I was in Adwa when this album of Aster "Hagere" was released. I was 24. when I hear the music now, after 37 years, it took me back to Adwa, loving friends and the people in Adi abun and Adwa. Before 10 years, I had the chance to go to Adwa, Adi abun. I was excited to meet some of my friends. Sadly, when I approached to the house of my most loving friend, I was shocked to hear her death. I pray her soul rest in peace. But as I listen to this music, I feel everything buried in my hear moving. Good, bad, love, etc.

She opened eyes to senior singers such as Bizunesh and Hirut and even several male singers. It is only after her that the Ethiopian music started making money. Aster is an irreplaceable icon. This healing and soft voice of Aster is so sweet to listen to especially when you are missing home and living in Diaspora. When I first heard this song in the early 80's I was in Kenya and I cried like a baby remembering my family, friends and country! This is still relevant to this day because millions of us are still living overseas away from our homes and families. Wow a unique artist Aster is. Thank you Aster and God Bless you for this beautiful and timeless song!
Sadly, the rule of nature doesn't allow us to go back and do things the same way to enjoy as we used to. However, the album like this one take us back in time to dig deep in our hearts to bring all the memories that had been burried long ago. So, we can enjoy it again as if it happens now

Amazing Story! I think you were a solider at that time. I was 15 years old boy at that time. It was very very hard time but it gone after 12 years I graduated from high school in Ethiopia,shewa. Now it's almost 20 years after I Left my country and I'm living good life. Thank you God! So Aster Awake song is new to me still now after 42 years. I saw her in Los angle Aster Awake last week in vedio when she was performances for Ethiopian Festa Beal 2024 A .C . She was doing awesome!

1975, our Calander. Revising for my 10th grade exams. Didn’t have a tape-recorder but could hear a neighbour playing “Melahin Nigeregn” from this album. So distant, so faint, so soul-filling was the song I gazed at the horizon and drifted into a peaceful life that I can look back now and feel “I’m glad I was there and heard this song.” Thanks Aster for gifting us these happy memories.
The first time I listened this music, "Hode Mela" was while I was 12 years old and grade 5 @Ayalew Mekonen school, Durbete. The radio program had been provided under a big tree. I remember the melody of this music was used during Amharic course radio program. By the time I didn't know that the music was Aster's. Lots of memories...How many of you remember this? Amazing Story! I think you were a solider at that time. I was 15 years old boy at that time. It was very very hard time but it gone after 12 years I graduated from high school in Ethiopia,shewa. Now it's almost 20 years after I Left my country and I'm living good life. Thank you God!

1975, our Calander. Revising for my 10th grade exams. Didn’t have a tape-recorder but could hear a neighbour playing “Melahin Nigeregn” from this album. So distant, so faint, so soul-filling was the song I gazed at the horizon and drifted into a peaceful life that I can look back now and feel “I’m glad I was there and heard this song.” Thanks Aster for gifting us these happy memories.

The first time I listened this music, "Hode Mela" was while I was 12 years old and grade 5 @Ayalew Mekonen school, Durbete. The radio program had been provided under a big tree. I remember the melody of this music was used during Amharic course radio program. By the time I didn't know that the music was Aster's. Lots of memories...How many of you remember this? In case you came across this.
