Sephiroth voice actor is eerily amazing, he did an outstanding job

Indeed. He is the same actor who plays the role of Clark Kent in Superman and Luis.

Wait a minute, that’s the exact same floor asset they use in the actual forgotten capital in Rebirth.
On top of them making the actual stage of Nibleheim for the flashback in chapter 1, how much of these games are planned ahead of time?

i heard someone said that somebody mentioned that when remake launch it meant all 3 parts would be already on their way, so a lot of planning have been done

I don't know, perhaps they did that scene first and then for the sake of continuity decided to make it look exactly the same in Rebirth, just a thought

I think maybe they took the LOTR approach to an extent. They give themselves flexibility, but with the original game they have an idea for locations so they figured out a lot in preproduction for Remake so they can get things smoother for Rebirth and part 3. Square has done a great job so far, looking so much forward to part 3!

They have a trailer in 2015, which means they started way before that, Remake came out in 2020. Now dont get me wrong Remake has a lot of content but if that is the only thing they are making I dont believe it needs 5 years or longer, 3 at best.

You only have this spelled out for you if you take Nanaki on your date in the Gold Saucer, though it is hinted at throughout Remake. Aerith is already fully aware of her impending death and how things are supposed to play out

@@tolkienblack yea but I think the white materia gave her back the memories so at the very end she knew she was going to die and actually wanted to. She even sends the white whispers to stop cloud. I think cloud did the unexpected by overpowering the whispers, basically defying fate, by blockin the sword and makin an alt world where she survived. Idk I hope she gets to have a happy ending and lives so doesn't she have to be sacrificed for the good of the world and her friends again.

Lol, I remember this Mad TV bit about the Terminator being sent back to save Jesus. He was like "No dude, this is how it was meant to be. I am meant to die".
      T2: Negative...You must live.
Lol...Humanity always meddling with fate. This is why we came up with technology...I'm still looking for a way to revive Aerith with the underwater materia.

@@ChoompaLoompa1985-uw8lw who knows man, it’d definitely be unexpected for they actually bring her back. I’m a bit iffy on a straight resurrection like DBZ style, it seems a bit too easy. It’s why I like the theory of an alternate aerith taking her place. Idk, I just want her to live, I don’t really wanna see her die again, and just at most have a repeat of advent children only with aerith maybe having the chance of saying goodbye. It’s a bit stale now, her death is def impactful, but idk, it feels less painful than the OG. There’s also the fact that “defy fate” is sort of the tag line of the trilogy. I think everyone assumed this meant aerith fate, including the devs, so to just kinda be like PSYCHE, is idk, kinda mean. Had it been a 1 to 1 remake with further expansion on characters, basically more voice lines and personality added to them, I think her dying again would’ve been ok. Still less impactful, but I’d be happy with it. The remake isn’t that though so having her die again is very impactful in a different way, it’s more so I’m mad at the devs for giving me false hope and I think that’s a sentiment most fans have as well.

@@Pringlessingles Aerith is the conduit of the 'defy fate' idea. She explains during the trials in the temple of the ancients that the past is forever and cannot be changed, that the future is written but not decided, and that it's possible to change what hasn't happened yet. When she talks to Cloud about her future self, it is likely a reference to her afterlife Omni self that guides people to make choices that don't subjugate them to fate, but rather are in tune with it. In Japanese culture and mythology the role of the Miko (shrine maiden) is to guide the souls of the deceased to a peaceful afterlife. Obviously it's a common motif in most FF games (FF10 Yuna). Aerith since childhood had the extra sense to see and talk to spirits, including the flowers in her garden which she says can only speak their will to us once 'the final step is complete'. She is for all intents and purposes the Messiah of the Cetra who must realise the prophecy of her people. Sephiroth's maniacal delusions about the convergence of worlds and 'homecoming' Aerith only paraphrases in her dream with Cloud because she is the only one who's future is both written and decided, as there is no other way to stop Sephiroth except sacrificing herself. The Aerith that Zack rescued at the beginning of Rebirth must've been from a world where Cloud and the party don't confront the whispers. It's a doomed world unable to resist Sephiroth's will and is therefore swept by it. The Reunion, which is really a metaphor for a grand stand between his will and the will of the planet, is that convergence of worlds when past and present unite in order to save the future from destruction. Sephiroth, who we assume hasn't changed his motives since OG to destroy all life on the planet has a completely different idea about what 'defying fate means' and does everything in his power to corrupt the real reunion process (Not the Jenova experiment). Aerith is an incorruptible beacon who guides the resistance with Holy, so Sephiroth goes straight for her life, but Cloud is corruptible...Aerith and Sephiroth battle for Cloud's soul. We know that in OG Aerith eventually wins but at the cost of her life. In Rebirth the Devs mockingly presented us with useless options like the fake choice of a gift for Aerith and fake hope we could stop Sephiroth's sword. Could be that Cloud absorbed a part of Aerith and her memories like he did with Zack, could be that Omni Aerith immediately connected with Cloud after her physical death...in any case, the clear materia that he's holding has a chance of becoming either black or white, (Rebirth ending) possibly an opening to prevent meteor from being summoned, but very unlikely because then Aerith's sacrifice would've been in vain. The only real obstruction to fate is Zack because his life seems like it was legit spared in the remake. By future Aerith, the planet...not sure, and his fate doesn't require him to die the same way Aerith does, so just like Barret who's false death in remake wasn't "ordained by fate", Zack could've survived for real...Which means somewhere there is a version of Cloud (or Clouds) whose memories are intact. (Remember, in OG there is a different persona for each fragmented memory,.. those fragments are aspects of the real Cloud, but are separate from him. Aerith could've negotiated a swap with fate as the price for cleansing the lifestream of the Jenova virus. her life for Zack's. This basically takes us back to the end of remake and beginning of Rebirth. While both feature Zack, they are not in the same world. One is real, the OG world where the party confronts the whispers, defies Sephiroth's will and continues to Kalm, (Zack opens door to church, hoping to find Aerith but sees people hiding) the other is this Zack's dream, where the party loses, or chooses not to confront the whispers, and where Zack stumbles into the chaotic aftermath with Cloud and drags the comatose Aerith out of the copter. Both of those worlds could be dreams but the optimist in me is hoping that the latter world Zack appears to have dreamt in the church, amazed at how real it felt by the end.
The only real perspective for changing the outcome of things from OG depend on Zack finding his way to the real Cloud and telling him not to take his final request too seriously, letting Tifa do the rest OG proper. To push this even further, the Devs could actually manage to slip it in before Cloud loses it completely, fills the empty orb with his rage and hands it over to Sephiroth.
I still have hope 'defying fate' is more than metaphysical in this game, but I was hit by doubt mostly because I feel the devs really believed they were opening a new leaf with the series, not filling in blanks for FF7 compilation.

Yeah, could be. But FF7 players forget to give Cloud's character a break. At the beginning of the game, Cloud was still fresh out of Hojo's specimen tube, operating in a 'fake it till you make it' mode, meeting all sorts of characters, becoming attatched/dependent on some of them.
