- Top 5 Largest U.S Military Bases Ranked by Population - The United States has by far the strongest military in the world. To maintain its global presence, the U.S has around 800 military bases on foreign sites across every continent except for Antarctica and also known for having the largest defense budget as well as the largest military bases in the world. These expansive military camps support populations of thousands of soldiers, retirees, personnel, and their civilian families. These facilities are used for training and troop deployments, for maintaining and testing weapons systems, for research and education, and for aircraft testing. Given the space these exercises often require, the physical size of these installations can be considerable. We list the five largest U.S military bases in the world ranked by population.

I know there's all sorts of traditions involved and I love military traditions, but I'm kinda surprised that the radicals haven't forced the military to rename the bases named after Confederate generals. They could also go against the one named after Meriwether Lewis, arguing that the Corps of Discovery expedition infringed on Native American territory or some such. Very informative, I knew that several of the bases were huge and like decent sized cities unto themselves, but I didn't know how big they truly were. My dad was stationed at Ft. Hood back in the late 1950's and I've had several friends at one time or another go through Ft. Benning.
The army doesn’t care what lefties think.
@@Retly_Ai No, but they do what the President says, and there's a lefty in the White House at this moment.

why is it most of this camp named after a confederate generals not a Union or US Army generals? what is the story behind it?
Most of these bases are south of the Mason Dixon line which is why they're named after significant confederate soldiers. They weren't union states until after the civil war. Changing the names to Union soldiers would not go over well still to this day. Even tho we all fight on the same side, we must respect the history of these places and the honor these men withheld. Respect!
From 5 largest military bases 3 are named after traitors, insurrectionists and enemies of the United states of America.. If it wasn't tragic this would be funny. Imagine France naming their military base - Fort Petain , after a Nazi collaborationist from the WW2. Or for example if the communist China named their Hainan island submarine base after Chang Kai Shek, to honor the man you fought against for the control of the country... USA is a strange country. We like to talk about our exceptionalism and how special we are.. Oh yes we are - exceptionally f... up and abnormal...
This video goes to show you how screwed up America really is.
How so?
Why make a video about this? You are giving too much information to people.
why not
@@Loreless too much information regarding military intel can lead to terrorist or espionage. Most of the information is relatively known and not classified. But anyone who wants to cause harm to the US who stumbles upon this video can use it for bad reasons.
These are well known bases and none of them are a secret.
Why would you retire in a military base ? Seriously...
