Me tooo. I get so excited when where i live becomes 14°C suddenly!! Around September is when the vibes are real.
Do more of these for 2019, please.
Soon!
R.I.P. Borders Books.
:-(
They were the chain I preferred! They had an actual "Horror" section instead of mixing the titles between Scifi/Fantasy and general Fiction.
Miss them .......
When did Borders get closed down for good?
Our hometown BAM is a dollar tree now! First place I remember wanting to spend the night in besides our library. When my dad started the conversation about Summer jobs, my first pick was the AMC, I got hired at BAM, and loved it. If you could put the smell of books in a candle...
Amazing books! I recently read Disappearance at Devil's Rock and looooved it. For me, every Halloween it's time to re-read Ray Bradbury's Halloween Tree and Something Wicked this way comes :)
+Vikinga Lectora (Marian) hell yeah Bradbury!! Thanks for the compliment. Checking out your channel now!
Nice recommendations, Adam. For a vintage Halloween tale, I would suggest Joe R. Lansdale's The Nightrunners. It's such a great, punchy book with an awesome Halloween vibe. Also, have you read anything by Tim Curran? His new novella, Corpse Rider, is fantastic (despite the shitty title). Give him a try if you haven't yet.
I want to grab CORPSE RIDER, like Curran.
Great video, Adam! I HAVE TO get a copy of SGJ's After the People Lights Have Gone Off!
+Tim Meyer it's a great book. And cool looking, as a bonus.
Thank you so much for the recommendations. I'm looking forward to reading Painted Monsters and Disappearance at Devil's Rock.
+kimoxxx awesome, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
Great list! I loved Mongrels and Disappearance at Devil's Rock, also. I'd recommend Adam Nevill's "The Ritual" for a spooky Halloween read!
I've been hearing great things about Nevill. Gotta check him out.
I'm reading "the dunwich horror by hp lovecraft" for Halloween and "pet sematary by Stephen king"
+Diego Maria Cardona Pet Sematary is one of my top favorite King books! Enjoy and happy Halloween!
Great reviews man! I think I'm gonna get all of these actually haha, trying to get back into fiction reading
+Syon Das thanks, Syon! All these books are pretty different but I love them all in their own ways. Hope you enjoy, most of my videos are horror movie reviews that come with book recommendations, if you need further reading.
I have the Paul Tremblay book in my "to buy" list. Just purchased a big Amazon book haul containing 2 of yours, so I will check out some of the others on this list soon. Every year my Halloween tradition is to read "Once Upon A Halloween" by Richard Laymon.
+babylovesturtle awesome! Thank you! As far as traditions go, you can't go wrong with Laymon!
I'm kind of obsessed with the Penguin anthology "American Supernatural Tales". I always take it off my shelf around Halloween
I have that one! It's good!
lol, I just received Tribesmen in the mail yesterday and was looking through CZcams for some reviews of these types of books and found your channel. I had no idea you were on youtube, now subbed. Didn't read Tribesmen yet and it is my first novel by you but it looks right up my alley being that I love Cannibal flicks of old.
Haha. That's awesome! I hope you like both the book and the channel. But mostly hope you like the book. :)
And THANK YOU!!!!
Adam Cesare
thanks for the reply and I already love the channel, have just about watched 3/4 of all the videos today. I have a very good idea that i will love the book, will probably read it next as I am in the middle of Clickers now. Next up of yours that I want Is bottom feeders, the giant monster/weird animal genre is another favorite of mine.
CLICKERS is great! Bottom Feeders is a novella I co-wrote with Cameron Pierce, so if you don't like it blame him. :-) (but seriously, we also wrote another aquatic horror novella together, so we enjoy going on creature feature jaunts as co-writers)
new subscriber. need more horror recommendations in booktude. I appreciate this video.
TamikaUploaded anything by Riley Sager.
Witness in West Virginia by Thomas C. Stuhr
Thanks for the recommendations.
You've probably already read it, but Ghost Road Blues by Jonathan Maberry is a great book.
I've read some Maberry but not that one, will have to check out.
A Head Full of Ghosts is probably my favorite horror book. I recommend it to everyone who asks me about horror literature. I'm currently reading Paul Tremblay's 'The Cabin At The End Of The World'. He really has a great way of combining psychology and supernatural elements. 'Disappearance At Devil's Rock' is on my shelf to be read next (:
I just bought the kindle version of Head Full of Ghosts. Can't wait to read it!!!! Also the book The Cabin At The End of The World, isn't that the movie Knock at the Cabin? I just watched that last weekend and OMG SOOOOOOOO good!!!! I bet the book is way better!
Four years later and come back to these videos. Dude, Halloween everyday all the time, even as an adult.
Great list, just a heads up. Disappearance at Devils Rock is unreadable on an E-reader (Paul is aware of it and issued some info no his blog). Make sure to pick up a physical copy.
+starkblast did not know this! This was one of my Audible credits. So can vouch for the quality of the audiobook narration. It's a huge publisher, hoping they have the ebook fixed soon (or already have).
How does the Halloween anthology compare to the other anthology October Dreams? I've been wanting to pick up Halloween for a while after seeing this recommendation the first time, but a few reviewers on Goodread and Amazon have suggested October Dreams as a better alternative.
New subscriber and fellow writer- (unpublished)- Just wanted to say hey! Good job, and that Sharp Objects by G. Flynn is definitely her best novel by far.
+tikikitten I love it!
Welcome aboard and good luck with your writing!
Oldie but goodie Night in Lonesome October by Richard Layton! I walk at night a lot and this one scared me.
Love watching recommendations by other male readers, especially horror novels.
Love your channel. Just subscribed to it and your website. What is project Black T-Shirt? I can't seem to locate an explanation. I am probably looking over it.
+Tom Jeffers hi Tom, thanks so much for the sub and the kind words. You're not overlooking it, Project: Black T-Shirt is just my halfassed attempt at branding. I'm a writer with a bunch of traditionally published books, but for my self-released stuff I came up with the name Black T-Shirt Books. There's a better explanation of the name in my first video (a bluray review, I think), but that's the gist of it. I hope you keep enjoying!!
I just set Halloween by Paula Guran on hold in a used shop :)
Consider doing a video where you show off all your DVDs and Blu-rays. Even just a slow pass with the camera would be awesome. You look like quite the collector.
I've had a few more people tell me they wanted this. Maybe October is the month!
Moron this is about Books, you should learn to read above a 2and grade level then prehaps you can enjoy books too dear!
I love a spooky tbr of anthologies!
Paula Grons Halloween is the bomb, I read it. Good stuff
Could you do a Top 5 horror books for a summer night?
+WalkerFilms whoa! This is a great idea! Will try and do it in the beginning of June! Thank you!
awesome list & channel
+Kaleb Elmore (FBS) thanks Kaleb. Hope that you keep enjoying.
Since I am an English major I go to Hamlet and McBeth, the first great horror stories. Ghosts and witches and in Hamlet everyone dies. Then Faustus with a man selling his soul for knowledge and Hellen of Troy. Then early American terror, Salem witch trails where ultimately 19 men and women were hanged and one man was pressed to death. Plus headless horseman.
I just might have to abandon the book I'm currently reading and read the last one.
It's really good. Will leave you feeling cold and stressed. But I guess that's the intended effect!
A bit strange but I want to read sharp object but I want the book with the razor on the cover but I can’t find it anywhere, any help?
Hey Jake, I'm betting that whatever edition I'm holding up in the video is out of print. I'm not 100% it'll work, but my guess would be if you buy from amazon but select to get the book "used" from a 3rd party vendor, they'll probably send you the older edition.
Adam Cesare thanks il have a look it’s just a little thing it’s not going to take anything away form the book but it’s like ocd I guess I like the design a lot more
Nice choice of books!
+Wyrd Horror Thank you!
You should read The Dark Descent. It's a large anthology of dark fiction. I think it's from Tor Books. It's very good.
The thumbnail had me cracking up
Adam have you read GRIMM MEMORIALS by R. Patrick Gates?
+Anthony Martinez I'll put it on my list, haven't read it!
It's pretty fucked up! An adult Grimm's fairy tales trip.
good list
Thank you, Sandra.
I need to read Sharp objects 😲
+Judith Chavarin it's great! You'll love it.
If you put aside your disbelief and just take the story for real.... The Amityville Horror. I read it at work in college in broad daylight and it gave me chills. Pretty quick read in a couple hours but worth it. You won’t be able to put it down once you stop.
Please Check out and review. Thomas C. Stuhr
'Witness in West Virginia'
E-book.
Hey Adam big fan me and you see eye to eye with horror man I just recently got a shit ton of your books tribesmen and video night also zero lives remaining and con season and gotta say I love it all man I'm enjoying your work and it's inspired me to write my first horror novel Matheson grove which I hope I finish soon so you could check it out but enuff fanboying lol I wanted to recommend a horror writer to you maybe you read him idk but his name nick cutter he's really good he's right up your alley with books like the troop and the deep also his newest title little heaven which is pretty good you should check him out I really think you'll like him ! Well thanks for the great books looking forward to reading more from you and hopefully you keep it up with the video thanks !
+Doom Animal THANKS SO MUCH! It means a lot that you picked up (and enjoyed the books). If you get a spare minute to review any of them on Amazon: that stuff helps me out immensely.
Great to hear about the book! Congratulations. Got a link so we can check it out?
I love Nick Cutter's work. I haven't had a chance to check out Little Heaven yet, but I have it. He actually was kind enough to blurb my novel Mercy House. He's a great writer and a gracious dude!
Adam Cesare Haha great to hear from you Adam I'm happy you wrote back of course I'll do that I enjoyed your books so I'll go on Amazon and give them a review I really enjoyed them and look forward to reading more from you!

the add warning sold me to subscribe
Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge is a good Halloween read.
THANK YOU for reminding me. Every year I'm like "Going to read DARK HARVEST" and like 3 years running I've forgotten. Not this year!
I scrolled through the comments to see if anyone beat me to Dark Harvest.
Please tell me good ghost horror book.
If you enjoyed Sharp Objects definitely check out Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. It's a great winter read and it's better than Gone Girl imo!
Nicole Long I've had it for a while but haven't gotten around to it (probably because I'm bummed I'll be all done with Flynn once I read it) but will have to move it up the list!
Adam Cesare there’s also the short story The Grownup! not quite as good as the other novels but still good.
new subbie but do you tend to choose more male led books? dont want to sound sexist as i am still interested its just a question. thanks
+Sunflower Monroe hi Sunflower, I try to keep a good mix of female authors in my videos (and my reading in general!), but some may skew more male. Hope you enjoy!
Ever read Tim Curran?
I have GRIMWEAVE on my kindle (impulse buy because of a neat cover) but haven't read it yet. Where do you recommend starting?
I've been reading his stuff for years, I started off with Dead Sea, and then Hive. Dead Sea is about some saliors suddenly stuck in a strange sea in an alien world where there are things in the water, and the air, that are trying to kill them, and then things really start to go bad. Hive is a sequel, kinda, to Lovecraft's novella At The Mountain Of Madness, characters will die screaming. I recommend both, but both have since been "restored" so I read the shorter versions. A much later book, Cannibal Corpse, M/C, is about a post-apocaliptic world that only be saved by an outlaw biker gang. God help us all. Curran wears his iinflences on his sleeve. Modern horror pulp at its finest. I posted reviews of all three on Amazon. He's also a Michigan boy, like me. Forgive my herky-jerkey response, I'm posting this response from my hospital room.
Giving the ISBN of the book would go a very long way in helping us acquire the respective book........
I want to read, "my best friends exorcism." Have you read that?
+jp wis no, but I'd like to and I read that author's (Grady Hendrix) last book. It's called Horrorstor and it's printed to look like an IKEA catalog.
I’m sure you’ve probably read it by now, but that book is fantastic and perfect 80s styled horror
Can't get into Tremblay to save my life...
ORRIN GREY RULES
hell yeah
I just finished Sharp Objects and I don't think I'll ever get over it. lol! Ughhhh such a terribly awesome read.
+Megan Hambey with a great ending!
Yes yes yes!!!
👍🏽👍🏽
Blair Witch was one of the most boring, non stories I ever saw
