I choose to stay at the Hotel Borobudur in central Jakarta. Perfect location and the price was just under $100 for a night, including breakfast. This was the lowest price I ever paid for a 5-star luxury hotel, so I was not sure what to expect. Join me on my day at this hotel in Jakarta.

The staircase in the lobby is so beautiful, it feels like a Hollywood star would walk down it!
The hotel feels a bit historical, but the room is comfortable and the view outside the window is great!
It’s great to have such great food by the pool, and the lights at night make it feel like it’s Christmas every day!
See you in Indonesia next year, looking forward to the new series, thank you very much for sharing! 👍🥰🙏

Borobudur Hotel is a grande dame with a lot of history. For many Jakartans of a certain age, it was the place to be with the most popular club in the annex building. Many locals would also tell you that it’s the best place to have sop buntut (oxtail soup).
20:06 not everything in Indonesia has to be eaten with your hand. Even if you go to a street side stall and eat nasi goreng with your hand you will get stared at, it’s very weird 😂

Wow what a great hotel, it's a legend hotel, built in 1963 during the Soekarno presidency, it used to be a Dutch colonial military base, located near the State Palace, this hotel used to be used as a place to stay for state guests. In the 1970s the hotel was renovated and enlarged to 695 rooms, 12 levels, on 23 March 1974 it was inaugurated by President Soeharto.

Keeen... Its always curious to watch your new vlog as the notification was coming into my phone 😂❤
The miniatur of Borobudur Temple in the Hotels garden is really nice, its one of world's 7 miracle a couple years ago, the same with Taj Mahal, Pisa Tower, etc. I dont know if Borobudur Temple still worlds miracle now 🤔🤔
You need spoon to eat Nasi Goreng Ken... 😄 But you can eat with your hand in KFC, McD, and also Nasi Padang Restaurant 👍😄.
Honestly your room quite overpricing for me, as I often stay in more amazing room with the rate only IDR 800k -900K. In my duty trip I've got corporate price from the hotel.
I quite Impressed with the Hotels Lobby, full of the Decoration from West Sumatera Culture, My Homeland 🥰🥰. Ok Im still waiting for another vlog of Indonesia , still hope for West Sumatera's Vlog someday, Bye Ken.... 🥰🥰

Thank you, Ken, for visiting Indonesia and spreading kindness in Jakarta and Bandung. May you always be blessed with good health and be able to return to Indonesia next year.
By the way, I watched your video where you stayed at the oldest hotel in Malaysia. I have some recommendations for the oldest hotels in Indonesia that are still open, along with their year of construction and locations:
    1. Hotel Majapahit, Surabaya - 1910
    2. Hotel The Phoenix, Yogyakarta - 1918
    3. The Hermitage Hotel, Jakarta - 1923
    4. The Shalimar Hotel, Malang - 1930s
    5. Hotel Tandjung Sari, Bali - 1960
    6. Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta - 1962
    7. Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta - 1964
Hopefully, this can be a reference for where you stay on your next adventure!

Nasi goreng from street vendor would be around 15.000 - 20.000, but in my case there are no street vendor near my house 😅 so i always go for online deliveries, and my favorite nasi goreng is 'chinese style seafood nasi goreng' costed around 75.000. so 100.000++ for a massive plate of nasi goreng in a 5 star hotel sounds like a deal. And by the way we don't eat nasi goreng with hands 😂 it'd be a nightmare

Mosques narrate the story and show the state of that particular area, usually mosques are funded by the locals (at least in here Algeria) except for the big ones that are funded by the government, so if a mosque is big and has a lot of ornaments and lights that means there is a lot of people in the area with good amount of rich people, if it is big with basic architecture and les ornaments that means a lot of people with a lower economical status, etc.
So, usually people visit the mosques to pray and interact with the locals.

    Sure, use spoon 🥄
Many Indonesian also eat nasi goreng with a spoon.
Perhaps because it's usually served hot. Also the loose and oily rice makes it easier to eat with a spoon.

Based on the history. Friend rice (Nasi Goreng) is not originally from Indonesia but it is originally from China. Fried rice has been around since 4000 BC as a Chinese traditional dish. so when Chinese people migrated to other countries, one of them is Indonesia, they introduced fried rice to the new countries they lived in. they make fried rice based on the spices found in that country.

Indonesians are very friendly. And i love the fact that there are beers available everywhere in Indonesia, which is harder to find in Malaysia, except in super expensive bars.
But all in all, Thailand wins it all for me. They have everything

Indonesia has the biggest Buddhist temples and hundreds others...many volcanoes, big lakes and waterfalls...as well as more diverse wildlife. Better choice for adventures...but if you are looking for nightlife, then go to Thailand.

@@MultiDivebomber I'm not into "nightlife" at all. I don't like Bali, Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Pahngan etc.
I just want to have the option to sit in a bar, have a beer, and watch the sunset. Although Indonesia has stunning nature and great culture, it's easier for me as a solo female traveler to move around in Thailand.

To answer your questions about mosques,if i visit a nation with muslim majority population, visiting mosques is definitely in the itinerary. because it counts as landmark would be a waste if i don't visit and pray there.
But if i visit some places with little to none islamic presence i won't go out of my way to find mosques. even without it i would fare just fine, just find clean places, put on praying mat and make sure it points to the right direction. Often times within my own accomodation where am staying at.
Can't speak for everyone obviously and am not the most pious muslim myself but yea, that's how i usually do.
