Great video Michael, I was trying to explain this to people in my video when I added ammonia rich soil to a tank with shrimp in it, I used Prime.
Nice! Hope all is well.
Hi Michael. Loved this. I use the Co-Op test strip, but had not tried the ammonia strips yet. Your comment has triggered my purchase 😁 Thanks for always just keeping things simple and real. I appreciate you and your content!
They are great!
Things like prime really do work against ammonia and nitrite, even nitrates and always take notes about the things that happen in your aquarium to track down everything even spikes
Ok
Great video Michael, very informative 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Mike!
Interesting off topic. The Cories I got from you made it through the great outage.
YAY!!!!!!!
Nice one Michael 🤘
Thanks!
Love your sense of humour dude 😋
Thanks!
My water is perfect...but my fish keep dying....lol , and that is why I'm not on FB much anymore. Great video Mike. Really good info. Stay safe and healthy my friend.
Thanks, you too!
Thank god you still have a personality- some probate just too dry. You rock
Thanks!
Ok boys and girls in case of an ammonia spike do as Michale advises followed by you favourite beverage and snack! The right vid at the right time. Thank you Michael!
Great tip!
Great video Michael! I had a cycle crash in my 30 gallon mutt guppy tank recently. I think it was due to my kh dropping too low which crashed my ph, then my entire cycle! Did a 25% water change, added prime, nabbed some filter media from my other tank and boom! All better. I added about 4 T of crushed coral to my HOB and it brought my kh and ph back up to better levels within a few weeks. Didn't lose a single fish!
Well done!
Every time I've had my water tested at the fish store, it's matched my test strips. I've found them to be pretty accurate.
This video is what I do if I get an ammonia spike (rarely happens) or while I'm doing a fish in cycle. I'm disabled and am not able to do lots of water changes, especially at the drop of a hat. So I do this method using Fritz Complete or Seachem Prime and dose beneficial bacteria either Fritzyme 7 and/or Seachem Stability and it's always worked for me. Same for if I get a Nitrite spike (rarely).
It works! I’m old and lazy, so I don’t like water changes. Lol
Seachem PRIME is NOT a Biological Additive, it will temporarily detoxify Ammonia and Nitrite, however PRIME Does NOT Remove A & N from the Water.
This Effect is good for about 48 Hours.
Seachem STABILITY is their BIOLOGICAL Additive. STABILITY is Bacteria Spores and these need a few Days to "Hatch".
@apaulmcdonough2170 I never said any different. I know all of that, hence why I use them together. Temporary detoxification from Prime and additional beneficial bacteria added with the Stability to help rectify the situation. I dose for a few days and have had good results with that.
@@ReneesZooTube ahhh, but then you should read your Second to Last Sentence in your Comment and consider an edit.
Also some cleaning supplies can kill and raise your ammonia or so I've heard. Like windex and stuff like that
Yup
Hello thank you for the video
I have ammonia in my tank I did a water change and used prime but I move mis 2 mocha clown fish to my other tank… but they doesn’t look good are in the bottom and doesn’t to eat and breathing very fast.. today I star see white spot too can you please help me what I need ot do to save them
Treat for the ick.
Hi Miche !
I had been growing fish as a hobby from when I was 13. Now I am 47 . I learn a lot from you . The reason I typed is I was missing your video for some time , busy . Today saw again, you look much healthier and younger. Keep up the good work mate . Your Video and Cardio .
Thanks!
I found one dead female dumbo guppy an hour ago. The snails were already eating it. It got me worried. Looked up on CZcams and you already had a video on it. After watching your video, listening to your instructions, I found a dead snail that was being eating by my other snails. My lemon blue eyes bristlenose plecos were also eating that snail. Removed the dead snail, dead fish, and did a water change. Hopefully no more fish die. Thank you
Good luck
What do you do if you don't have fish in the tank and you sail have amomoa in your tank
Is it in your source water?
Once in while my Ammonia is 0.25 ppm and this is what I do. Treat with Seachem AmGuard as per their formula. Clean my filter. Dose with Seachem Prime and Seachem Stability. Add shrimp because they consume any decaying dead leaves and dead fish in case you can’t find it. Regards, Johann from Centurion, South Africa. PS Micheal I enjoy your videos!
Thanks and hello’
@@MichaelsFishRoom You’re welcome and keep making videos. Your videos are excellent and entertaining. Learned nearly everything about fish keeping on CZcams, and discovered your channel when I searched for a video on how to use my API Test Kit.
If I have a spike I just had seachem prime and seachem stability I do water changes once a week
A spoke of what? How much? Watch my fish in cycle video, that will help.
That intro lol
Brownies
Yummy
Fritz is the best !
Yeah it is.
Thanks Micheal. Had a dead fish. A large cichlid. Couldn't see him anywhere. Water was misty. Spotted him wedged under a rock. Did water change. Got slight ammonia and nitrate. Did panic. 👍
Hopefully you are not panicked now.
You are not fine, secret smoker? Haha 😄
I’m fine!
Gosh...I can't even remember the last time I tested for ammonia or nitrIte. I test once in a great while for nitrAte. Disclaimer! My way works for me. You may need to test more often. I rarely test because my smallest tanks are 75 gallons and are well established.
Lol
I have super heavy planted tanks like a jungle .. I let nature run its course seems to work fine
That's great!
Is it normal for red tail sharks to protect guppy fry
No idea, I don’t keep them.
Ammonia spike in a long running aquarium - um… check for dead fish and check filter operation while doing a water change. If both are fine, gravel vac very well. Check in 12 hours and every day for a week. If it’s still high, I remove all decor in search of… (Leonard Nimoy?)
Some estate Darjeeling tea I got as a sample…
How is it? Still can’t taste coffee!
What's the best test to get I've got the lab test one
What is the “lab test one”?
@@MichaelsFishRoom liquid one

@@leesutton1845 I like the aquarium co op ones.
@Michael's Fish Room but they don't deliver to UK is there any other good ones
👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
Dump the tank water on floor then replace tank water! Now mop the floor you saved your fish and recycled the ammonia!😝
🤦🏻♂️
I have a nitrite spike right now🤔
It’s like I know it something…..
I am beginner at fischkeeping, and I follow your example on fish in cykle and The level on nitrite as 0,6 right now. Sorry my bad english I am from sweden by The way. Your video is so good, I learn so much from you. My tank is 158 gallon
I do this same method for a Nitrite spike. Really helps. Test and dose daily until the spike ends. Change water if you can, but still dose.
Thanks for your replay. Yes i do that, but not 50% waterchanges, thats stres my fish. My fish is happy go lycky now. They swim aroud in The tank. And i'll be waching them and I test The water every day.
@@idaakesson6559 your English is better than my Swedish! I’ve been to Sweden 2X and have family in Finland.
Punt!

I get the feeling that when you were in high school, you were very good looking and everybody hated you.
True or false
Just like now!
Urinate in the tank. It can't get worse.
I mean if you are into that, that's fine.
@@MichaelsFishRoom Covid boredom does interesting things.
Hey - off topic. I bought 8 Odessa barbs a little over 2 years ago. 3-4 are beautiful and much much larger than the other 3-4, which seem stunted and relatively bland. Have you ever seen different growth rates from the same batch of fish? It's bizarre to me.
