      Thank you! This was not a style that I thought I could wear, and I was happy that I was able to come up with modifications to make it work for me. I have never chosen orange to wear, but I sure do like it now but I was “forced” to wear it 😂

      Hello! Thank you for the sweet comment, I do feel pretty enthusiastic about sewing 😍😂❤️. The sleeves are fabulous, aren’t they? The style is not something I would’ve chosen, and I’m happy this was the pattern that was picked, as it pushed me out of my comfort zone. And I am enjoying my new dress.

    Love yours. Just finishing an orange one too! As I was finishing the slip stitching, I thought why didn’t I stitch in the ditch! ...and now you’ve confirmed it! I’m tall so just lengthened all of the pieces and the wrap over isn’t low on me. Never worn orange either. Orange must be the new black 🙂
    And thank you for the sleeve width tutorial.

I'm going to see them on a show next month and I really want to say thank you to them for giving me the confidence to apply for my dream job. Working for the company who makes the costumes for strictly come dancing and dancing on Ice in the UK. Giovanni Pernice and his partner on last year's show eon strictly come dancing. His dance partner was Rose Alling Ellis she was born totally deaf she's absolutely amazing. Enjoy sewing.

    • @SharonSews
      @SharonSews  Před 3 lety

      Do what I did! Instead of doing the crossover bodice, just add a seam in the center front. That was the only way I’d be able to wear this. I hope you get your fitting issues figured out and love your dress too!

    Now I have seen all 3 of these videos. I like what you did to the sleeves. I also like the sleeves on the black blouse you are wearing at the beginning. Nice job. IMO, 7969 looks best on smaller busted women. The way to drops straight down from a fuller bust makes the whole body look bigger and less shapely. JMO. You made it work for you with some great styling.

    • @SharonSews
      @SharonSews  Před 3 lety

      I am happy you had a chance to watch all three videos! And I do agree with you, I think this style does work better on a smaller bust. Which is why I never would’ve chosen this dress pattern for myself if we had not decided on the collaboration. However, I think I made it work for me, and I am happy with the result. It is a very comfortable dress. I am also happy that you left your opinion!
      And thank you on the compliment on the black top, that is a Vogue pattern that I sewed about a year ago. The sleeve fabric had been a remnant I had found at SR Harris.

    Lovely dress!! I Enjoyed your review, I'm a new subscriber from Jens Sewing Room. Perhaps this dress will change your mind to wearing more dresses. Like you, I never really wore them, but when you're the designer, you can make them casual or dressy to your liking. ...And....in the summertime they can be very much cooler than wearing tops and capris.

      Welcome Lena! I am truly delighted that you are here! Isn’t Jen fabulous… I feel so fortunate to have “met“ her through CZcams. I am really looking forward to having a chance to meet her IRL soon.
      I wore dresses years ago, when I was in the corporate world (back when we had to wear pantyhose with dresses, ugh) And really got away from wearing them. But you are correct! I will probably wear them more often in the summer, and it will be much more comfortable in the Texas heat. Thank you again for subscribing and leaving a comment!

    Hi Sharon, thanks for this great review. I love the dress on you. I have this pattern, and have been humming and hah-ing about whether or not to make it. Lots of people saying it gapes at the crossover. I love the centre front seam idea. ❤
    I'm definitely going to make it now!
    Can you clarify please, where did you place your 2nd bust dart? Although I think I'd only need the original dart on the pattern, just interested to know.

    Love the idea of redrafting and making the front bodice one piece. When you do so, how do you do the neck facing? If you used the same piece, how did you compensate for the v-neck. thanks

    Of the 3 of you, you are the only one that loves this dress. It looks great and yes it is those sleeves that are amazing. I checked out all the hype on Instagram and there are some amazing ones. I think that having a drapey fabric is key. I also saw someone put elastic in the waist and would try that if I made this. I will get this pattern if I can snag one in a future Joann fabrics sale.

      Hi Ami! , That is true. I was surprised to hear that the other two did not like it, as I thought it would look fabulous on both of them. I agree, there are some amazing versions out there! And drapey fabric is key. I must’ve missed the one that put elastic at
      the waist, that’s a good idea too. I have worn this a few times already, and it is comfy, and I feel so trendy when I wear it😂

      @SharonSews  Před 2 lety

      Hi! I'm going to create a video showing how I changed the bodice as I get the question often. Just give me a little bit of time as I have to find where I put my pattern! 😬
      Yes there is a small bust adjustment! I've never done that adjustment, but it's just opposite of the full bust adjustment - instead of spreading the dart open the extra amount needed you would overlap the excess. I'll see if I can find a good video for you that explains it better than that 😀
