Tragic to see Brian go down hill like he did. 😢
The shaking and hobbling around from the heart attacks and drinking, destroyed him.
He was a brilliant front man, talented and had it all.
Not knowing his parents set him on a downward spiral. The poor guy was lost. 😞
May he rest in peace. Something he didn’t have when he was alive.
Thank you for the great music 🎵 and memories. ❤💕

Was a nurse at hillingdon hospital and on the morning I arrived for work when we had the days handover it was explained who ad arrived during the night I was the only member that morning who recognised his name and his music so I was assigned to care for him.....such a lovely humble person grateful for everything I did for him even though I kept explaining it was my job and i was happy to do everything and anything to help him its sad when people find success end up lonely

I was born in 1963 and remember The Sweet well playing on Top of the Pops. What a band, they were magnificent and with Brian Connolly out front he was the ultimate showman. Good looks, coupled with a great singing voice and that beautiful long blonde hair. God rest his blessed soul along with Mick and Steve, their music will live on for an eternity. Can't forget about Andy either, it must be hard for him to be the last surviving member. Long live the music of The Sweet. Such an underated band at the height of their success.

One of my main regrets in life is I never got to see Sweet play live, Brian Connolly was my idol I had posters of him and the rest of the boys all over my bedroom wall, it is soooo sad how Brian was at the end I have cried buckets watching this it is so upsetting, I only hope he has found peace where ever he is now. I have got tickets to go see Andy's sweet play in December so at least I can see one of those beautiful boys before it is too late. RIP Brian Mick and Steve I miss you sooo much.

I met him once at the Marquee Club in February of 1986. He was such a softly spoken and gentle bloke. I was young, and severely hammered at the moment, and he almost felt sorry on my behalf. A few drinks, lots of conversation, always polite and appreciative of the fellow muso's : not a prima dona which is rare in this business. He was a lovely chap and great company. This truly is heartbreaking and very hard to watch for me. To understand addiction one needs to understand childhood trauma. To quote Dr Gabor Maté (he worked for 12 years in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside): "Addiction is only a symptom, it's not the fundamental problem. The fundamental problem is trauma. Addiction connects back to trauma that people have experienced in their life."

@@martinawagner4464I think you're right. No matter how much his mother may have loved him, she made a decision to give him up. I'm sure she thought it was in his best interest. A mother's love is so essential that some people never get over being given up, even if their life would have been worse had they been with their birth mother. Brian couldn't reconcile that, and it ate him alive. Even tremendous success can't overcome some personal demons. Poor Brian left us way too soon. 💔😥 We'll always love him though. 💕

They say that youth is wasted on the young. I could’ve avoided so many pitfalls had I known then what I know now. I heard “Little Willy” on the radio when I was 8, and somehow knew immediately that this band was different. Fell into harder stuff as I got older but always appreciated these guys. They never really hit big here in the US, but were definitely a part of my youth. Sad to see Brian in such bad shape..RIP

I remember watching this documentary in 96 and talking about it with my mates in the pub as a teenager. We'd all watched it and could see the damage that lifestyle did, but we all went at the beer, cigarettes and drugs pretty hard. Wish I'd have taken more notice then and not wasted so much of my life inebriated, half way from there or too there.

Hi Allan I don't know how I missed this one, but it was a lovely tribute, I so remember the Sweet, had no idea of his history, but you know a lot of these young musicians are idolized and sometimes regardless of whether they had family history, are chased, screamed at by young women, suddenly they earn more money that they ever had, but often too much to cope with, many die too young. So sad.

The way I see it is....we all hit the rocking chair sooner or later...but it's what we do when we get there. Brian was blessed because he had the band, thay sang their way into pop history, virtually inventing heavy metal. Along the way they indulged in a manner appropriate to their youth and fame.....who would say no?
A life like that can't endure; it fades and morphs into something else. Thanks Brian and Sweet...I pre-ordered the 'Action' 45 rpm single and I still play it.
