My Dad grew up, some, in Martha, OK. That is until the Dust Bowls hit and Grandma and Grandpa lost their Farm in the Depression. My Dad would have been about 9 years old. Grapes of Wrath was their story, basically. They moved to Colorado and Grandpa built a beautiful little house and worked as a chef for the Railroad. The family sold the house in 1985. Now it's not there anymore, because the city widened the street it was on. We lived in it for 2 years in 1973 through 1975. How I miss those days.

The Grayhound Station has been restored and is the home to Main Street Blytheville. It's on the historic list, such a great job restoring it.
So many small towns in Arkansas and everywhere have changed so much over the years for one reason or the other. As many said I'm sure the Air Force base closing was a big reason sadly.
My small town's downtown pretty much died because the interstate went through in the 70's forcing traffic out of downtown. We are not that far from the interstate and have businesses out there, mostly travel centers/truck stops which at least bring in tax dollars.

At 12:99 that was a Greyhound bus station / depot. A VERY similar one is located in Minneapolis, now appearing as the First Avenue nightclub / concert venue where Prince made it famous as well as many others from the Minneapolis sound era of progressive punk, rock and roll and blues as well as other genres. The Greyhound station in Minneapolis was active in the 1920s-1930s to the 1960s.

Well, I live in Blytheville, AR. I'm in the country towards the Missouri line. FIRST OF ALL, it is pronounced "Bly-vil." It is also known as "Bly-vegas." One reason the town has dried up, is because there used to be an Air Force base close by. It was closed inthe late 80s or early 90s and the military presence went away. I grew up in Southeast, MO and Arkansas was the butt of a lot of jokes. Now that I live here... it still is. When I got my Arkansas ID, all my female cousins became a little more attractive. LOL! That's right Blytheville, AR. Where the men are men and the sheep are nervous. (jk) My wife is from Armorel, AR. A 'suburb' of Blytheville. If she sees this, she is going to kill me. Thanks for spending some time in our little fly-over town. You seriously need to go to the twon of Pascola in Missouri. It is so infamous, it is in the Urban Dictionary. This was a cool vid. Thanks Lamont.

Thee Arkansas being a butt of jokes thing is really funny, considering that it is coming from MIZZERY.[ MISSOURI] I WOULD ESPECIALLY SAY SO, SINCE YOU STOLE LAND FROM ARKANSAS.

You should do a video on Otto Warmbier, the American kid from Ohio who went on vacation to North Korea and was returned to the USA comatose on life-support. He was accused of "taking a political poster off the wall" and sentenced to years of hard labor...he never woke up and his family took him off life-support. True Crime Loser did an informative video on him years ago. RIP Otto Warmbier 🙏

Dang Lamont - I been watchin you forever - wish I knew you were here in my hometown. That car is an old AMC Rambler Ambassador---- you were brave walking around alone. Many murders have occured in this town.

My sister lived in Blytheville for years and when she divorced her no account husband she and the children move to another town, she said it was not because of the divorce but because the town was becoming a hot bed of drugs and drug dealers and she wanted her children in a safer environment. I know when we visited in the early 80s it was some what shady then.

The video was fine. I think of my dads hometown of Templeton Iowa wirh 300 people so the nearest town was Carole Iowa that was much larger or 30 miles away. I remember going around the neighborhood and seeing many ending houses. My dads house had a sheep farm across the street. I would hear baa baa all night.
