    I got the natural history museum right in between the sanctum sanctorum, with the alleyway on the left and the boutique hotel on the right. This way it feels as though the museum stands free on its own

    I'm collecting all the available ones to build together at the same time. I already have an arrangement in mind to form a circle so you can look at the city from every side. One side will definitely be the Police Station, then the Museum, Sanctum for the corner and then the Jazz Club. The style and scale of those feel like they would be in the same part of town. I hope we'll get a corner building next year. I can rearrange and modify the Assembly Square to be my third corner building but I'll need one more.

    I agree with your top selection, but my bigger issue is the seasonal trees not being consistent. So for me it’s either leave the museum alone (which I feel is how it would be in the real world), or adapting the trees not in green foliage. Thanks for the insight with your video.

    I haven’t picked up the Museum…yet. With my current modulars, I’ve been thinking Police Station->Museum->Fire Brigade.
    I don’t have the book shop, but it looks great to the right of the museum. I may have to pick one up.

    I personally think the best layout is :
    • Police station (Left)
    • Natural History Museum (Middle) &
    • Parisian Restaurant (Right)
    I’m not 100% on the Parisian Restaurant being to the right side of the Museum but honestly I think it’s the best fit out of all the Modular buildings so far, Lemme know your thoughts ?

    Really enjoying the recomended layout: 2:38
    1. Bookshop/apartment (Left)
    2. Jazzclub (Middle Left)
    3. Museum (Middle Right)
    4. Botique Hotel (Right)
    Especially the botique hotel museum combination.
    The round roof combination looks very fancy and the alley does centers the museum the right way.

    Personally, I think it's an impossible task because in real life a building like this would never be attached at the sides to other buildings of a completely different architectural style. I think the only way to make it look good is to make a little surrounding area of grounds to go around it and have it standing alone. The same problem applies to a lot of the modulars - architecturally they're all over the place from one building to the next so if you just buy them all and line them up, as lots of city builders do, you end up with kind of a hot mess that looks very implausible, although most people don't seem to care 😂 The town hall is another one that really needs to stand alone to look realistic in my view but I think the museum is really spoilt the second it's put up against other modulars.

    • @buildingtogether4171
      @buildingtogether4171  Před 5 měsíci +5

      I think that's a fair point. Once you put a museum next to other buildings, it contradicts the settings of most museums.
      What you say about the town hall makes sense as well. We actually have our town hall separate. We built a little promenade that leads up to it, but there are no buildings flanking the town hall.
      I don't think it's that people don't care about the "hot mess", but I think most modular city builders suspend their disbelief for a variety of reasons, perhaps architectural ignorance, but often due to space constraints or lack of pieces to create a green space, for example.

    placing the hotel next to it, gives it this very posh city vibe. and matches with the art shop next to it
    when tourist visit, they want to go visit a museum and local bookshop.

    I made it stand out by not connecting it to my other modulars. I left an 8 stud wide strip on both sides and set it back 16 studs so you have a small square in front. I tried the parisian restaurant next to it at first but both buildings are green/white so that became a bit boring.

  • @chumley307
    @chumley307 Před 5 měsíci +4

    This is one of those really hard to place modulars. I love the look of your UNITY Street custom modular on the left of it. But I'd think you'd need something with a similar courtyard (thinking Market Street) on the right to balance it out. Personally, I think the museum looks best as a standalone, without any buildings next to it. I plan to add 6-stud alleyways on either side of it in my city.

    The problem with butting Birch Books anywhere near the museum is then not only have the only two very prominent trees right next to each other, but one of them is very clearly fall and the other very clearly spring. The mind reels.

    I love the bank and police station too. If I hadn't just finished a 16 by 32 corner build to help the left side of my police station I would be doing the police station then museum then the detectives office since I always try to have the detectives office front and center sincecitvwas my first modular. I think I'm going with the museum between the hotel and jazz club because the left side corner I built for the police station works great with the pizza shop from the jazz club and my sister is getting me 3 things I have been asking all year for from a local for her lego resell store since they just so happened to have a full set of looney tunes cmfs when my sister stopped and was looking for my Christmas gifts. So, after 2 long years, I will finally have the full looney tunes cmfs series complete.

    Thank you so much for your thoughtful, detailed modular placement video! I am currently struggling to decide which modular will go next to my museum with the limited space inside my IKEA Billy bookcase. I can only fit one 32x32 or two 16x32s next to it on a shelf. Police Station or Brick Bank are definitely strong possibilities!

    Thanks for doing this. I am getting the museum for Christmas and I have been wondering where to fit it in. It’s a beautiful set, but I think it should have had one more floor, since most museums are huge imposing structures that usually stand alonue…..with a park, green spaces, or paved areas flanking the building. The extra height would be impressive.
    I am also thinking of adding a new modern extension….to house other exhibits, and to make it 2 baseplates wide.

    The issue i have with the museum becomes painfully clear in this video : it’s just way too small. Especially when placed next to the earlier Modulars it just looks like they shrunk it to 75% of what it should be. It should be this imposing ; grandiose building and it comes off as a scaled down model. 😢. This might be the very first time I don’t get a modular. :/

    I’m torn about the museum. I regret not getting the diner (the only of recent modulars I didn’t get) but I’m not sure I’d regret not getting the museum. The scale just makes it look better as a standalone. And LEGO has a lot of other sets that make for better standalones

    I only have assembly square... and outside the anual modular I have spring lantern festival and the most recent version of the sanctum santorum so not many configurations to play arround xD but this gave me what sI wanted to see from this modular; I think I'd modify it to fill ghe back of the baseplate and another 16 studs.. too many extra pieces needed so I'm probably not getting it (even though to the question of "what modular would you like to see Lego make" my answer was always a natural history museum 😅).
