Millions woke up and went to sleep listening to this album. It's place in music history is epic. Few albums can come close to the impact it had back then. I'm sure you can understand the uniqueness of this musical Masterpiece.
It’s still, after 50 years, my favorite album to listen to all the way through!
Listening to their album "Days Of Future Passed" Is a must listen to from start to finish...It a journey through the ordinary day and they make it sound extraordinary. Great reaction!
Yep yep yep. The whole album is a must.
The Moody Blues were one of the first progressive rock bands in the 60's. This is beautiful album which tells the tale of a day. The whole album is sublime.
I agree 100%! The Moody Blues were part of that "xylem confluence" of rock that burst forth prog bands like Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Floyd....on and on!
This is one of those albums that you need to listen to non-stop front to back as each song blends into the next and tells the story of a common man's daily lives. The orchestras and band played separately and blended together in the studio. Personally, I think the entire album is brilliant. Can't tell you how many copies of this album I wore out.
Went to sleep with this album countless times.
@@AliasMark69 indeed!!!
The Moody Blues are simply on another level. They didn't simply record songs, they created works of art.
The best thing I can tell you is you need to give these Moody Blues songs a lot of latitude. It was a liberating time and musicians were breaking free from the constrictions of the previous generation. The Moody Blues often explored a more melancholy, introspective style of expression. When listening to a full album just enjoy the ride, most of them are continuous play and thematic LPs.
Where I live in the country this song sounds awesome on my outdoor speakers, at 9:30 PM The animals must wonder what the hell is going on because I have no neighbors.
The album was written to be done with a full symphony. A true concept.
WOW!!! I'd never heard the extended version. Beautiful instrumentals❤
I'm so glad you did the extended version instead of shorter radio version
Listening to the whole album Days of Future passed is a must.
The MOODYS are just INCREDIBLE 😅😊
Although a fan of oh so many musicians and bands, these guys are my GOAT band when I don't know what else to play. Early roots of the Prog (or Progressive) music style. They will take you on journeys you never dreamed of, and them some. Get out your head phones, enjoy your favorite adult legal substance, and give yourself permission to get lost. You won't regret it. Trust your elder white grandma here! ❤🕯 You just gained a sub. Mad respect.
This iconic song is getting the attention I knew it would.
This is a section of the album "Days of Future Passed", one of the first concept albums, called "The Afternoon", the first song is "Tuesday Afternoon" written and performed by guitarist Justin Hayward, the second is "Evening Time to Get Away" written and performed by bassist (and cellist} John Lodge, who sings falsetto on many of their other songs.
Such a cool album. Congrats on doing the right thing and listening to those songs together.
It seems like the change between solemn and exuberant is to portray the initial regret that the day is over, then the realization that evening can be the best part.
Mood music man. It just puts you in a good one.
That’s my music you’re enjoying here! Glad you enjoy it!
You well find out this is a deep rabbit hole. "The Story In your Eyes" album version is a good one of theirs but they have soooo many good ones.
The Moody Blues and the London Symphony Orchestra were together on this album Days of Future Past. It's beautiful.
This song has always had such a profound effect on me
I love the ways they changed in mid song and how this song ended. But many of their songs go on from one to another. My fav MB album is "On The Threshold Of A Dream". It's a whole album. You should look into it.
A visual musical wonderland of progressive rock.❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Thanks to Billy Muller for turning me on to The Moody Blues, more than half a century ago.... Some albums are Timeless, still amazing new listeners Generations later.....
This album, Days of Future Passed, was one of the very first progressive rock concept albums. It's metaphorical journey from dawn to dark throughout our various cycles of life. The album starts with the sound of a gong strike played backwards and ends with a gong strike which ties the cycles together, one ending starts a new beginning. As others have said here, this is one of those albums that has to be fully experienced from start to finish in order to get the full impact of it's art.
This is not the long version of Tuesday Afternoon it was two songs off of the concept albums Days Of Future Passed which was released in 1967 and was recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. This album along with Sargeant Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band by the Beatles and Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys was one of the three album's that were groundbreaking for their innovations and influences for that time and years to come.
Great song!! Moody Blues had a unique sound that inspired many other groups later
Sitting in a concert hall crying my eyes out in 19-something something while the guys played this song.
My first year in college: away from home and missing my gf.
A sad and beautiful moment.
I'd love to return then/there . . .
People can say what they want, but this is about an acid trip. Absolutely.
I saw them in the mid 80s when they had there career resurrection! It's in my top 5 concert memories!

@@roberthalpern5454 Good to hear! Glad you like MB! Hopefully you'll play a number of these songs on your channel for the newbies too. Later!
This was smoke a joint, put on the headphones and kick back music ❤️❤️
These guys were very progressive for the times, mid to late sixties, blending soft rock with classical sounds to produce a style that everyone loved but you never heard them at house parties.
The Moody's were about to breakup because they could not buy a hit anymore so they signed on to make a give-a-way album for a company that made stereos using both a rock band and and orchestra to demonstrate how good their systems sounded in either format. The rest is history.
Wow! I love this song!
rhis is not the extended version. at around the 5 minute mark the song changes to the next album track called the evening. the full album should be listened to as it tells a story and this album is the one of 7 concept albums in a row of their 16 total studio albums and numerous solo works
Good Day JM, I follow several reactors for the past 4+ years. I've made hundreds of suggestions that most do them. I notice that you are gaining more new Subs faster than any of them... It's your character and content that is making you so popular....AND. your Patreon page is worth every dime. I am very happy to watch your progression and contribute. Thanks for all the tunes you've done...TOO COOL again.
Love your reaction!! 🔥
In a difficult time as a kid I listened to this album to get me to sleep… A few notes:
-this is two pieces, Tuesday Afternoon & The Evening.
-The Mellotron made the mood of Tuesday Afternoon. Ask someone after they listen for the first time and they will remember an entire orchestra i stead of one instrument.
-Between songs orchestration was used. They hired musicians and called them The London Symphony Orchestra.
-The album is considered by many as the beginning of Prog (Progressive) Rock…
-It is still a great sound to take you to a blissful sleep.
♥
This is my 2nd favorite song (Sounds like it should be in a movie), next to “Nights in White Satin”. Another great song by them is “Timothy Leary’s Dead” or “Timothy Leary is Dead” (Forgot the exact title). The flute I love in it.
Legend of A Mind
@@realmcaz … Yeah!
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band and Ride my see saw
If memory serves -- and it usually doesn't -- I believe that's two separate songs.
Classic
There is so much Moody Blues, they have 3 generation fans from old records found in boxes.
so many songs from my youth are deeply phylisophical (sry, can't spell today) with a very idealistic yearning. minds were being opened, and then blown. thank-you fr a very old canadian boomer who loves your channel very much
The Next one Should Be ( Nights in White Satin . If you do, Check out The Offical Live Version .🔥🔥🔥
play this and get a new subscriber. keep on keepin' on.
A lot of the characteristics of this music can be traced to the influence of classical music in Europe which is much more extensive there than in America...
BTW.... I put the album cover in the Top Ten Greatest
Dude! You let Them pull you into the Next Song, After Tuesday Afternoon! They Structured LP's Differently Back then! This was Modeled after the B side of ABBY ROAD . Where the Songs just seem to Run together! 🤣😂
Yes…live version for sure!
You should see ZZ Top live doing La Grange and Tush I recorded in 2018
I'm probably in the minority here. I prefer the short version and don't really care much about the orchestral stuff.
Actually your listening to another song. It was over at about 5.07. This was two songs
@@kirkhall2099true but you missed the sad part her disdain is for the "orchestra stuff"
