  • This is the first part of a bookbinding series. In this video, I demonstrate how I make my text block using kettle stitch binding.
    Materials I use:
    - 70 gsm book paper
    - Sewing cotton threads
    - Bone folder (the one I'm using is plastic, not real bone)
    - Sewing needle
    - Needle/thumbtack to make holes in paper
    - PVA glue
    - 200 gsm blue paper/cardstock for the endpapers

The stitching looked so easy to do that I was shocked how much difficulty I had to keep everything simple. I ended up with knots, paper torn, loose ends and broken thread. It is very difficult to reach a level of experience where things look easy. And that's before I got to the glue part. Oh my God!

Watching this video has given me the hope i need to make my own journals from scratch ive never done it your way but i have tried with metal wire and it was just too messy and not organized. I kept trying to find videos to teach me how to do it with glue and or thread and so far ive found your channel today! Im gonna try your way now and see how well i can do it. Because whenever someone can teach me something visually i can do it but if its words and nothing else i struggle with that. Learning disabilities can be hard but with people like you, you make it so much better. Thank you😊

Would have been so much easier to see if you would have used colored thread. Thank you for sharing!
