@@SpadeApeiron you dont exactly need to have a clan, there is a destiny 2 lfg server for finding raid groups the general lfg typically want you to know how to do mechanics but i think there is a sherpa one somewhere in that server for new raiders to have experienced guide help them
I really like this raid, I like how they finally make a new enemy boss type instead of your usual boss strike but with a shield that needs to be mechanically taken down to actually damage them, hopefully I can actually get the chance to complete it sooner or later

I like how the new boss isn’t like athion or Taniks where they slowly walk around while you do stuff with only killing you with wipes vs rhulk where he flys around and beats the hell out of you like kicking you or beating you with a staff or blasting your shit with a goddamn laser beam
I love the prophecy, and how it was revealed bit by bit by different teams completing the raid. Even though it has no significance other than lore, it helps make it feel like the community together is uncovering a mystery, and lots of people can play a part in it. Love stuff like that.
My absolute favorite part about doing this raid Day One was when my friends and I got to Acquistion and began scoping out the area and giving names to each of the symbols. When one of my friends and I got to the room with the "Grieve" symbol above it, we both said "Depression" in unison, utterly confusing the rest of our clan until they came over, looked at the symbol, and went "Damn that's actually a really fitting name." Depression has now replaced Grieve whenever we do Vow of the Disciple.
I missed the start but I sat with your group the whole day. You guys did amazing, and deserved the W. Worlds 1st or not, everyone that day put in effort to be proud of, and you guys did an amazing job. Keep making great content like this.
It didn't make the cut but on Evan's stream during one of the Rhulk wipes it fired everyone hundreds of feet away from the arena and it was a beautiful moment.

For the first encounter, my team thought it was “two truths and a lie” like how savathun had mentioned a few times in the campaign. We would consistently get rooms that correlated with our theory…until we didnt😭
The pyramid fleet is lead by one massive pyramid ship far larger than the rest of them. I think its safe to assume that the Darkness flagship will be the patrol area for Lightfall or Final Shape
This day one raid race was insane and I think that it is amazing that Worlds first came back after all of that. Really glad that my first Day One experience was in this raid.

This was my first day 1 experience, and oh MAN was it fun. We got error-coded at the start, but dusted ourselves off and managed to finish up to Exhibition before the 24 hours were up. While we might not have gotten the clear, it really brought my fireteam/clan together in a really awesome way
Bummer that you didn’t have the time for the completion because of error codes among all things but you managed to achieve what many of the playerbase have forgotten about…having fun. Also, why were you and your team so dusty? You live in a desert or a haunted house or something?

Im glad to see a real boss in destiny. It’s the first big boss which isn’t waiting to get killed during a dmg phase. He strikes back and is still a tread to the players. For somebody who played wow and raided mythic, it’s always a joke when somebody tells me how hard a raid or boss in destiny is. I enjoy the style of destiny raid bosses. I think it’s one of the best ways to design a boss in a shooter. Bungie should keep going on to design bosses like rhulk.
I love how we get Rhulk's glave as a drop, it reminds me of the point Evan made in the strike exclusive loot about getting a piece of the boss with the 'Bob' example from that video
rhulk is my new favorite raid boss not just because he hits the raid team with a chun li combo but also because of his narration about his history in the story mission after the raid.
It still warms my heart to see everyone giving Debra Wilson the credit she deserves. Never has there been such a perfect talent to bring the perfect villain to life. 💗

Great job on the video Evan. As much as I love this game, I never have enough time to devote to it like I want to. I'm one of those that lives vicariously through all of you guys that stream your gameplay. And I truly love how this gaming community gets together after all this time.
It is always odd to me when I hear people say that warlocks have a hard time on jump puzzles. I'm a warlock main and I am almost always the one ahead in any jumping puzzles.
Those that say are usually not using strafe jump or top tree dawn for jumping puzzles. All classes can easily do puzzles, stompees + triple jump for hunter, lion rampart + strafe lift for titan, top tree dawn for warlock
Our team actually figured out the acquisition encounter 30 minutes after the raid dropped, but we got anteatered so many times we spent 6 hours on it :(
we figured out first in like 40-50 min but spent like 4 hours cuz everytime we got to last phase we got coded, and caretaker was figured out hella fast but the dmg check was too much
43:00 Rhulk is associated with Savathun and Hive worm Gods, he's a new race but not "the first new enemy" by your logic. Riven was a wish dragon and just as new as Rhulk using your reasoning.
I remember doing this raid day 1 with my clan and on my lord the server issues were rough as hell! About 9 hours of the 48 hours we had total were spent getting ant-eatered while the rest was dealing with the Caretaker! Unfortunately we didn't get past the relic encounters on those two days but we were still proud of how far we got since half of us were new to day 1's. Amazing raid but horrible buggy issues with the servers
Idea- make contest mode last the weekend. People can still get hyped up about raid race and all that, but for day 1 people even if you have a strategy it might take a while to get it to work
Your idea has come to reality mate. The new raid will have 2 days of contest, with an emblem for the 24hr clearance and then for the 48hr clearance as well. Definitely a great change 👍🏻

Fun fact: When a guardian was transporting rhulks body his sparrow malfunctioned and he ended up crashing. Rhulks body leaked some sort of goo which touched the guardian, slowly corrupting him and turning him into rhulk. Thankfully the guardian knew this and took his own life to save countless others, but it was definately a close call. (Something like that)
While I couldn't do day 1, I came in a few days after and ran it with an LFG (I have no friends) and it was probably one of my favorite experiences I've ever had in the game, It took me like 9 hours and 4 team members leaving but I got it done. One of my proudest achievements. cant wait for the raid jacket to arrive. :D
This raid was my first Day 1 that I ever attempted, and I was frustrated since my team was stuck at Acquisition for more than 5 hours. The team was very disorganized and stubborn, but I eventually left and joined another team, and we were able to complete the raid. Despite the frustrations, I am very pleased with completing the raid, and am already prepping for the next race. We all need to start somewhere, amiright?
Our team was big sad, we beat Math Class (not certain about other teams) to damage phase and final stand on Rhulk but failed on damage. Took 4 times at final stand to get it done and by that point we ended 35th place. So close but so far.
Did your team have much issues with error codes/stability/etc. during the run? Only curious, the fact of if you did or didn’t or somewhere in between doesn’t invalidate any of your talent or achievement (just to be clear).
Watch at 1.5x speed to make up for the intentionally slow narration. Kind of douchey to make the video longer than needed and talk slowly to stretch it out. Also, it's even more douchey not to pay people what they deserve.

encounters of vow are disciples bog acquisition caretaker exhibition rhulk 4th encounter exhibition is the hardest encounter 1st encounter disciples bog is the easiest
Day one; Acquisition was insane for my team. We had only run it about 3 times and had figured out what we had to do in the encounter. We were about equal with all the streamers we were watching while playing and realized that we were ahead when we had it all figured out. We had a clean run, about one or two deaths and halfway through the third round we got Ant Eater. It was heartbreaking, feeling like we would be the first to Care Taker at least and gain a lead just to be hit by error code after error code for 5 hours. At that point, we took a break and came back 2 hours later to finally be able to get through and at least try Caretaker.
Most streamer teams beat Caretaker with cheeses anyway (example x2 raid flags) or bugs (Caretaker would be stunned for a whole lot of time). The Outbreak Perfected strat was a very good strategy though, most teams use it in normal Vow as a switch backup.
I know vow day one was terrible from both watching and playing but it’s by far the most replay able it’s easy to understand without being boring and the same experience every time like garden of salvation overall I give it a 10 better than last wish as far as after contest goes
LFG for this raid has been a very enjoyable experience for me. The only downside I’ve seen is people who have a bad time jumping from platform to platform with the relic in their hand
with the funnel web, submission, null compose, ascendancy, forbearance, deliverance, bequest, any non sunset 900 rpm, felwinters lie, salvagers salvo, and any good craft able weapon we might enter another pinnacle type state but a not as strong.
I was originally upset about the extension, but learning more about all the soft locks makes me realize how much time it really cost teams. Thanks evan for the great video!
For Aquisition my team thought that each totem got one of the three symbols and you had to find each one and shoot it in the order they were revealed by the chieftains.
we had it figured out until entering symbols, instead of entering symbols we thought we had to reveal 3 symbols on the left/right of room and enter it like a combination lock. never even thought of just entering all 3 teams until like 20 min later
I did VotD with an lfg where we all were doing it for the first time and we got all the way to the last room in the third encounter where everyone had to get off.
I love this style of video essay Evan! Please know that there’s a lot of people that appreciate the long video style because it gives us a nice Momento acknowledging the very important event that is this raid. I know you said you’re aiming to shorten the length of videos, but do you know that there are people, like myself, that actually do enjoy every last minute of a longer video like this. :) thanks for the hard work and the epic breakdown of the raid.
I remember raid racing this, we were world first for a while (Lucent Spears an AUS team) but we got so stuck on the care taker purely from the damage check. We took so long cause the buginess and remember that this is probably if we didnt finish the contest mode
regarding caretaker; my day one team spent about 6 or 7 hours trying to beat the anteater boss between the opening escort mission and the first encounter with the obelisks. frustrations were high by that point. then we took an hour break and came back and immediately cleared obelisk. fast forward to caretaker, we finally get the kill and get soft locked. we had to rekill the boss and we actually got loot, idk if it's because we had went to orbit and changed leader that we were able to get it, but we broke for the night before third encounter. we lost a member for day 2 because tensions were so high from all the network and raid issues, and our replacement hadn't cleared caretaker the previous day. so by the time the "24 hour" window was over, we had gotten Rhulk to maybe 15% on our best attempt, but we had 3 caretaker kills and I had to settle with being happy with that. apart from the connection issues, which yea are annoying but are the price of success in MMOs and WQ has been generally speaking a big success for Bungie, the raid was a great experience. i know it's only week 3 of the raid but i haven't gotten bored of running it yet.
I love this raid so much. I try to savor every run I do as I know there will be a time where it will be forgotten or it may no longer exist. One of my biggest regrets about Leviathan. I truly hope that I can teach people this raid for years to come

Im glad to see a real boss in destiny. It’s the first big boss which isn’t waiting to get killed during a dmg phase. He strikes back and is still a tread to the players. For somebody who played wow and raided mythic, it’s always a joke when somebody tells me how hard a raid or boss in destiny is. I enjoy the style of destiny raid bosses. I think it’s one of the best ways to design a boss in a shooter. Bungie should keep going on to design bosses like rhulk.

rhulk is my new favorite raid boss not just because he hits the raid team with a chun li combo but also because of his narration about his history in the story mission after the raid.
It still warms my heart to see everyone giving Debra Wilson the credit she deserves. Never has there been such a perfect talent to bring the perfect villain to life. 💗

I love how exhibition forces everyone to use a relic at least once. No where to hide from the mechanics
It is always odd to me when I hear people say that warlocks have a hard time on jump puzzles. I'm a warlock main and I am almost always the one ahead in any jumping puzzles.
Those that say are usually not using strafe jump or top tree dawn for jumping puzzles. All classes can easily do puzzles, stompees + triple jump for hunter, lion rampart + strafe lift for titan, top tree dawn for warlock
Our team actually figured out the acquisition encounter 30 minutes after the raid dropped, but we got anteatered so many times we spent 6 hours on it :(
My team got stuck on caretaker, but we figured that shit out in literally 2 minutes
we figured out first in like 40-50 min but spent like 4 hours cuz everytime we got to last phase we got coded, and caretaker was figured out hella fast but the dmg check was too much

I remember doing this raid day 1 with my clan and on my lord the server issues were rough as hell! About 9 hours of the 48 hours we had total were spent getting ant-eatered while the rest was dealing with the Caretaker! Unfortunately we didn't get past the relic encounters on those two days but we were still proud of how far we got since half of us were new to day 1's. Amazing raid but horrible buggy issues with the servers
Idea- make contest mode last the weekend. People can still get hyped up about raid race and all that, but for day 1 people even if you have a strategy it might take a while to get it to work
Your idea has come to reality mate. The new raid will have 2 days of contest, with an emblem for the 24hr clearance and then for the 48hr clearance as well. Definitely a great change 👍🏻

Fun fact: When a guardian was transporting rhulks body his sparrow malfunctioned and he ended up crashing. Rhulks body leaked some sort of goo which touched the guardian, slowly corrupting him and turning him into rhulk. Thankfully the guardian knew this and took his own life to save countless others, but it was definately a close call. (Something like that)

While I couldn't do day 1, I came in a few days after and ran it with an LFG (I have no friends) and it was probably one of my favorite experiences I've ever had in the game, It took me like 9 hours and 4 team members leaving but I got it done. One of my proudest achievements. cant wait for the raid jacket to arrive. :D
This raid was my first Day 1 that I ever attempted, and I was frustrated since my team was stuck at Acquisition for more than 5 hours. The team was very disorganized and stubborn, but I eventually left and joined another team, and we were able to complete the raid. Despite the frustrations, I am very pleased with completing the raid, and am already prepping for the next race. We all need to start somewhere, amiright?

Hey dude, cool video, for your next one you should do a video where you don't treat your editors like subhuman trash.
Our team was big sad, we beat Math Class (not certain about other teams) to damage phase and final stand on Rhulk but failed on damage. Took 4 times at final stand to get it done and by that point we ended 35th place. So close but so far.
Still though well done! Top 100 is a huge achievement but top 40? Says a lot about your team so good job.

Watch at 1.5x speed to make up for the intentionally slow narration. Kind of douchey to make the video longer than needed and talk slowly to stretch it out.
Also, it's even more douchey not to pay people what they deserve.

Day one; Acquisition was insane for my team. We had only run it about 3 times and had figured out what we had to do in the encounter. We were about equal with all the streamers we were watching while playing and realized that we were ahead when we had it all figured out. We had a clean run, about one or two deaths and halfway through the third round we got Ant Eater. It was heartbreaking, feeling like we would be the first to Care Taker at least and gain a lead just to be hit by error code after error code for 5 hours. At that point, we took a break and came back 2 hours later to finally be able to get through and at least try Caretaker.
Most streamer teams beat Caretaker with cheeses anyway (example x2 raid flags) or bugs (Caretaker would be stunned for a whole lot of time). The Outbreak Perfected strat was a very good strategy though, most teams use it in normal Vow as a switch backup.
I know vow day one was terrible from both watching and playing but it’s by far the most replay able it’s easy to understand without being boring and the same experience every time like garden of salvation overall I give it a 10 better than last wish as far as after contest goes

I agree with replayability, additionally, the unique raid aesthetic is always amazing but VotD is up there with GoS (the best aesthetic in a raid imo)

LFG for this raid has been a very enjoyable experience for me. The only downside I’ve seen is people who have a bad time jumping from platform to platform with the relic in their hand
with the funnel web, submission, null compose, ascendancy, forbearance, deliverance, bequest, any non sunset 900 rpm, felwinters lie, salvagers salvo, and any good craft able weapon we might enter another pinnacle type state but a not as strong.
I was originally upset about the extension, but learning more about all the soft locks makes me realize how much time it really cost teams. Thanks evan for the great video!
We got through the opening encounter and first encounter in around 2 and a half hours
For Aquisition my team thought that each totem got one of the three symbols and you had to find each one and shoot it in the order they were revealed by the chieftains.
we had it figured out until entering symbols, instead of entering symbols we thought we had to reveal 3 symbols on the left/right of room and enter it like a combination lock. never even thought of just entering all 3 teams until like 20 min later
I did VotD with an lfg where we all were doing it for the first time and we got all the way to the last room in the third encounter where everyone had to get off.

Please know that there’s a lot of people that appreciate the long video style because it gives us a nice Momento acknowledging the very important event that is this raid. I know you said you’re aiming to shorten the length of videos, but do you know that there are people, like myself, that actually do enjoy every last minute of a longer video like this. :) thanks for the hard work and the epic breakdown of the raid.

I remember raid racing this, we were world first for a while (Lucent Spears an AUS team) but we got so stuck on the care taker purely from the damage check. We took so long cause the buginess and remember that this is probably if we didnt finish the contest mode

regarding caretaker; my day one team spent about 6 or 7 hours trying to beat the anteater boss between the opening escort mission and the first encounter with the obelisks. frustrations were high by that point. then we took an hour break and came back and immediately cleared obelisk. fast forward to caretaker, we finally get the kill and get soft locked. we had to rekill the boss and we actually got loot, idk if it's because we had went to orbit and changed leader that we were able to get it, but we broke for the night before third encounter. we lost a member for day 2 because tensions were so high from all the network and raid issues, and our replacement hadn't cleared caretaker the previous day. so by the time the "24 hour" window was over, we had gotten Rhulk to maybe 15% on our best attempt, but we had 3 caretaker kills and I had to settle with being happy with that. apart from the connection issues, which yea are annoying but are the price of success in MMOs and WQ has been generally speaking a big success for Bungie, the raid was a great experience. i know it's only week 3 of the raid but i haven't gotten bored of running it yet.

I love this raid so much. I try to savor every run I do as I know there will be a time where it will be forgotten or it may no longer exist. One of my biggest regrets about Leviathan. I truly hope that I can teach people this raid for years to come
