    Frankly, IMO, only a depth finder should be allowed...if you consider yourself a professional angler, then fish with your knowledge.... Not where a computer tells you where the fish are located

      Absolutely!!! Fishing will never be considered a real sport bc there arent enough equipment limitations. The PGA, NASCAR and other 2nd tier pro sports in this country all limit technology to help the integrity of competition. Fishing is becoming a joke.

      @@BlobRob787 but that's the point of this video.... FFS is ruining the "sport" of fishing. IF you consider yourself to be a "professional" angler entering the tournament, than find the fish W/O sonar. Use your "professional" expertise to find the fish without electronics....do this, and I, for one, will agree that person is a "professional" bass angler

    I really don't get into the debate too much but FFS seems like video game fishing to me. Your boat just becomes a big game console. Its pretty boring to watch people stare at a video screen during tournaments. Unless you are fishing for actual food the magic of fishing is just being out there, learning structure and technique. If I can see the fish reacting to my lure in real time... just seems boring. Its like a cheat sheet for tests . I also worry about the increased pressure it is going to put on fish. But to each their own.

    FFS - I don't see limiting transducers, or units, or screen inches changing much at all, except for limiting boat rigging electronics costs. It may make a FFS angler slightly less efficient, only having maybe 1 unit, but fishing tactics won't change. I believe Drew Gill only had/has one FFS unit. Limiting the # of hours use, which days or tournaments it can be used is too convoluted. I say ban it completely, or let it rip.
    Prediction- BASS will limit the # of transducers, and units.

    On the team resource sharing aspect, one could look to extreme versions of this, for instance in the 'trading floor' situation in the past. It looked like one very extreme version of that thing of pooling of resources, except that some tried to remain 'independent' as they called it, and explain how difficult it was not to be overcome and controlled in that situation 'by a group'.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Před měsícem

      To some extent, sociologists who've studied it explain that human beings in groups were extremely effective enabling them to gather in large bands and go hunt after some very large game. In order to create surpluses of food and resources for a group of human beings, and that's never really left out instincts, our behavior.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Před měsícem

      That's the reason why I enjoy the extreme modern examples of the same, the Chicago trading floor examples of old being one. Frank Lardino in his episode twenty-five of Warrior Podcast, entitled from Comedy to Corruption. Was full of examples of just how badly wrong that the group organization thing can go, and what it meant then to try to maintain independence at all, from the influence of the groups you were surrounded by.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Před měsícem

      The traders had to invent all kinds of ways to communicate, so as not to indicate to others on the trading floor what their trading strategy had been (sometimes managing to conceal that, and at other times not). Jim Moynagh in his latest episode, a recap of a tournament said many of his best fishing places from practice were occupied by other anglers (and one had to be intelligent about the rotation he would use between his fishing places). Jim offered the example of throwing Neko soft plastic after other anglers as a means by which to try and catch fish 'behind' other anglers who had fished his places. Stuff like that.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Před měsícem

      What was interesting about Frank Lardino, was an explanation of how different groups on the trading floor joined together at certain times to become an unstoppable force (don't assume that it ends at a single group of individuals sharing resources, there can also be 'groups of groups' working together too). And that at other times these same groups who would collaborate on one thing, would compete on something else. Meaning that for Frank and his cohorts, they really had to be aware of all of that. Because groups and all kinds of weird alliances were the norm, not the exception (they explained how young traders getting into the business to begin with, were often down a significant amounted 'owed' to some mini cartel). And that in order to help the rookie traders to pay the entrance fees, that the same mini cartel who offered them the entrance opportunity for a fee, almost loaned the youngsters additional funds to pay the entrance fees (and a lot of those rookies never extracted themselves from that commitment they entered into). They never got free and clear, or guys who did, even got dragged back into these arrangements having been their own bosses for a time.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Před měsícem

      This is kind of what you're seeing in fishing, it started on the Opens circuit. And it is analogous to what happened when electronic trading strategies started to happen in the financial markets too. Just wait for the time when bass boat operators start wearing colored suspenders. And smoking cigars. It might not be far away. This is why regulation is required. The electronic tools just upset the natural order of things for certain.

No, I don’t have a FFS setup cause I feel like it takes away the unknown and real “fishing” but have fished with others that do. First, I get it! Why not use the technology we have to catch more fish and potential bring you that W!!! Second, watching the tournaments these days is really boring because our favorite guys just stare at a screen all day! Third, I think it takes a lot of the skill and fun out of fishing.
