This is a great English/London stoner anthem from the early 70s - I loves it!! The Quo are a great band - I loves them!! As far as I'm concerned they're up there with the other great London bands like The Who, Sex Pistols etc..
first saw the Quo in B'ham in 1980, seen em several times since, cant wait for the next gig at Shrewsbury quarry in July 2011, 30 plus yrs of the Quo, still rockin.
Rossi is a superb guitarist, a genuine great, but grossly underrated and unconsidered. The original Quo were fantastic. Frank on his own, doing his almost one man show, just brilliant, but Quo now, we’ll they’re not are they. Just call them Rossi and friends do Quo…
This is awesome. Thanks very much for posting it. I just happened across it by the luck of the draw and how good is it ! Pity they didn't keep this raw guitar sound going...just about the best thing I have heard of theirs.
Mid 70s - me n mates putting our 1st real band together. This was a standard in our set. Break The Rules also [16yo lads well pleased with getting the opening right!]. Also wrote our own stuff which all sounded like Sabbath doing a Quo song or vice-versa. But if you were doing a local gig & didn't play a few Quo covers you were dead. Helped that Neil the other guitarist had a complete Rossi vocal delivery. We did break ice by using Paper Plane or Caroline for encore instead of the obligatory Johnny B Goode, whether the punters wanted an encore or not. Liquid Pig from the Wirral, supported once by embryonic OMD!!
Poor mans canned heat as they were known as. Luv the early stuff, still listen to "dog of two head" album. Saw them live in New York city a few years ago, small crowd (they never cracked America) Still one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Francis sings "My eyes were half open...." and indeed....throughout the whole song he seems to having trouble keeping his eyes open at all....seems to be far out....stoooooooooned
Great stuff, People too easily forget their simple early music was so good. It was 'something bout you baby i like' that burst the bubble for me. That was not very good to say the least. This is great
This was made at a time (71) when groups weren't manufactured, most rock bands wrote their own music. The privilege of being there and seeing groups like Quo, Nazarath, Free / Bad Company, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple etc... to name but a few, perform at their best in the 70's as young men you woundn't have such a narrow view point. However my comment was not necessary and apologies for any offence and if you get the chance see some of these now old men perform and perhaps your view may change!
Bueno, mis conocimientos del idioma ingles son limitados, apenas alcanzo a entender que "in my chair" significa "En mi sillon".....porque aqui, en un buen dia, sentado, quizas esperando a una chica,.......o escuchando musica, o leyendo un libro viendo una pelicula.........pero a gustito.....aqui In my chair
@spahnranch69 I'm sure you understand my comment was tongue in cheek, but nevertheless - no, I don't agree with you. I think Quo sweepes the floor with Alice Cooper, Jethro Tull and Edgar Winter. If you only had said Johnny Winter, then I'd agreeed with you. I can't really comment on David Bowie as he's an artist I haven't listened much to.
Don't know why this band never made it big in America when other british boogie acts like Foghat did. Too British, where Foghat sounded like an American band
@Pighood, as a rock music fan from the USA I can understand why this band ever made it big over here. There's nothing about their music to get excited about. Even Grand Funk Railroad was better than these guys.
No Promotion... this is live filmed and played, great song of the first ma kellys crazy spoon... they chanced the music and their style from pop to rock in a half year or so, completley..
Possibly the best track they ever cut.
First record i ever bought. 10 bob and set me up for life. Cool!
An underappreciated indisputable classic. 1970! So mellow to my teen ear then. Lovely.
I've loved this band for over 36 years, they amaze me how long a band can be together for so long.
Glad you enjoyed it mate - Quality like this deserves to be readily available!
I'd hafta insist: Sorrowfully today's world doesn't deserve this jewel.
Awsome song,I hate blues but Quo take it to an interesting level,Rossi is a great guitarist !
The classic line up indeed. Ffing brilliant.
Period.
"This is a song that helped us get us where we possibly are" Rossi Live '76. It's just beautiful.
Long time ago but still so good
hey thankks so much for this!!! havent heard this for about 38 years!!!!! brilliant !!!!
Status Quo best band ever still rockin now !
Status Quo best band ever still rockin now! 2024

classic, simple rock. you cant beat it
Quo was the first band I saw live (1978). Have not heard this song for ages (and never seen the video)- thanks
I remember, it was the perfect sound with my Triumph spedfire on small, empty streets

my Triumpf Spedfire on empty small roads the perfect sound
Thanks for uploading this! My 4yr old son is in heaven watching this- an obsessed fan
❤ sorry for your loss 😢 x
Love this song! Canned Heat style.
Going up the country
Awesome! One of my favourite Quo songs
chugs along beautifully

First live band i ever saw was Quo 1977 blackpool opera house, just replaced Quo live on Cd,tBackwater, 45 hundred times+in my chair best Quo ever.

Buddy
Shitty crappy sick world of today DOESN'T deserve this marvel in any way!
Poor mans canned heat as they were known as. Luv the early stuff, still listen to "dog of two head" album. Saw them live in New York city a few years ago, small crowd (they never cracked America) Still one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Yeah true.. I was a huge Quo fan.. but my mate in America didn’t cotton on to them.. preferring Hendrix & Led Zeppelin. Love this song.
How good is this first record 🤙
wish QUO would do one more C.D. sounding more like THIS !!,back to really good sounding QUO went way to soft rock in the 80's onwards I.M.O.
Classic Quo.....to all those who think Quo are 3 chord wonders, try Francis' solo on Roll over Lay down, nearly impossible
Cooooooooooooool or what!
who needs to search for the fourth chord.
fantastic.
Francis sings "My eyes were half open...." and indeed....throughout the whole song he seems to having trouble keeping his eyes open at all....seems to be far out....stoooooooooned

Isn't it sad that people's comments disappear when others disagree? So much for freedom of speech
It was originally a single only but it's now included on the Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon album as a bonus track.
ahh oh yeah corz!!! i get it nice one lol been doin me head in 4 ages
Check out Shy Guy track. A little gem that morphs mid song from psychedelic to blues boogie.
So So good....... Half open rules.
You know what ?I quite like this dippydoo tune
The dumbest thing I ever did was sell Ma Kelly's and Two Head LP's back in the 70's. Might hafta try ebay to restock my Quo collection!!
am man in a helmet said whats taht ya using!! HA amazin luv this song... any1 explain to me wots its about???? please

the genial thing of this song is, that you can play it on the guitar while you lie in an armchair =)
Kids, that's what happens if you live on a diet of chips, cheap beer and dope: you might accidentally end up making a pretty good record.
Fantastic song and feel by the band before they went commercial. Any Quo fans know which album this originated from? Can only see it on compilations.
It was a non album single from 1970. First released on album on "The Best Of Status Quo" 1973.

Has anyone heard this song when they got together for a one off concert, if not I will post it anyway
Not the full song, but it's great
A man in a hemit was a British Policeman, asking whats that your using!
4 of em fell out the chair...........
pretty stoned boys !!!

yep you're right
got something of 'im hehehe
only he wasn't as depressed as mr cobain was...
ma kelly's greasy spoon is the one your looking for.
Pity they never caught on in the USA....they would have made enough coin to have retired 20 years ago. On second thought...tour and be jammed.
just about what I feel about this one.
Age is similar too ...
Do you think that Status Quo have now done everything with 2 chords possible?
why did it all go wrong eh? they were great.
I don't think Francis Rossi had drilled the hole through his Telecaster at this stage had he???

C'était en 1968.
Well actually I can see the likeness.
Guid stuff. Ah huv this on a RED record.
looks like kurt cobian!
How hurtful. What would Phil and Peggy Mitchell have to say about this?
wen they were gud'

Too British, where Foghat sounded like an American band
Richard wright on guitar😂
All this time I managed to keep it secret 😂
when was that ?!
1970
The album did this come from?

i think he's talking about weed the whole time.. ha
on ma kellys greasy spoon i think
Looks nothing like him or sounds like him!
Ha ha haaa...
John Coughlan always looks so bored.
He reminds me of Charlie Watts at some times..
Truly awful quality.
