's a hoover pet Jeremy?
$21,000 worth of lumber, and all you got was that abusive SRL test rig.
Um, you didn't think to test it there at the end by throwing about 5 or 6 bags of concrete onto the platform? Not good for the your back, the belt or the belt loops... frankly, I was going, "oh, you got to be kidding, he's gonna snap those belt loops and wind up on the floor... amazed they held up with the way they make clothes so cheaply nowadays.
JP, that's a steel core belt, they are amazing. Yeah there were better ways to test it, but an idea popped into my head and you guys have this masterpiece!
Looks like that 🤕
I was looking for the monkey sound with the music that you used....
Which part?
@@HerbOMatic the music you played when you welded. It is the same duty free music that Trial N' ERROR uses for his them song. There is a monkey sound he plays toward the end of the song at the same time.
You cannot seriously talk about safety and harbor freight equipment in the same video.
why not just stairs? much simpler and safer? I'm just an old fashioned Gal🤣
I don't trust stairs they are always up to something
@@HerbOMatic or down
Jokes on you I like living in a chest freezer
Living?, LOL
hmmm would it not have been smarter to have the winch on the lift so you could have a manual crank mechanism in case there is no power? if the world goes to shit making you need a bomb shelter there is no guarantee you will have power to get back up.
Going to add a ladder bolted to the wall near the lift so we can jump to safety if needed!
Seriously did you just throw that battery in the trash? Hell I can repair those easy plus BATTERIES DON'T BELONG IN THE TRASH!!
Drill press… just saying
There was a drill press in there somewhere.
You are going to be so ready for Russia.
Where do you se lumber for 2k 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️
I moved my retirement into lumber
wow the commentary is annoying - volume off
reuse thos litium batteries in other projects. or try replacing the circiut board.
