Boil a pot of water over the stove, and use a toothpick(I used a clothes pin) and straighten out your feathers. The kettle gets hot quick. Some use an iron but I'm not brave enough to iron my eagle feathers

Could you try holding it further away from the steam so it isn’t such direct heat?
