    My name is Lucy, I'm a 25-year-old girl from the Netherlands, and I'm here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
    On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies & tv shows and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
    I do lifestyle and beauty videos as well, ranging from wearable everyday looks, makeup tips and DIY natural beauty treatments, to fashion lookbooks, vegetarian recipes and more extreme Halloween tutorials.
    If you enjoy history, you've come to the right place as well. I have a few series based on historical makeup and hairstyling that are my little passion projects.
    Enjoy browsing!

    My ex boyfriend came with me to my work the other day and he randomly asked if there were hairdressers for women in the 1800s, and I said I don’t know, Google it and let me know what you find. The first thing he did was play a video. I heard it and said, “Is that Loepsie?” And he said “Who is Loepsie and how do you know who she is?” lol ... he is 50 ... it was funny for some reason :P

    I'm glad you put up this video. I've been having to do a lot of protective styles lately because it's cold, dry, sometimes windy and my coat and scarf dry my hair out too. I haven't tried these ones yet and like finding new ones to change up my hair routines. Thank you.

    I didn't know I needed this video until now! :) The thing about the hair and the backpack straps was extremely dangerous for me! I ended up cutting my hair shorter because of it. Mostly it would wrap around my neck and get stuck under the strap. That's why it was a danger. :(

  • @girlovecupcake
    @girlovecupcake Před 5 lety +2

    Would you ever do a styling video about how to style in extreme cold? The winter weather fluctuates where I live, but we also get cold wind that just cuts and makes the cold weather even worse. :( I end up wearing five layers on a daily basis and it's very annoying. :((

  • @odsmey
    @odsmey Před 5 lety +6

    I have a lot (really a lot!) of flyaways roughly as long as long as where the elastic of a ponytail sits. So I am guessing they are damaged by the elastic (I already use the spirally ones). Any hairstyles that keep the hair up and don't put stress on those short hairs?
    I usually do a french braid, but that gets messy throughout the day because of all the short hairs. I work as a nurse, so hair needs to be up and away.

    • @Emma-bv7oo
      @Emma-bv7oo Před 5 lety

      Same here.

    • @sophiejones7727
      @sophiejones7727 Před 5 lety

      try cloth hairties or scrunchies rather than elastics. Curly or wavy hair isn't slippery like straight hair, so tight elastics do more harm than good. Or avoid hairties altogether by making a braided bun, which only needs pins since the coiled-up braid can't unravel. For serious control on fine hair, I recommend a hairnet. They come either in fine mesh invisible kinds or as brightly colored crocheted caps. You can get them small, so they just go over a bun, or large enough to cover your entire head (in which case it's also called a "snood").
      Long-term, address the problem by keeping your hair moisturized. Try using a leave-in conditioner after you shower, and wear a scarf for a few hours afterwards to make sure it soaks in. Using a diffuser on your hairdryer is also helpful.

    • @odsmey
      @odsmey Před 5 lety

      Sophie Jones Thank you for all the tips! my hair is fine and straight, so I do need a tight hairtie (scrunchies just fall out). Braided bun sounds great, I sometimes bun a frenchbraid. I only air dry my hair, but using conditioner more often (and not only putting it on the ends down at the very end) might be a good idea.

    • @sophiejones7727
      @sophiejones7727 Před 5 lety

      @@odsmey yes! Ideally conditioner should be applied all over the head. Instead of using more while you're in the shower though: try using the normal amount in the shower and then applying another coat to your wet hair after you've stepped out. You need to give your hair time to fully absorb the product, and there's no telling how long that will take for your hair. If you find using two applications of conditioner weighs down your hair too much: a mousse or a serum is an alternative. Making sure to use lotion on your skin frequently also helps your hair stay moisturized and healthy: because your hair comes out of your skin. good luck!

  • @agentmothman5343
    @agentmothman5343 Před 5 lety +9

    Thank you, hair queen! Do you happen to know any ways to 'straighten' your hair without heat? My natural hair is so floofy and flyaway and I hate it but I'm trying to limit the amount of heat styling I do. :)

    • @alistercat
      @alistercat Před 5 lety

      I don't know if it works for other people, but if I put my damp hair into 2 fishtail braids with VERY small sections it dries really straight compared to how my hair normally dries (lots of waves with a good amount of loose curls). For frizz smoothing, I like to use either l'oreal curl taming cream or this coconut heat protectant spray (sprayed into my hands and used sparingly) from the brand Silk Elements I got for free at Sally beauty supply. If you prefer your products "cone-free," look for recommendations online for smoothing creams or curl creams, or use a very small amount of oil spread on the hands and used sparingly like I use the heat protectant spray. I use either product when my hair is about 3/4 dry for best results.

    • @SkylaSternenlocke
      @SkylaSternenlocke Před 5 lety +4

      Maybe your hair is actually wavy or curly and you were not aware of it before. Brushing out wavy hair makes it really floofy normally. Straight hair is only like that when it is extremely damaged. Try to look into hair care for wavy textures.

    • @Lithostoic
      @Lithostoic Před 5 lety

      You could "wrap" it. There are videos on youtube! Just type wrapping for straight hair and you should get results.
