    I was just reading yesterday that there is a British study about to be released that shows that dermal fillers permanently and irreversibly block lymphatic flow (the part of our immune system that removes waste and toxins). While this probably isn’t a huge deal to someone in their 60’s, it might be disastrous for people getting injected in their 20’s and 30’s. It’s the injectable material itself, not the skill of the practitioner that’s the issue, so no matter how competent the person is doing the injections, the damage is being done. Having decades of waste and toxins accumulating in your facial tissues (brain-adjacent) cannot be okay. Cancer? Neurological damage? Who knows? Considering the injectables industry rakes in about $5 Billion/year, don’t expect this study to make headlines. Can we just stop mutilating ourselves already? 😢

      Surely it would just encourage some to be even more nihilistic, with this understanding that they'll just die young instead of getting old and sick and miserable? They clearly had no intention of getting old to begin with, given all the deep psychological trauma the mere thought of it creates. Looking young is all that matters to them.

      Yesssssss. Apparently in these new studies shows it can cause cancer not only block lymphatic system. But don’t panic just yet - you don’t need to run to go dissolve. Just don’t inject again. Also, stay away from botox as it’s a toxin we don’t know the long term side effects.

    I DO struggle with ‘Body Dysmorphic Disorder’, and have all of my life. I’m 57 now though, and I have MS. I’m permanently disabled so there’s not much I can do to change certain things.
    I can’t even remember a time when I actually looked at my entire self in a mirror. I only see ‘parts’. I concentrate on my hair in relation to my face when I’m doing it, and when I’m applying makeup (it makes me feel better), I only pay attention to my face.
    I’m an artist, so I can coordinate colors very well, that helps when I’m putting together my clothes to wear outside of the house once per week, sometimes up to 3 times (if I have Dr’s Appointments).
    I also rely on my husband to tell me if I look okay or not. I don’t think that even he understands the depth of my dysmorphia.
    I am under a psychiatrist, and a therapist’s care, but mostly for other issues.
    This is a hard one to overcome, especially when it is SO ingrained for so many years, it is the reason I suffered from Anorexia in my late teens.
    I don’t ever remember a time where I was not feeling this way, I vividly remember it even in first grade.
    If only I could remember the root cause…but I can’t.
    Love you DEARLY, Jaime. 💖

What makes me pause is she said she looked ugly before which is why she is doing all these inhancements. I wish she first ( and maybe she did whoes to say) talked to a mental health professional about why she thought she was ugly. This seems like a form of body dysmorphic disorder maybe. Like I said before I'm all for looking the way that makes you feel most confident and attractive and embodies you best, but I also hope in this case she is doing it for the "right reasons" and not because of self hatred or self perceived distortions of her body that could maybe be with professional help resolved. On the "own worst critic" topic, there's a mental disorder called Body Dysmorphic Disorder, which is when a person obsesses over a perceived "flaw" (or more than one "flaw") to the point of avoiding looking at themselves in a mirror or avoiding going out in public or fantasizing about how their life would be better if the "flaw" was fixed. (The reason I keep putting flaw in quotes is that the dysmorphia part means that the person cannot perceive their own image clearly or as a whole person, because their mind focuses on what they see as "wrong".)
    Some people with BDD will seek out cosmetic surgery, which may give them temporary relief, but without also receiving mental health care, many will switch to another perceived flaw or will be dissatisfied with the results of the surgery once they get used to their appearance. (Not diagnosing Anastasia or anyone else, just want to share information. BDD responds well to cognitive behavioral therapy and to medication. Please seek outside help if you feel like this resonates)

    All surgery, even under anesthesia, will result in your nervous system having a trauma response; there's a natural cortisol release which will slowly atrophy your muscle tissue. Obviously the more invasive the surgery the more extreme that response will be. I'm wondering if that is the "hurting yourself" the comments are in reference too.
    There's also imaging that shows that fillers don't dissolve and can block lymph drainage. This can cause cancer.

    • @shelbyb9965
      @shelbyb9965 Před 3 měsíci +4

      Yes there are always inherent risks in having cosmetic procedures done, but having the fillers in and of itself isn't harmful. Injections are relatively low risk if done by a qualified professional (which is certainly debatable in this case). Hyaluronic acid, which is what modern fillers are made of, is already present in the body and it's simply absorbed after a certain amount of time- that timeline is a bit debated however.
      I think what people should be more concerned about is the mental state of somebody who does this to themselves. There's clearly something deeper going on with people who want to do this.

    • @AmysAttitude

I do agree however that there are deep rooted mental issues for everyone who feels the need to mutilate themselves. I also think there are mental issues surrounding people who always speak for everyone but themselves.

    By the grace of Xenu only one stung me but it was right on the lip and it swelled. When I complained to my dad later he told me to stop complaining bc "people pay thousands to look like that in Hollywood".

    I get it, consenting adults can do whatever they want to their bodies, just getting plastic surgery doesn’t make you a bad person, we all have insecurities, yada yada… but like at what point does this cross a line into mental illness? If someone has serious body dysmorphia or developed an addiction to this stuff, are they really able to give informed consent? They’re not able to judge their own bodies realistically or control their impulses, so they continue to chase the dragon at the expense of their own health and safety. Eventually we have to stop being too scared to critique this kind of stuff, because the only way to stop a self-destructive spiral is to learn healthier ways to accept yourself as you are. 😕

    • @mydogeatspuke

      Why does it have to be a mental illness because it's extreme? Sometimes people are just terrible.

    • @mydogeatspuke

      Also, chasing the dragon means smoking heroin. People really need to stop using that phrase out of context.

      @@mydogeatspukelol sorry if I offended any heroin enjoyers out there with my cultural appropriation, I guess. Besides, when you have multiple unnecessary surgeries it’s very possible to become an opioid addict yourself.
      Maybe some people who get bad plastic surgery aren’t mentally unwell, but just tacky with bad taste (not the same as being a “terrible person” though). Some alternative people love their extreme body mods too, and that isn’t necessarily a sign of mental illness if you’re going in with realistic expectations, do your research, and put your safety first.
      But when you have a compulsion to change yourself to the point of disfigurement and you can’t objectively evaluate risk vs. reward I would argue that it’s a sign of someone without a solid sense of identity and unhealthy dissociation from their bodies.

    • @mydogeatspuke
      @mydogeatspuke Před 3 měsíci

      @@noctua_caelum it has nothing to do with offending "heroin enjoyers?" Chasing the dragon is smoking heroin. That's what it means, just that, nothing else. Not enjoying heroin. Not being addicted to opioids. Not chasing the high of an aesthetically pleasing change to your appearance. Smoking heroin. When you say smoking heroin, but mean not smoking heroin, you look like an illiterate fool who just says whatever stupid thing pops into their head to try and look smart or interesting. You're only embarrassing yourself. Trying to contort yourself into somehow in hindsight still making sense, especially after being told you used it incorrectly, just makes you look like even more of an embarrassment. Learn to accept when you're wrong and get over it.

    • @mydogeatspuke

      @@noctua_caelum the only one offended here is you. Chasing the dragon is smoking heroin. Fact. Not enjoying heroin. Not being addicted to heroin. Not being addicted to opioids. Smoking heroin. You used it wrong, and now instead of just being mature and accepting that you can be wrong, you're upset about it. Grow up. I also never called anyone a terrible person. When you quote someone, they need to have actually said/typed the thing you quote. That's how quotes work. Clearly you're yet to finish primary school English and so just haven't learned these simple things yet.

    Isn’t it a sad state of affairs when Jamie has to constantly backtrack and say, “Eh, if it makes you happy, go ahead. You do you.” She can’t just call out a woman with obvious mental health issues out of fear of getting cancelled. It’s a sick world we live in where we have to tip-toe around subjects because we might get attacked by a fringe group of nutjobs who have the power to destroy your life and career. How did we ever let this happen? How did things get so bad?
