I really like you pointing out how Ben Beckmann was smiling when shanks saw the future. One super interesting thing I’ve noticed a couple times is shanks and Beckmanns subtle emotional relationship. They always seem to be in the same page while also being a sort of sun and moon. In chapter one when shanks is freaking out about higuma having disappeared with luffy, we specifically get a shot of Beckmann kinda calm and smiling talking about it. Of course there’s the famous scene at marineford where they both take on an admiral, the film red special episodes where Ben Beckmann sort or fills in cheering up luffy while shanks and the rest are down in the dumps about uta, and even at wano I always found it interesting how beck had a seemingly blank / calm expression while shanks casually drops that he wants to go get the one piece. I’d really love to get a lot of backstory on those two specifically. Wonder how one of shanks first crew mates was a guy 10 years older than him, wonder specifically how they met
Great points. Beck is also of the highest natural IQs in the series, he’s got Zoro’s edgy vibe and possibly power paired with Sanji’s tactical genius. One of my favorite characters we haven’t gotten enough of

Absolute FIRE video, gave me chills towards the end. Shanks is easily the coolest anime/manga character to me. Part of me wants to see him survive through the whole series but the other part of me wants to be emotionally devastated and see him sacrifice his life for Luffy or something AHHH.

I feel like Shanks using Divine Departure on Kid is relative to Mihawk using his toothpick knife against Zoro and leaving him half dead after he resolved himself to die for this fight, similar to Kid.
100% i se eit similar at least. if shanks wanted to end the new era, he could, i dont see him working against that even in 1079. weve seen shanks allow people to kill within the series, so if oda wanted to bring that back it cud have just been there.while kid isnt luffy in terms of the new era for shanks, kid is one of the saplings he tryna let breathe
@@Parvision- Symbolicaly it also ties back to your point about Divine Departure not being close to being Shank's best attack. Mihawk also stood as an introduction to what was coming in terms of power and absence of mercy in what followed in the story.

This ability could explain why Mihawk was shook for a sec when he saw Zoro’s attack. Maybe he finally saw a future where he was surpassed, just like shanks saw with Luffy and the serpent

The Rayleigh quote about people who live in the present being the ones to change the era may be why Shanks can’t. Shanks might live in the “future” but relying on his observation Haki too much but Luffy and Blackbeard being chaotic are the ones who live in the present

I like the idea of a potential return of Kaido and Big Mom. Although, I think only Big Mom will return as an enemy, while Kaido will go into hiding, simply to live out his drunkard days since his roll as an obstacle and herald to Joy Boy is no longer needed. He's been wanting to die, and now he sort of is.

Really cool to think about. In paradise, there was more guidance. Rayleigh came through with the exposition and the training. The power gap was spoken before it was shown. In the new world, not so much. The RHP didn’t _tell_ Kidd what the power gap was because there’s no longer time for that or room for error. You’re welcome to come and find out exactly what that power gap is
This might come a bit out of left field, but I find it remarkable, how well this quote out of Pulp Fiction fits Shanks and his actions in the show so far.
"Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers."
Especially now, after seeing Shanks' fleet, but already before that at marine ford or even when saving luffy initially, Shanks seems to be a protector and guide to those who are (yet) weak or can't fend for themselves and he doesn't do it for personal gain (at least as far as we can see). The lost children part fits onto Luffy and who knows what else Shanks has been up to, maybe well get something that makes this part more fitting.
We saw when he one shot kid and the seriousness with which he intervened in Wano and Marine Ford the vengeance he is able and ready to dish out if someone threatens the people Shanks is sheparding.
The big question here seems to be, what exactly Shanks' "blessing" consists of.
We know Oda likes detective movies, maybe hes into the crime genre as well.

Bit late to this party but I would also like to point out that first time when mihawk went to see shanks he was on a barren island where no one else lived so that if fight broke out no one would get hurt and second time when ace was visiting shanks he was on snowy mountain clearly to give ace disadvantage if he was there to challenge. All these times people were thinking this was just random occurrence but it’s all finally coming together.I just realised it after watching this video so keep up the good content and thank you.

Wiyh Shanks being able to sever people's connection to their haki by disrupting their emotions, Mihawk being so numb to the world and emotionless makes him challenging Shanks all the more telling for Mihawks character and him wanting excitement

@Amine Taganza It might be the case that Mihawk was already the WSS back then, or he might've been just absurdly strong for most other swordsman to challenge him
Greenbull is by no means weak or falls just beneath the bar of powerful characters in one piece. The haki feat that occurred towards the end of wano wasn't meant to show that greenbull isn't that powerful it was meant to show how strong Shanks is. Doflamingo clearly stated that fujitora and greenbull were "powerhouses" that drafted into the marines and doflamingo doesn't acknowledge strength very easily also (even though they were experiencing the aftereffects of their respective battles) greenbull easily subdued king and queen as well as showcased just how strong and extremely skilled he is in terms of using his devil fruit. We haven't seen greenbulls haki in full swing but I strongly believe his haki will be AT LEAST on the level of katakuri but most likely it'll be a level or two above that.

Shanks vs Blackbeard: Shanks doesn’t understand anything about Blackbeard’s motives or interactions, making his observations of Blackbeard useless almost. Even worse, the more he assumes anything about someone he doesn’t know, the more he actively puts himself at a disadvantage.
Shanks and Luffy: Luffy ate a fruit that is mythical and legendary, understanding Luffy is a chosen one of sorts. He understands Luffy’s sense of adventure and hype for pirates, and then seen his whole future 0.o

I bet Shanks met Kaido's whole crew by himself to stop him from going to Marinford. Basically like he pulled up on Whitebeard. Meanwhile, his crew was on the way to the main event. He probably went and bitched Kaido out, then made it back to his crew before they even showed up to stop the war.
You know what,I would love it if Oda made the antagonists, Luffy have to face like this. Luffy vs Blackbeard, Luffy & Zoro Vs Shank & Mihawk and Lastly Luffy Vs Imu. Luffy beating Blackbeard eventually would make Luffy and his crew be recognised as the most dangerous , powerful and the most influential pirates in OP world. That would be the best time we would meet Shanks and Mihawk for their promises with Luffy and Zoro. Mugiwara Pirates,Red Hair Pirates and Cross Guild fighting in Davy Back Fight,fighting for who will be the strongest of them All and the final title as The King Of Pirates. Your theory makes me eager to see how Oda will play this final saga and go out with a bang😆.
I actually really like & can definitely get behind the idea of Blackbeard having something that confuses observation Haki and what not. Him having 3 possible future outcomes would genuinely make a lot of sense and be a really cool & unique concept & ability that’s only unique for him. I can definitely see that.

I’ve been saying mihawk has the power to show futures using conquerors infused with observations like a year ago! I’m so glad that other people are starting to see it too. Mihawk at marineford “almost cutting” luffy’s arms off seemed way more than just luffy thinking about it.
Cool. But i feel like that ability is not doing any favor or strength to mihawk. Like showing futures sights to your opponent 😅 gives them advantage. Same with luffy if he didn’t see that coming he will probably lose his hands.

I think Shanks is using ryou with his observation while its coated with conquerors to literally inject his future into his opponents, or for communication by showing the future that Shanks sees. Kaido applied conquerors to his arament wouldn't be surprised if shanks could do the same with observation. *edit* this would kill the use of observation from others unless they can also apply conquerors to there observation so what shanks sees wouldnt overshadow there own haki.

yeah I dont think it's the whole future. itd be more like what you're saying. like when you see someone and "see greatness" but more literally. but at the same time, we have seen how future sight has been used to PREVENT a near future. and it seems alot of times people run from futures, so while you can see a future, idk if its guaranteed exemplified by bonney power and also oda drawing good/bad timeline of characters
