Ballard blades compared to OEM hustler hyperdrive blades.

  • I’m using a right angle impact from Ingersoll rand to remove the blades. So far I’ve noticed that the Ballard highlift Blades make a more refined stripe in the grass. For the money they are a win in my opinion.

      @@lifeintornadoalley I truly think they are a good blade. I’ve seen so many say they are bad. This is my first set so maybe I got the one good blade they made but I don’t think so. I’ve currently hit a few rocks, limbs and a 3x4 without any damage to the blade. Not to mention they are almost half the cost of OEM.

    What's your solution to stragglers? I have 2 rows, right where the center blade meets the outer blade on each side. I tried Rotary Copperhead and hustler oem mulch blades that came with the mulch kit and it's driving me nuts. I had to make 3-4 passes super slow, all types of grass, weeds, etc. I'm going to try oem high lift non mulch blades before I remove the mulch kit completely. Deck is leveled and pitched properly, rpm high, brand new blades, tire pressure dialed in, I can't figure out why the cut quality sucks.

    • @americandream_89
      @americandream_89  Před rokem +2

      A quick guess would be the mulching kit. But every grass type is different. The high lifts will help with weeds like dandelions. All I run is high lift blades. I’ve never ran a mulching blade and my deck does not have the insert kit to mulch.

    I think what you called a coating is tungsten carbide. It keeps a blade sharper, longer. It is very tough!

      @americandream_89  Před rokem

      Thanks buddy. On the hyperdrive it has a notch showing where the Pto should be engaged. That is where I engage it. It does seem higher rpm than most to start the clutch. But I figure they did their R&D to put a engagement spot.

      @@americandream_89 just a taught on that, I wouldn't put to much weight ont that pto engagement notch, I seen many ZT that the lever is not adjusted the same, meaning you will get, half and full throttle at different spot. Nothing is wrong with them, it's just different cableounting and adjustment. I'v had 2 Hustler Raptor sitting side by side and the throttle and not set the same. I'v had a scag that closing the throttle it would push in the cable too much and was bending the steel rod, have we not caught it it could have ben a premature failure. If you want to trust that notch you should verify if there is a cable adjustment and that your half throttle is at your engagement notch.

    Just out of curiosity, in your order of observations which turf care specific tasks would you prefer the results or performance of the ‘Hyperdrive’s’ over the ZTrak 970R?

    • @americandream_89
      @americandream_89  Před 2 měsíci

      Both are great mowers and both will do about anything you need. The hyperdrive is just so smooth and comfortable it’s hard to want to get on anything else. As far as cutting grass both will do and excellent job. The hyperdrive to me seems to stripe better in my grass type. You can mow faster with the hyperdrive as it holds its composure over, rough terrain, better.

      These blades seem to be thinner and of a softer metal compared to oem. I wouldn't recommend them cause they do not last but for about a week in a commercial setting and that's no good. With oem I could get 3 to 4 sharpenings and have them last close to a month.
