Shock tuning on an off road vehicle can make a night vs day difference when it comes to suspension performance! Trying to get our Ultra4 car dialed in for King of the Hammers gave us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate this, with the help from a good friend!
Hope you all enjoy the video! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I have to admit I was wrong. I initially thought this was a bad idea and a possibly a distraction to the channel but this is the content I look forward to the most now. What makes these videos work is your enthusiasm and excitement for this project which gets the rest of us excited. Keep it coming!
I’m enjoying seeing all the behind the scenes of getting that thing ready to race.
That’s our goal with the videos is to show everyone how much time, energy and dedication that goes into just this one race. It’s crazy. We had no idea it would be this involved
Loving this ultra 4 content
Thanks, we love making it and driving it. It’s insane
Absolutely
I have learned alot from watching these videos for the last few years.
So excited to see Child's Play get more dialed in every time! As a racer myself I know from experience how important it is to keep the tires on the ground. Keep the shiny side up 🏁👊😎🤙
Phil is the man, I learned who he is years ago, guy can do magic.
Living life your way! Hell yeah!
What an epic adventure you both are on. Glad you can share with us!
It’s so insane thanks for coming along
You can just see the difference on the video on how well that suspension is keeping those wheels planted on the ground where you need them !
Brilliant work 👍
Phil Licciardi is the man
I can't wait for Kevin racing at King of H.With his experience drifting and crawling his numbers are gonna be with the PRO'S.Thxx guys great video
I sure hope so buddy
If they finish I will be impressed
Can't wait to see you race!!! Have fun you two!!
Finally "Child Support" is looking much more like "Child's Play" !! So glad to see Kevin can finally be the lead foot we've all come to know ;)
Thanks for the inspiration you give not only for offroading, but to go and live your life to the fullest everyday!! Shout out to Bilstein.... just installed their 5100 shocks on my 03 gmc dually ... OMG never thought that a shock would make a big difference in the ride but WOW!!! go and get some Bilsteins!!!!
I also drive a Bomber, 4831. Had Phil shock tune us at KOH. Went from wild and dangerous to smooth and eating everything. Nice to see he helped you guys out too!
Wow...child's play is coming along nicely...gonna be ready for KOH....awesome driving Kevin.....your gonna kill it....Brittany as always...great camera work...Jelly was chilllaxing in the sun 🌞 🐶....egarly awaiting your next video....Safe travels
Y’all are making me want to forget about the project Jeeps I plan on having and just make an ultra 4 style car instead.
It’s so insane they just do everything so damn well but jeeps have comforts and heat and ac and everything that makes it enjoyable but for pure fun this can’t be beat
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 One of these days someone is going to build a "pre-runner" buggy. 99% of the capability but with doors, AC, and heat.
Wow, that's so cool. Can't wait to see how you will do out on the course. good luck and love to all.
you guys are so fearless
So someone went out on Halloween then was up all night editing a video? That is dedication. thank you
Brittany is super duper dedicated
and we are happy about that
Good morning jelly , you loving the sunshine in your face !!!!!
The truck is rock steady now! Can you show us a basic process on how to tune an pick the right shocks?
Keep going as the both of you are heading in the right direction. The Videos that the both of you put out have great content. I'm 64 years old and have Jeeps for over 44 years and these Videos keep me interested and look forward to them. Thanks to the both of you.
I love you guys ! I wish you all the success in the world good people like you deserve it!!
Man am I excited for you guys that's awesome good luck at king of the hammers
That Ultra4 car is such a beast... It's worth it just to see the excitement on everyone's faces... JELLY!
So many great videos lately so much to catch up with
Your tow rig is pretty badass, should do an episode on the hauler setup!
Congrats for getting your rig sorted out. Looking good!
Thanks. It’s so good now
Just be careful out there Kevin. Happy trails to you both!
Why wasn't it built right In the first place? Bumped and strapped should be the first thing in mind when building an offroad race vehicle.
Well, keep doing it! Love the content.
Awesome content guys. Excited to see this play out for you both.
it's awesome seeing the change in it and seeing the body staying flat and level while the suspension does the work.
We love watching the wrench time.
Wow! That body just floats almost level now! Amazing all the tech that you are learning, and thanks for showing us! Brit, you are the charmer with the products! Kevin, your speechless grins are just too much fun! Can't wait for KOH - dirt, drifts, rocks and speed! More push ups and squats - both of you! So much TeamWork! And Jelly bites too. LiteBriteNationJumpsTheShocks!
The difference is amazing!
That ultra4 car is sick. Cant wait to see you guys win the king of hammers next year.
Excellent video! You two make the technical stuff so easy to understand, I had no idea you were both teachers like me. Keep up the good work and keep the painted side up.
#JellyNation
That was a fun video to watch! Kevin can drive like an animal!!! I will support the companies that help you guys as much as I can. Much love from Louisiana
Jump looked smooth
I really love the sound of that Ultra! And I love the metallurgical science behind the build...great video!! Oh, I love Jelly too!!
Jelly getting her sun bathing done lol
Cutie!
In motocross, they aim for the top of each whoop. If you hit them fast, dropping the front into a deep hole is where it gets messy. Your buggy is flying!! Bottoming out is what really makes your rear kick up so making sure that doesn't happen is key. Now your shocks seem good and the bumpstops are in the right place. Give em hell!!
So sick! I have always wanted one of the ultra4 trucks.
If its 4 wheels and goes off road I love it. Enjoying this content as much as the jeep stuff although I do miss seeing the step child playing. Sadly I recently sold my 2018 Wrangler JL. Well I didn't really sell it so much as trade it in. Dealer offered me super trade in that paid it off and gave me back what I originally put down on it on top of the payoff, so I couldn't refuse parting with my Jeep. Then I bought a black 2021 Gladiator! They were selling them at pretty good discounts since sales on them are slow and covid has really hurt the car sales for the year. Upgraded trim, and I can now tow. The only problem is my wife wants to drive it all the time. LoL
Liberty mountain fab is one hell of a shock tuner, what a difference!
You all got this covered. Reminds me of my dirt bike racing days tuning the suspension. Jelly looked really impressed. 😁
Sweeet! Super Excited You Both!
How do you guys keep sharp on so many different disciplines? just amazing
Another great video!
I'm cheap, I drilled out my yokes and put in u-bolts for the drive shafts. The car looks great. Can't wait to see it at the Hammers.
Great video thank you!
It's because you two are so amazing, fun, entertaining & charitable, others love to help you. Child Play looking so awesome. I know y'all perform great, during King of the Hammer. Take care.
Incredible!!!
wishing you the best at King of Hammers I know you can do a good job
This is so cool!
Phil is so bad ass 🤟🇺🇸🇺🇸
Excellent job! If you compare the video footage from when you first had the shocks installed you can clearly see the difference, especially in the rear and how it handles the whoops and jumps.
Looking good Kevin nice driving bud!!
I'm so excited to hear that you guys are doing koh!! Thats my home town. I really hope to meat you guys in hammer town.
Good progress, and quick progress. so some words of advice, loose whoops tuning is the easiest to get working. After hours of heat cycling the shocks work completely different, tuning for heat between coilovers and bypasses is difficult, also good for gouts is usually too much spring for whoops so have to make compromises based on driving style. But you guys are learning quick. 👍🏿
Congratulations!! Can’t wait to see you guys run in KOTHs!!!
Awesome
I rode with a good friend of yours yesterday who SCUBA certified with you, Kelly! Good luck at KOH!!
Tell him we said hello! Such a great guy!!
@@LiteBrite yes he is. Very knowledgeable and patient with new Jeep drivers!!
When going super fast gets dangerous? What a novel concept for a Ultra 4. Great job driving Kevin and hope y'all do well come KOH time I'll be rooting for you. L'il Jelly is a trip, ROCK ON!
Jelly says no blood no foul, toughen up Momma.
Loving this ultra 4 car stuff. I like that they have multi layers to the videos such as jeep and the 4 wheeling and rock crawling, drift cards and drifting, baby grom now (haha), side by side (although hasn't seen much of it) and the ultra 4 car. So you get a little of everything instead of just 1 particular thing. I'll just keep saying it when ultra 4 car is in the videos...HOLY SHIT!
Cars not cards...ugh lol
Thank you for the love and support! It means a lot and we’re grateful to be able to work hard and chase our dreams.
I say the same thing...that horsepower sounds fantastic
Drift Jesus and now Shock Jesus???? That's Excellent. I see in that first jump sequence Pinion, juniper, and cheat grass. You are in my neck of the woods! I need to keep up with you guys! You were in/near Carson CIty???? I woulda come down from Reno and bought you guys breakfast. Heck you could have shacked up with us for your stay.
actually you were in Gardnerville, which is about an hour from Reno.
Mad driving skills, hope I can make it to watch you guys at KOH
Welcome to Nevada, guys. Hope you stop in more often :)
Ya know, all the other stuff was cool, but the bit with Jelly at the end was my favorite.
Looks really dialed in!
I can't wait until next KOH!!!♥️♥️💯🤙
Good morning 🙏 🌄 ☺
Good luck racing!
Awesome lite bright nation
Hey lite brite nation when are you coming back to Tennessee
I love you guys.
Good choice on the u-bolt yokes. I have a 2006 Jeep LJ and all the yokes are u-bolt. I've seen too mant "strap type" fail.
Glad to hear about Drift week looking forward to seeing Supra, Corvette stuff coming up
Starts in 3 days!
the Ultra4 is one bad ass machine now it look 100% better then when i saw it last time go get them guys
Good morning everyone !!!!
Awesome Ultra 4 Content! You should consider getting yourself an Axial Bomber 1/10 as a mini replica of your Ultra 4 rig!
Everybody on your tube gets outros..
Lite Brite Nation gets Jelly Shots!
Yup we blessed
So I noticed Axial is one of your sponsors, you should get a RR10 dressed up like Child's Play and a SCX10 or SCX24 dressed up like the Step Child. Maybe even a CSX10 Jeep JT for the winner of the of the Foster Child.
So does this mean we’ll be seeing a Lite Brite bomber from Axial soon? 😁
My thoughts exactly
Britt needs more seat time. She needs to be just as dialed in as Kevin to be an effective copilot.
Chromoly doesn't crack unless you're not welding it right or unless your stuff is undersized... I'm guessing in your cars case it's because it's not welded right... Anything over about 1/8 to 1/4 inch requires preheat or it'll crack. It should never be quenched (even with the oil already in the axle) and you should be using appropriate filters... If the joint stress isn't too high and the application is thin walled you can get away with Er70 wire, but in high stress and thicker applications you should be using ER80SD2 wire.
Some people use 309 or other stainless wires... Stainless wire with chromoly will cause diffusion issues which will definitely result in cracks... If stainless wire has been used you'll probably have to junk the part because of the chrome diffusion into the parent metal...
He is the shock Jesus for a reason. Glad you were able to hook up with him.
BUTTERY SMOOTH
OMG ……..I just p/u my WJ out of the shop, long story, but I have a bunch of issues with it and the shop that did the work. I just had Fox 2.0 coil overs with res’s and Fox nitro bump stops installed. The set up, well…….ITS NOT TUNED properly !! I’m out of Jersey, probably one of the least off-roading states in the country. I did not grow up here, I know I need some one more experienced than me to tune them. I’ve yet to take her out and rough her up! I’m kinda clueless as to who can do it properly around here.
This comment is sorta me thinking out loud as to how much I’m screwed ! She weighs 5,800 lbs w/fuel. Myself and overlanding gear missing from the weight. My WJ is equipped with an ATLAS on 37’s, so she can do rocks plus a variety of things pretty well……..she’s a BEAST! So I figure I’ll have an additional 600-700lbs of gear, then me. UGH….. This gonna be task!
What a difference a little Phil magic makes. Child’s Play front end looks way more composed. Hammertown here we come!
Welding chrome-molly steel alloys requires pre-heating the steel before you weld (preferably with the same or similar alloy filler rod) and annealing afterwards. Otherwise the weld is likely to be brittle and break easily.
Are you going to be doing regular trails again or is this now a million dollar race car channel now hahahaha. By ZERO mean and I knocking it, I LOVE your effort to entertain and 100% a fan and admire you two, but I can not relate to this like I did to your trail videos, you understand. You two are livin the dream. BEST wishes and luck in your new venture into adventure. Maybe I can make it out to JV to support yall someday. #LiteBriteKOHThemeCamp
We’re just taking everyone along for the journey here my man. Our Jeep is undergoing a nice transformation and we have very little time to get the U4 car and ourselves ready for the big race. This is about our journey and our fans helping support this crazy stuff. We’d love to see you out there to support us and hope you keep watching and enjoying the content.
@@LiteBrite Nothing but love and respect to you two. #FOREVERFAN
It happens to all channels. They start chasing bigger projects because they think it will generate more views and make more money. The reality is, the further you get away from what the average joe can do the less interested they become.
We definitely didn’t buy the Ultra4 car for more views. Lol We bought it because it’s been a dream of Kevin’s for quite some time to own/race one. And we’re all about following our dreams.
So was the previous owner having those same issues? Or did y’all just run into those issues when y’all changed to the new shocks ?
Not sure. We never tested the old shocks. The new shocks are the same body length and dimensions so maybe? As far as hitting the cage no. The other shocks had the tubes in a different location. Remember these shocks are just off the shelf that anyone can buy and not specifically made for this vehicle.
Looks like your testing in the pine nuts area...just east of 395 ?
Back in the day before the shoulder surgeries, knee surgery, and spinal fusion I used to race motorcross, and desert race. Spending time on suspension pays dividends in performance and vehicle longevity. I would see people dump thousands of dollars into their suspension and never tune it. They would simply bolt it on and assume it was what was needed to win.
So crazy right. We’re hoping people see the importance of it
Love the channel Kevin you might need to learn how to weld on that thing
It's a mean machine now! And I think Kevin can handle this!!
That Ultra 4 car reminds me of the VW Dune buggies that I grew up with back in California, But Yours is Way Better, wish we Had 1 of those when I was a Kid!🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I’m also digging on the ultra 4 content. Still really love the rock crawling tho
Looks like the better set up not only keeps you more stable but the physical demand on you has decreased. Hopefully taking the fatigue issue you experienced. Great content that does carry over to the jeep off road builder.
