    I really enjoy your content, keep doing great work! What will be the best, most fun and balanced cPEDH pod for 4 players in your opinion?

      Thank so much! That's a difficult question, because it will depend on everyone's tastes, playstyles, etc. Personally, I love it when there's an aggro deck, a midrange deck, a combo, and a combo/control deck at the table, so you get a good mix of strategies battling it out. Something like Dargo/Kediss vs. Satyr Enchanter vs. Vizkopa Guildmage vs. Malcolm/Breeches would be a lot of fun for me!
      I did record a video looking at 4 cPDH decks that I think would make for a fun and well-balanced pod, along with 4 bonus decklists to swap in and out depending on who likes what, so maybe between those 8 decks you can find some that would be enjoyable for you and your playgroup! czcams.com/video/Wbh65udzPko/video.html

    Genuinely surprised that I don’t see Generous Gift in your list

    • @ankylosaurmtg
      @ankylosaurmtg  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I haven't loved Generous Gift in testing -- 3 mana can be a lot to hold up, when most of the time I want to be spending that mana on my turn to draw extra cards and advance my game plan. Generous Gift certainly can deal with problematic permanents at instant speed, though, so if it's something you'd want to include, I can definitely see the argument for running it. Thanks for the comment!

      Yah, I suppose the only swap to consider would be Oblivion Ring, but weighing the synergy from card draw and the buff to Yavimaya Enchantress makes it better. I’m sure there is better place for Generous Gift in a spellslinger Azorius deck

    Ever try to jam gond combo in here as well? Seems like green has a lot of dig spells but I guess not enough redundancy to be competitive?

    • @ankylosaurmtg
      @ankylosaurmtg  Před 8 měsíci

      I haven't tried to play Gond combo in the list -- I've seen others go for it, though, as you're right that green can dig for Presence of Gond (and white gets a few aura tutors like Heliod's Pilgrim), and you could run cards like Lead the Stampede to get deeper into your deck looking for Midnight Guard as well. But you're correct that there isn't much redundancy to the pieces you need to combo off, and even if you do draw both pieces, there are so many points during the assembly of the combo where it can be interacted with: one Return to Nature or Aether Spellbomb or Doom Blade or Counterspell can stop you cold, so with three opponents, it seems likely you need at least one or two protection spells before going for the combo as well. And then hope no one has a Breath Weapon or a Prismatic Strands when you go to attack with your army, which will set you back another turn while others get to develop towards their own combos.
      All of this to say, Gond is a tough way to win with in cPDH! Maybe in a few years, if they print more redundant cards for it, it'll be worth revisiting, though. Thanks for the comment!

    Great video! I started building my deck before watching, and I was sucked into Enchantment creatures as cantrips. What do you think of the following: Bearer of Memory, Eiganjo Exemplar, Fang of Shigeki, Glory Bearers, Golden-Tail Disciple, Greater Tanuki, Harvestguard Alseids (some fun shenanigans with this one), Hopeful Eidolon, Humbler of Mortals, Jukai Preserver, Leafcrown Dryad, Lucent Liminid, Nyxborn Courser, Oakheart Dryads, Observant Alseid, Spirited Companion (lol 2 cards) ... anyhoo sorry for the card name spam, just wondering your thoughts :)

    • @ankylosaurmtg
      @ankylosaurmtg  Před 3 měsíci

      I had a number of those creatures in my earlier iterations of the deck -- Fang of Shigeki, Hopeful Eidolon, Spirited Companion, etc. -- but eventually wound up trimming back on them in favor of spells to either protect the commander, or removal like Last Breath or Master's Rebuke to make sure I could take out something like a turn-2 Malcolm or an untapper out of Gretchen.
      I tuned the list to deal with the most popular competitive Pauper EDH commanders as best I could, but if your playgroup isn't as focused on tournament-level PDH, tacking "draw a card" onto your creatures is great! And you can definitely cut some of the spike-ier cards for a more robust creature-base in that case. Thanks for the comment!

      @@ankylosaurmtg Gotcha - I've yet to build my own Commander deck, was just using Moxfield and found some pretty cool interactions. I may build the deck with 110 card options and just iterate as you obviously have done, based on the play group/opponents.

    • @ankylosaurmtg
      @ankylosaurmtg  Před 3 měsíci

      Great idea! Yeah, Satyr Enchanter feels like it has a wide range of deck building options available to it, depending on how casual/competitive you want to make it. It's just an all-around solid value engine in the command zone.

    I do think playing the handful of dorks just to up the t2 capabilities is probably correct. The amount of 3-4 MV spells you have or just hitting satyr t2 is probably worthwhile. I feel like unless you’re seeing a TON of Gretchen and/or Dargo that going a turn slower isn’t as necessary

      Thanks for the comment! I did play a version of the deck that ran mana dorks previously, and didn't love them, but I may give them another shot. One of the big questions I always have is: what to cut?

      @@ankylosaurmtg on that I’m not sure. I’m not familiar enough with the deck to know what would be proper to cut

  • @brettfettbeargaming

    If you were to add more dorks like Pilgrim and Fyndhorn, what would you subtract?

    • @ankylosaurmtg
      @ankylosaurmtg  Před 8 měsíci +1

      That's a good question! If I were adding dorks to the deck, I would maybe shave an Arrest-style aura and one of the smaller buffs like Sentinel's Eyes, or perhaps Lifelink. Whip Silk can be a card draw engine if you have nothing to do, but also doesn't really do too much on its own, so that is a potential cut as well, depending on how many dorks one wanted to add.
