This guy landed awesome role, imagine that:
* Only 1 line containing 1 word "Yes".
* Probably spent like half day filming.
* Last but not least, the best of all, kiss Tricia Helfer!
I bet this scene took days to get right.
Weeks
That's even more awesome, that means he got kissed by Tricia Helfer over and over!
@@yamamancha Maybe on purpose ... I would have done it "wrong" just for do it again, and again, and again ...

The rewatch ability of this series is rare for ANY movie ,much less a miniseries. I've watched all 4 seasons at least 5 times and STILL see little details i missed.😎👍🏾
Can 4 seasons be considered a mini series? I’ve never watch this show but it comes highly recommended and I love the SFF genre so I’m gonna give it a watch.
@@rosssims7224 The show begins as a miniseries which sets the premise for the main series, and THEN there are four seasons following that. S01E01 will make no sense if you haven't watched the miniseries first.
The miniseries is my favorite part.
Same here. It's better every time!!! Only one other show is like that. Babylon 5....
@@rosssims7224 You won't regret it. But give it time. It starts out a little slow...
I love how this kind of spiritually treats the first 70s series as the first war they had
Iirc it can't be because in the original series, it takes place concurrently with the late 1960s-early 1970s Earth. They see the moon landing as it happened. In the reboot, humanity lands on OUR Earth, meaning it's before we even exist and can't be in the same timeline as the 70s show.
@@SneedsterSpeedster Not the exact history exactly. Just that it was aesthetically very similar. No Lasers, but the Centurions, Basestars, and Raiders looked about the same. Even the TOS Battlestar appeared as a model in the museum in the final episode of TRS (the basis for the existence of the Artemis class Battlestar in the Deadlock video game).
@@SneedsterSpeedster you are right. but its still a nice nod to the original series to do that.
First show that I ever binge watched. Many nights spent saying to myself... “just one more episode...”

So say we all
This is hands down, the best remake of any TV series of all time.
No
Then what is?
Whether the original was better isn't at issue. He said it was the best remake. Can you name a better remake than this?
Hmm, didn't care for that myself. But it's certainly a quality show and I can understand why people like it. And the original was miles worse than the original Galactica, so yeah, I could certainly see that as a valid choice even if I didn't agree. Good call!
@SHERMAN YOUNG lol WHAT THE FRACK?! Lost in space OG series was way better than the remake? Y'all need help (jkjkjk) so say we all
That’s the best opening to a show I’ve ever seen.
That show was so freaking incredible. I never would have believed that they could make such an incredible series based upon the originals. I loved the OG, but this was 10 times better.
@Mark Miwords You wouldn't have the Expanse if it weren't for this show.
Never saw the og not old enough but have seen the caprica spin off things
This show had so many advantages that the original didn't have. It had almost limitless resources, it didn't have to cater to broadcast television standards so they were able to give the story the darkness it needed, and more importantly, they didn't have to worry about George Lucas suing them into oblivion.
They did peter out towards the end, but more often than not, they were bringing their A-game. I don't think the next reboot will do as well. They'll certainly have their work cut out for them...
@@callmeishmael2415 "Caprica" was seriously mishandled. There was so much potential to the story, but they should have cut back on the social commentary angle a little. As horrible as what happened to the Twelve Colonies was, by the end of the series, I felt a lot less sympathy for them. Who knew Colonial society was so racist?
@@cubdukat The problem with almost every tv show and movie released past 2015 or so is that they are mostly social commentaries with everything else just being there to service the social commentary points. What makes it even more frustrating is that the commentary essentially takes the form of a superficial emotional appeal to the position the makers decided with zero amount of critical thought given to the subject matter.
I just remembered somethings else about Battlestar Galactica. It was the first TV science fiction series where I thought the special effects were every bit as good or even better than you might see in a full length movie of the time. It raised the special effects bar incredibly high. By the way, the story and characters were fantastic too.
The same could be said of the 1978 version. It basically had the same budget as the original Star Wars film (and even had the same art director or something to that effect), which is why it ended up cancelled after one season -- it was too expensive to keep going.
Except cgi will never be better than models.
@@lewstone5430 I disagree. CGI has more than enough detail, plus with computers it is possible to model effects like huge explosions more convincingly.
The Expanse was awesome!
@Mark Miwords I mean you can not enjoy the show but why come to a comment section and comment on alot of replies "it sucked, the expanse is better"
this show is amazing. they created something real special.
I think it won a Peabody. If I'm right the writer's strike messed it up,should have lasted 8 to 10 seasons. Best sifi drama I'll probably ever see. Such a high bar.
Still one of the most brilliant shows ever to be seen on TV. It never got old.
Too bad the show went off the rails in so many ways.

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
This is the one with the Klingons, right?

I really like how they include RCS thrusters in the series for Mobility. a minor detail most SciFi shows dont really include.
I liked a lot of things about this series compared to most science fiction, especially with its use of ballistic weaponry instead of cliched lasers and phasers and explosive flak barriers instead of energy shields.
This and Babylon 5 both have RCS and reverse thrusters to turn around (B5 Fury), which I so enjoy.
@@angulion B5! This was the 1st cgi tv series where the animation was quality art.

I can't imagine any other actors playing the parts they're playing.(scene stealers)Katee Sackhoff, Luciana Carro, Michael Hogan, James Callis are standouts.... but ..hell...the ENTIRE CAST is amazing.
It was a well made show. Check out "For all Mankind". Same guy. Another well cast and thought out show. It re-imagines the "space race" to the moon. This time the Russians win. They get there first. So the competition intensifies, all the way to moon bases, space combat, and Mars. Cool show....
Was never a fan of BG, but I gave the first episode a watch not expecting much... and it hooked me in to however many seasons there were. So many great performances, the way the battles were filmed, the tension. Just brilliant.

This scene aroused me and scared the shit out of me at the same time. Hell of a opener to a quality show.
Tracey Taggart, excellent description of a terrifying scene!
It was a brilliant way to get me to pay attention to a different take on a kind of campy series.
Mainly it scared me. No arousal. Pure fear for what would unfold in this superb show. Beautiful Tricia or not. She can play one seriously scary person. She has the skill to form a very scary look while smiling. She has unique control over her facial muscles.
Just like to point out that after watching this show 3 times i've just realised the boy in the picture is the same boy who gets rescued in Helo's and Boomers Raptor with Gaius Baltar 1:54.
Little details like this make Galactica worth coming back for its that good.
IT IS BOXY😱😱
OMG!! What good eyes you have! And yes, those details are what bring me back every few years to watch the entire series. I see something new each time.
It's Boxy. The child character from the original. He had the goofy robot dog. The guy that got blown up on the station was his father....
I love how the debris hits the "camera" at the end. Subtle details like that stand apart from other sci-fi.

@@rromero7849 Final moments of life making out with Six. Might be totally worth it. Ultimate bucket list item.
The impact of this is diluted now. At the time of release, the CGI was very good, and no one expected a Battlestar Galatica reboot to be the next big thing. Trisha was stunning. The twist totally unexpected. This scene sucked many people in, who no doubt had a passing interest in the show, when they turned on. For me, this was some of the last really intelligent sci-fi on TV. It harked back to the best of the past. From here we get the infantile dross of Star Wars and Marvel films and similar dumbed down preaching.

Destroyer of worlds
Methinks that was a different attractive blonde. Or was that line used in this series as well?
Six, EDI, Sarah Kerrigan...
I'll take Grace Park (#8, Sharon, Boomer, Athena) over Tricia every day of the week.
This scene is a perfect foreshadowing of how the Cylons worked in the early days of the war and pre-war era. With everyone expecting the Cylons to be completely unchanged after 40 years, the skin jobs could just walk right in, get any information they needed, and by the time the Cylons spring their full-on attack, it's already far too late to stop them.
Was it ever explained how nobody noticed all the identical clones ?
IRL, even without Facebook people notice identical twins. E.g. the identical twins that were swapped in Colombia with another set, they met each other after people started asking 'hey, do you have a twin brother'..
@@IvanTre Well, we're talking about Cylons spread across multiple planets, and there's no indication of any kind of real social media in this universe. So, if say there was only ever one clone on a single continent at any given time, odds are no one would even see two Cylons in their lifetime unless they spent a lot of time traveling between continents and worlds, and among billions of people, an identical stranger isn't so unlikely. Further, there's also the fact that no one knew organic Cylons even existed, so they wouldn't know to watch out for them.
They'd not be watching for cylons, they'd just notice the doppelgangers.
Had Cylons used plastic surgery so infiltrators all looked different, that'd be no risk..
@@IvanTre Again, we're talking about multiple planets with popultations possibly in the billions, with no guarantee that there would ever be two of the same clone model on a single planet. Maybe if the Cylons had been infiltrating for centuries there might be a chance of someone coming across two clones of the same line within their lifetime. But within a brief span of 40 years, and the Cylons taking steps specifically to avoid the very scenario you're describing? No chance.
Also they change haircut and wtf.
Now that's an entrance!
Love you Number 6!❤
"They have a plan"
Narrator: They didn't have a plan.
Until we found out they didn't have a plan, it sure was creepy.
...nobody ever said it was a 'good plan'....
That part was put together by the Trump Administration.
@@johnmiller567 Not an American...but the rest of the world sees how out of touch Democrats are....and we wonder why much of your Big Media supports Democrats + tries to convince viewers that Trump is always wrong. Heh, whatever Trump says, Democrats do the opposite...regardless if Trump was right or wrong!
For example =Trump's plans vs Coronavirus (and the Democrats plans)
Trump = shut down travel to/from China (good idea).
Joe Biden = 'let's keep the borders open and not change anything'.
Bill de Blasio = 'I encourage people to go out in crowds' plan?
Pelosi = visits Chinatown to encourage tourism 3 weeks after Trump's travel ban.
Democrat plans would have resulted in more deaths.....but you'll never hear CNN/MSNBC point that out...you'll also never hear those 'news agencies' look into Biden's past sexual creepiness (even though there are plenty of videos showing him being creepy).
Somehow your mainstream media is making Trump look more responsible for Coronavirus than China....which is insane! In fact, CNN ran a propaganda piece (how the Chinese navy is more competent than the US Navy in dealing with the virus)......basically, CNN said 'China is doing awesome, according to China' = ?!?!

These guys didn't mess around. If you're going to remake a show, this is how it should be done. It's dark, clever, complex, and also has some of the best action sequences I've ever seen in science fiction.
While it's not without its flaws, it's hands-down my favourite science fiction show. I love the way the characters are gritty and down to Earth. They all have their flaws and demons, which makes them that more realistic.
Why does it have to be dark?
@@huskyfaninmass1042 Good point. It doesn’t have to be dark just for the sake of being dark, but it’s realistic, and reality can be dark at times. Don’t forget that what happened to the colonies was complete devastation and the loss of millions, so darkness will follow.

I've watched this scene 100 times over the years and it still makes me want to get out of my chair. The masterful use of music with the Cylon leitmotif. The slow burn. The implication that Cylons know very well that men are weak if a beautiful woman approaches them and therefore know all of our weaknesses. Our human weaknesses. Meanwhile we haven't seen them for over 40 years. They've evolved in ways we can't comprehend. Death means nothing to them. I can't believe how good BSG's writing was.
I always wanted to see it from a different perspective...Data is there instead of a human, with a cloaked, highly armed Klingon bird of prey close by. Data is exploring the station as an unknown artifact when the Klingons warn him of the approach of the basestar and a shuttle. He scans the Centurions and Six with his tricorder as she approaches. Six doesn't recognize Data, and asks if he's human. "No. I am an android. I am Commander Data, of the United Federation of Planets."
This causes instant confusion amongst the Cylons. They decide to destroy the intruder. She leans in to kiss him...the basestar fires its missiles...the Klingons beam Data back a second before the station is destroyed. The Klingons leave via the same anomaly that brought them back in time 150,000 years, and the loss of telemetry from the station warns the Colonies.

A small detail, but I really like that cylon-esque sound that plays whenever the text appears. It'd be funny if she started talking like the 1970s cylon centurion (70CC). Or Baltars cylon detector just turns off the vocoder and iris, making all the humanoid models talk 70CC and have an oscillating red beam in their eyes. "I AM NOT AAAA CYYYLON."
shivers along my spine......
wow this is the first time I ever seen or heard of this. I'll have to make a point of finding the rest. Thanks for sharing
@Ken D thanks for your input and the reminder. I got busy and forgot all about this.
seriously? you are in for one hell of a treat. I would love to be able to binge it for the first time again
Still one of the best sci-fi shows out there
The best beginning to a series ever!
Oh how Star Trek: Discovery wishes it were this exciting.
Star Trek Discovery was doomed from the beginning with its bullshit "political correctness" themes.
@DEEPFOXJUDE this series would have Betten so much better hat it not been for the idiot scientist guy, what am annoying character and side plot
When entertainers get too political or politically correct, it’s product is doomed from the start.
@@northerntruthseeker PC isn't the problem with Discovery. BSG was full of PC themes mate; as was Star Trek (all of them), Stargate, Babylon 5 and most other successful sci fi shows. Sci fi has always dealt with social standings, constructs, equality, freedom, politics, etc. It's just that there wasn't an uproar against these things back then :). There is now, of course. And so today, all that is required for a show to fail or garner hate, is for one person to comment: "this is just SWJ bs, give the fans what they want" and that's it - one comment will influence and spawn 10 others, those turn into thousands, those thousands demand and give room to videos that critique a show for pandering to specific people. And once that happens, there's no more room for analysis or any sort of semblance of discussion. It's just two sides jumping at each-other, unable to convince one another because they each already made up their minds. Cool stuff.
But yeah, there's always been politics in Sci-fi, it's just that the shows that share your view/s you let it slide or even praise them, while those that are contrary to your beliefs you critique. Don't kid yourself into thinking a sci-fi show you truly like doesn't have political connotations - because it does, they're just in lieu with your views, and so you give it a pass.
Hearing people rag on MUH POLITICS in science fiction (especially on Trek and BSG) is about the dumbest, laziest take possible. Smh
Its such a mixed bag of feels.
There was a lot they attempted with this series. Most of it hit the mark, some of it didn't, but that's only natural for any show. What really carried it for me were the performances of the actors and the production design. Nail those aspects and you have a solid show.
