God created the ability to speak and use hand gestures for the Italians in one package. We can't separate them.
As an italian, I use this for two main reasons, the first is because I am used to it, the second is because using them both is easier to make the person who is receiving the message understand what I mean, and if the person didn't ear what you said he still can understand the message by the hand gesture

@@mo7ammad55 I don't know the exact statistics, but you may be right, as I am myself 3/4 of Italian ancestry, the other 1/4 being Spanish. Heck, even my surname is Italian. Another fun fact: because of our heritage, we even have some not that well-known Italian dishes as part of our traditional cuisine. Take Vitel Toné as an example -it's always cooked for Christmas and New Year's, even though it's not that popular in all of Italy itself.

I have moved back to my country 15 years ago and I still do it lol
I literally grew up there (Lido di Ostia, Roma), so all of their gestures and even expressions/sayings like "boh", "ma va va", "ma dai", "madonna mia/mamma mia", "ma guarda te", "ma vaffan cina", "ma dai ma che stai facendo", "mi hai rotto le scatole" and many more, I still say them when I'm speaking with my mum and my older sister 😆😂
I don't think I'll ever be able to stop doing the gestures and saying these expressions, considering I was 4 when my parents migrated to Italy, and was almost 15 when we moved back. I couldn't help but absorb all their culture lol
I don't think I can put into words the love that I feel for Italy and its beautiful people. I see my country as home, but I also consider Italy as my home.
I don't have any Italian blood, but at heart, I always did feel very Italian, since I spent my entire childhood there. 🇮🇹☺️💗

Did you know? There reason why italians use gestures unconsciously is because of the past, when there was not a main language used in the peninsula and Italy wasn't a unic country they used to speak many languages: in the north they spoke languages such as Veneto, Bolognese, piemontese, Ligure, in the south they spoke even more languages: Neapolitan, Sicilian, Sardinian, pugliese, salentino, Calabrian and many others. So in order to understand each other from other parts they used gestures to communicate with the entire peninsula. We still use it till today because we learned It from our parents (just as Italian). Unfortunately we are forgetting both gestures language and the local language/dialect, especially in the north. :(

Not using that hand gesture it is almost a mission impossible. Btw, Italian hand gestures are not random, they have meanings. This one means: What? - what are you doing? - w t f are you saying/doing?
