One of my favorite relatively recent series. We're going on a road trip soon, and I might run it for my wife and son while we drive. It's been a long time since I ran through a series so soon after I first read it, but I think this one is worth it.

@@FantasyInk Listened to the first two books on the trip. When we got back, my son finished the series ... then went through the entire series again. Twice. Plus Corpies and the two Villains books.
Now he wants to run an RPG set in that world.
      8-)

Hey mate. New sub here. I've loved this series for years and I'm glad to see it getting more of the attention it deserves. Another series I can't stop recommending Is "The DIRE saga" by Andrew seiple narrated by Any Mcfadden. It's easily a top 10 series for me maybe even top 5

I am so happy you gave the series a try and even more that you enjoyed it! Considering the time investment of the series, it would be horrible to start the books and not have a blast.
Your sign mentioned Corpies. It is another book with a meh cover but a satisfying story.
In case you haven't looked deeper into it, you might give it a try when you feel like returning to the SP world. It follows Titan and plays between the third and fourth book (not completely, but the most sensible place where one would read it organically).
It deals with one big problem that authors can have with overpowered characters: How do you make a chracter that is virtually indestructable and potentially one of the strongest in the world both relatable and how do you work obstacles into the story that are not overcome easily or ridiculous.
I loved the book for giving us a better look into the world, showing us people with super powers, who are not on the path to become heroes for one reason or another. It is luckily shorter than the other books if you ever feel like squeezing it into your TBR :)

Hey there Namorat! I hope you have been doing well. Funny you should mention Corpies, I actually picked that one up right after I finished Hedge Wizard. Ideally enjoyed Titan's story line and the opportunity to see more of the Hero world! Sadly I am really behind with recording videos and need to put that one on the back burner, though the series was awesome. I can't wait till we get Blades and Barriers! Thanks again for the recommendation.

@@FantasyInk You're very welcome! And I am looking forward to your video about Corpies, regardless of when it will be released. Your Super Powereds video got out so much quicker than I would have ever guessed :D
By the way, do you have a public TBR perchance? If you are interested in receiving more recommendations, I would love to do so. I think I might have a few more stories you would enjoy whenever you get around to read them.

I agree with you about putting corpies between 3 and 4. And that’s where I tell people to read it when I recommend the series. That being said, it’s worth mentioning that the author recommends reading it between 2 and 3. While that does technically spoil a small bit of 3 iirc, it’s very minor and explains why Titan shows up as Titan for his role in the climax of book 3 rather than still just being Owen.
And your point about the challenge of putting obstacles in the way of this unstoppable force that’s also an immovable object is amazing. And I think the fact that Drew made so much of the meat of that be emotional rather than just giving him a bigger thing to punch is excellent. And specifically that a lot isn’t just emotional but based on his own prejudices going into things at the beginning and then his tendency to find complacency in situations through the back half. Then finally getting the kick in the ass he needs to properly step up again. So freaking good

@@spike4972 Good points! I think, the actual "best" point would be within book three. I have not read the series this year yet, so I am not sure exactly, but I think it was after the winter break because afterwards those things in Corpies matter and make more sense with the ending. But who could stop in the middle? :D Drews choice to read it after book two does make sense of course, but next to reading it in the middle of three I think I prefer reading it after three because of Roy's development and how you would learn more about Titan basically right atfter that badass scene in 3.
I think you put well what makes Corpies such a good read :) Drew wrote such a great world and series. I really hope he will come back to it at some point.

Super Powereds is 1 of my favorite superhero series. Heyes Villains Code is also good. I have mixed feelings about Corpies, though I would love to see more of Hexalent and Hopcules. Marion G. Harmon’s Wearing the Cape series is a fave. And Check out Grrl Power online. The archive goes back several years. You can skim the first couple issues until Maxima shows up. Sydney is a funny ADHD character who bonds with some super-powerful alien artifacts. Dabbler is an alien magician succubus. Etc. Very bingable.
