We’ve been cutting the 9th and 10th flights since 2002. During the season when they’re molting we don’t ever have to worry about the ninth and 10th because they already came in during training. Very cool video loving these

@@harryhoudini8626 you’ll be pleasantly surprised when your young birds are racing all seasons with all 10 flights it’s a huge advantage. Joe has it down and he’s on point .

We only race March and April hatches may hatches can make the race team if it from a special pair or a late pair. July the lights go on 24 hours and in August 18 hours. Joe is pretty awesome and he definitely knows this pigeon game, Mad Respect to the Eastern Assassin.

So why don’t you just darken the lofts from 5 pm to 9 am and they will keep a full wind right up till the end of September no pulling of flights

@@craig7555 in my experience I don’t like how the birds go into a heavy molt after September because we race into October

Here in Belgium we don't pay much attention on the 9th and 10 feathers but some are pulling the first and second feather at the end of February .It takes until half of August when they drop the third feater and a fweeks later the seazon is finished. But were you live it's a good thing ,it depends on when the seazon starts .

Do you have to cut the tail feathers also before pulling them

Looking for some advice. If I fly young birds natural and don't darken, lighten or pull flights and the race I'm aiming for is Sept. 15th what would be the ideal date that the bird should hatch so the last 3 flights have not moulted? Great information here. Thanks, thumbs up and a sub.
