The T handle tap holder you used is also available in a ratchet type for tight spaces. Makes it much easier less prone to oversized threads

Do you need to do anything to the threaded holes to protect against rust in the future?
Thanks for sharing. You say the holes are 1-3/4 on center (which matches my tape rule). The part number you reference "Keeper 2 3/4” Oval Plate Recessed Anchor (Part #89312) (2)" says 2-3/4 on center. Your installation on the video looked perfect. Am I missing something?
The 2 3/4" measurement stated by Keeper is not the center to center distance of the holes, but the overall size measurement.

Question:What is the distance between the bolt holes? Is it 1.75?
Answer:Distance hole to hole is 2-3/4"

Were the holes in question already there that you just had to enlarge them using the tapping tool to fit the M8x1.25 bolts or did you had to drill new holes all together ? If new holes had to be drilled all together, how exactly did you had to position them ?Secondly, How deep did can you go with the tapping tool as to not puncture other underlying components ?
The holes are already there for the factory tie downs, just are not threaded. Because the holes are over the inside of the frame rail there is no concern for interference with other components, thus the length of the bolts is not that critical.
@@TDTVGarage Are you 100% that I wont hit my gas tank? I do believe you are correct about there being a support under those tie downs but after the gas tank recall I am paranoid as hell about tapping or screwing into my dang tank
@@jimv1484 from top of hole to anything under it is greater than the 4 inch tap handle I inserted to checked with.
Could you post link to the exact bolts you bought? Are these the same size as the ones that go into the tie-downs in the top corners of the bed and the top and bottom at the back of the bed? I Know the ones along the sides are bigger, but was hoping the ones for the d-rings and the front and rear tie-downs were the same... I bought what I thought were the right bolts for the tie-downs on Amazon and found they didn't fit properly...
As stated in the video, the bolts for the tiedowns are M8x125x 1-1.5. The bolts in the other tiedowns are M6, too small.
What mm are the bolts for taping?
