  • TEALBY near Market Rasen - The most beautiful village in Lincolnshire, England
We visit the village of Tealby near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire to see if it's true that this really is the prettiest village in Lincolnshire!
Tealby is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, situated on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and 3 miles north-east of Market Rasen.
Tealby is often said to be one of the best places to visit in Lincolnshire. Nestled on the edge of the gentle slopes of the Lincolnshire Wolds, this location can sometimes appear to give Tealby its own micro-climate.
Classed as an Area of Outstanding Beauty with nearly 600 people living in this conservation area, it attracts many visitors with its picturesque houses, walks, views and local businesses.
Tealby has always been a pretty village and as such supports a vibrant community with an active church, school, community-run shop, two pubs, a tearoom and many local businesses all benefiting from the influx of visitors, walkers, and cyclists who regularly stop off to enjoy what the village has to offer.
The surrounding countryside is serene and rolling, making it fantastic for walks. There are a number of lovely walks around Tealby, with the most well-known one being The Viking Way. This is a long distance footpath that starts on the banks of the Humber in the north and winds its way through Tealby to finish on the shores of Rutland Water, a total of 235km (147 miles).
There are a number of great places to eat and drink in Tealby (and its surrounding area), including The Kings Head, a 14th Century thatched pub and the oldest thatched pub in Lincolnshire. A superb, fresh, home cooked food offering from a traditional bar menu to an outstanding à la carte specials board, fine real ales and a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere.I had lunch here and it was fantastic!
    The Vintage Tearooms
The Tearooms are open 5 days a week and bank holidays, serving a delicious range of homemade food and cakes; Which include an English Breakfast until 12pm, a selection of light Lunches and homemade soup, as well as their home baked cakes and pastries.
The Tearooms are arranged over two floors and has seating for 30 downstairs in their Cath Kidston style room, which is filled with a lovely collection of hand-painted vintage furniture and a sideboard brimming with homemade cakes.
If you're looking to visit for a relaxing weekend or long break, there are many great places to stay in Tealby and the surrounding area
Tealby is just 3 miles from the busy town of Market Rasen with its well-known race-course and Golf Club, 13 miles from Louth, a gorgeous Lincolnshire market town, and 19 miles from the cathedral city of Lincoln.
Tealby has a long and rich history that can be seen in its buildings, of which 31 are listed. It is thought that it was first settled in the 5th Century by East Germanic Taifali tribal people.
The Viking army settled in the village in the 9th Century and Viking connections can still be seen in old Danish names such as Teal-by itself, the ‘by’ meaning farmstead or village, ‘Thorpe’ meaning a secondary settlement, ‘Beck’ meaning stream, and ‘Smooting’ - a narrow passage between houses (The picturesque ford at the bottom of the narrow and steep Beck Hill is one of a number of beauty spots and leads out into the rolling hills of Bayons Park).

I've seen some beautiful villages in my time but this village tops the lot for me after watching this video. Myself and my wife are going to take a trip here for a walk through the village when the weather gets warmer (if it ever does 🤣🤣). Thank you for sharing yet another great video. 👍

I live in North Lincolnshire but more towards Finningly way. Tealby looks sheer bliss must be great to horse ride through this village. The pub looks fantastic. Away from the rat race and noise I must make an effort an visit there sometime. Love the Bridal shop, I'd like a nice little cake shop in this village. It's hard to pick which cottage I like the best... i bet not many properties go up for sale who would want to move !!! No street lamps so no light pollution to spoil the clear starry nights... it gets better. Thanks for sharing your tour with us.

I lived here as a child in the 60s and 70s. I paddled in the beck, went to that school and went to youth club dances at that hall. It’s changed beyond recognition ( even the house I used to live in which was shown briefly). It’s so manicured and beautiful but I can’t imagine there’s much opportunity for some of the kids I grew up to be able to afford to live there. Im probably looking back with nostalgia but it seems too “perfect “ . I’m just getting old, I guess

Haveing lived in a small village just outside caistor since 1987 i was forced to buy a flat in grimsby because the house prices are just so inflated in these " lovely Lincolnshire villages " . Its ok if your a rich so and so from away with loads if spare money, there the only people that can afford buy houses in places like tealby .

Ooh . Well it certainly always a sought after spot, not many manual workers on average wage will afford to buy or rent there. Mostly business people and civil servants these days I bet! Of course villages in lincolnshire are now fast becoming the reserve of the wealthier as rents become standardised with Cambridge etc with their higher wages and more buoyant economies. I do speak from experience being a tenant all my life in lincolnshire, and working in a factory near Alford.

They won best kept village or was in Village in bloom one year, can't remember, don't actually care. Can you imagine the little committees and the self appointed busy-bodies that exist to make such a thing possible? The social pressure and polite blackmail applied to those who don't toe the line for the 'greater good.' (Greater Good.) Not to mention the house prices being nearly twice that of near by villages. Every other village within ten miles thinks Tealby is right up it's own ... and they'd be right.
TL:DR very pretty, wouldn't want to live there.
