You know that moment when you go to check settings in your BIOS only to realize someone has put on a password, so you find yourself locked out. I know the feeling, thats why i have put together a tutorial to help you to remove the password in UNDER 10 minutes!
First you need to download CMOSPWD
extract folder and copy it to the C Drive (Or whatever letter is your hard drive)
Next open a run window (Start Logo + R)
Type "cmd" and press enter
now type "cd c:\cmospwd-5.0\windows\" (C is drive letter and windows is operating system) and press enter
next type "ioperm -i" and press enter
after that type "cmospwd_win /k" and press enter
That will bring you to the screen that has the numbers "1" "2" and "0"
type "2" and press enter...
BAM!!!!!!!!!!! PASSWORD REMOVED
This will also work with windows 7, 8, Vista, XP
thank you for 100,000+ views CZcams!!!
BE SURE TO HIT THAT LIKE BUTTON, YOUR FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT TO ME!

Does the technique work for windows 10???
Sir my issue is same but I can't access os as it in emergency mode or control d in linux can u please guide how to solve both problem
Hi there! When that is happening, you can download a bootable program that can take care of that problem. Just type into google, "Bootable Bios Password Reset" or if you are using a desktop, locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard and take off the pin for about 20 seconds than reconnect it; it will reset the bios removing all passwords.
It took me FOREVER to find your answer on this! Thank you!
Now, let me say, look at your video...you misspelled "ioperm" but the technique worked great from within Windows. There is also a DOS folder in the software; maybe those without drive access could use that?
Thanks again! KUDOS!
As administrator, run "ioperm.exe -i" before.
can you help me about this problem Mr.Nik
yes, mine said it's installed
i got the same problem bro can u help me?
Edward Diaz me to am stuck on the same problem
@@abc_8773 same problem do you got a fix?

Hi Nik.
Many thanks for your efforts in posting this video. I have completed the process and it appears that although i got to the "cmos killed" in cmd prompt, PW requirement is still alive and well. I did it twice, tried the #2 and the #1 options. The laptop however would not restart so i had to cold shut down via the power switch. Laptop is a Panasonic Toughbook CF30 Mk2-F running Windows XP SP3 and the motherboard/bios is Phoenix.
Once restarted the F2 bios access still has the "password required" option. Have tried all other methods, backdoor phoenix passwords, cmos battery removed etc etc.
Any advice would be gratefully received and i will email you as well.
Regardless, many thanks for your efforts.
4:30 If it says that its not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file it means that it did nothing
this guy was misspelled the file name.
hey I also have win 10 64 bit, everything runs great, but when I type the first ioperm command, tells me that ioperm.sys is already installed, startservice function call failed. Then, when I go to the cmos_win /k, it shows the 1 2 0 options, when I hit 2, it tells me "as administrator, run "ioperm.exe -i" before
For me, I get everything working until I get to ioperm -i and it worked but fails to start. but when I go ahead to the kill cmos it says I need to start ioperm as admin but I started cmd as admin and ioperm as admin but still doesn't work.
Same here
it says Cmos killed, but still asking me for a password.
Me to
I don't think it works for windows 10. Also they might have patched it.
@@sir.buttersworth Isn't working for me in XP. It's because the password in laptops is stored in an EEPROM rather than the CMOS.
@@LBSiUK I tried everything on my HP Elitebook 470p. I have tried removing CMOS battery, killing CMOS battery with HP BIOS Utility tool and also I tried to remove bios password with the same utility tool. But none of it worked.
Hi:
I just completed watching your video and you made this very clear and easy to understand. What if I have Linux Zorin on my computer which was once windows 10? I converted over and want to go back to windows 10. I did this on my laptop. I did mess up the BIOS and put in a very strong password but lost it. You mention in your video that it can be done with any OS. I do have a factory windows 10 and would very much like to reinstall it. Can I still do it using the CMD even though it is supposedly the ZORIN OS? I hope I made myself clear in explaining my situation. I look forward to your response.😊
I used this fix and it worked like a champ. It took me a couple of try's but it worked!!!!!
Many thanks!!!!
"ioperm.sys" installation failed :( How to fix it? Please.... TIA
Very good! It worked in HP R410 with windows 7. Thank you!
when it comes to the end of everything does not appear to me the same thing that you have discord to be able to communicate with you?
Thank you soooo much! It worked great on an Acer netbook that has been locked up for about 6 years.
Ladies and Gnetlemen, I have diagnosed and found the problem for windows vista/7/8/8.1 users and am currently making the video to show how to kill the password on these operating systems, please stay tuned and thank you for your patience!
U already got the video ready??

Assuming you have no access to admin account:
-Find system32 folder
-Rename Utilman.exe to Utilman.exe.old (you may need a linux livecd to do this, alternatively you can get a livecd specifically for removing the password on windows operating systems)
-Make a copy of cmd.exe
-Rename cmd.exe to Utilman.exe
-Restart
-Click on the accessibility settings icon in bottom left at login screen
-cmd window pops up
-type net user * [username here]
-Press enter twice
-???
-Profit!
FirstName LastName What you just posted helps nobody here with the password they need. What you have posted is a work around for windows 8 LOCAL account passwords only. The problem everyone is having here is this video for cmospwd5.0 is for bios pwd but only works on Windows 32 bit systems and not 64 bit systems.
Martin C.
Yeah I saw the first second of the video and probably assumed it was going to be a boot disk, and for some reason must've mistook the whole operating systems thing for breaking local passwords. In my defense, I was probably drunk at the time.
Hey Julian, I am not quite sure what you're asking, but this tutorial was performed and filmed on a laptop. So if you're asking, Yes it is safe to use on a laptop computer, just be sure to follow instructions and you will have the password gone in no time!
What should I do if I can't log into the operating system? Is there an ISO program available that I can run?
Hi there DH. If there is a password that is preventing you from bolting into the system and BIOS, this is known as a POWER ON PASSWORD (POP) in which case you need a bootable utility that can remove the password for you. Search google for a bootable BIOS password removal tool. Good luck!
Hi im get "As administrator, run "ioperm.exe -i" before." when i run it
ioperm.sys is already installed.
StartService function call failed.
then i run cmos_win /k again and im in the loop

254 MB RAM HOLY
thanks it worked on Toshiba satellite A210 16-F password was removed. also i choosed option 1 and after shutdown bluescreen apears but no problem with BIOS pass and OS successfully booted
Ioperm -I is for windows xp. For windows 7, run ioperm or ioperm.exe after first command is executed (be sure to run command prompt as administrator so there are no restrictions on command line)
hey, I saw you have Skype, im Eric Burton and I sent you a contact request, can you Please accept my request so you can help me 1 on 1 on Skype. I really need this fixed.
please.. pin it on top
as administrator, run "ioperm.exe -1" before what does that mean?
I have the same problem, what did you do?
Pol Torres, that file is only needed when running Windows Vista/7 as you have to choose to run as administrator (right click command prompt and click Run As Administrator). Where as in windows xp you set the account type through control panel, I hope this helped!
For Windows 7 doesnot works:(
Hi there! I know, after review it was a typo, the correct file is ioperm -i. Thanks
Hi,
Very nice video, thanks. I have Lenovo Ideapad Z580 laptop (running windows 8 64 bit) and its asking for a password to get into BIOS for some reason unknown to me. I do not want to open my laptop and try something as risky as removing the CMOS battery as suggested by many in other CZcams videos, can you please help me? I want to install other OS like Ubuntu. Thanks a lot.
after enter choice 2 its show
as administrator, rum "ioperm.exe -i" before.
pls help me
u means to say that we just need to move jumper from one pin to.another and remove battery for 30 seconds right...?
seems like everything works, before I want shut down the laptop: it struggle and can't do anything about it (Acer x51L) i it able to handle it?
Hi there! Check and make sure the file was downloaded correctly. Try redownloading the program and run through the steps again
thanks! it worked for me! Bless you!
ioperm is installed but not starting
seriously what does it mean when it says "as administrator run ioperm.exe -i before
*****
same here
nope didnt fixed my problem
neither mine :( tried everything in win 7
Ioperm.exe is the file that contains the command to kill the bios password. This video was done on XP so the ioperm command is slightly different. As for using an external HDD as the source, that should be fine, just make sure you use the external HDD as the destination for the program. And ensure you have an OS to use.
so how are you saying we should fix this? im a little confused. you say to type ioperm -I but it says its failed. If I put ipoerm, It works but then it gives me the message. Run Ioperm-i before.
How to find that directory path? is it 5.0 or any other
For windows 7 all he same but like this
1. download link
2. extract to you main hard ie. C:/
3. Start Logo + R
4. cmd
5. cd c:\cmospwd-5.0\windows\
6. ioperm -i
7. cmospwd_win /k
8. press 2 , enter
in case anyone was wondering if it works for win 7
i just tried to reboot and has not removed password
bios-pw.org/
i used this and it work just keep entering the first code
good day!! can you please help me with my purchased old laptop. i cant still erase the cmos password even i follow your above instructions. i'm hopefull you can assists me. thanks
Your data will not be touched, this program zones in specifically on the bios/cmos password, completely apart from any data on your hard drive
It is still working perfectly, thanks. I used for Phoenix SecureCore in LG x300-L ARW6T.
I’m glad it helped you!
like your video
in your CMD command
C:\documents and settings\user
but my cmd
C:\user\pawan>
so this command is not working to remove my BIOS
system can not find path.....
please suggest
Hi there! Sometimes the jumper is hard to access, and if you don't have the right tools or knowledge you could damage key components. So this was an alternate way to avoid those potential hardware hazards
I am on windows 7 can you help me get the file for the cmospwd pleade thank you
dude! I cant copy anything to the c drive because i cant get past the blue password box at startup!!! how am i supposed to follow these steps if i cant get into the system???
Hey, I was just wondering if you could help me out with a question that I've got. I have a Lenovo T460s which had my bios pwd as a finger print. Some reason it passes my fingerprint, then asks for a password. Only problem is that I have never set a physical password to my laptop. I see your doing this on an older laptop or PC running windows XP. I looked into my registry and found that my Bios version says this, REG_MULTI_SZ LENOVO - 0N1CET52W (v1.20) Phoenix BIOS SC-T v2.1
so my bios version would be 2.1 where you are writing 5.0? so this would be mine - cd c:\cmospwd-2.1\windows
??
"as administrator run "ioperm.exe -i" before." :
Start>Programs>Accesories>Right Click Command Prompt>Run as Administrator>Redo everything

I don't see how you got into operating system with out the password. Mine has locked up and states system disabled *CODE* service tag *#* and won't let me boot to OS. Also, its a dell mini inspiron 10, so the battery removal and has no jumper. NOW WHAT?
I get up to the CMD black box bit but keeps saying for me commend not reconsided all the time sorry cannot spell it

Ipoerm was a typo, I'm sorry, the correct command is ioperm!
+R. Ran It did not work: "not recognised as an enternal/external command... " etc.
Anyone pls help me.I am using lenovo ideapad Z580 laptop. And when i follow these steps then i saw "startservice function call failed"after running ioperm -i .
same
Where did I go wrong? the command was done successfully, but when i tried opening the bios it still has the same password.
that video is so good! thanks for your channel
It didn't work. According to Grenier (cmospwd creator), laptops store Bios pwd i eeprom not cmos. He says to remove the Bios hardware (chip) with heatgun, set in new chip. Another says remove main battery & small, circular battery, & drain laptop of all power. I'll try that; not my pc.
Can I use Hiren’s BootCD 15.2 to remove the password because I messed up the size of the screen D- SUB out of range if you can't help what I'll be greatly appreciated it would be nice if I could burn it to a CD or USB

It didn't worked. I followed everything and it kills the CMOS but the PC never shuts down it hangs. I have to shut it down holding the power button so the password remains.

Problem!!
Says
1- Kill cmos
2- Kill cmos
0- Abort
Choice: 2
As administrator, run "ioperm.exe -i" before.
--------------------------
idk how to get trough that..
I even tried to start cmd.exe in administrator mode.. didnt help it either..
+CryBite Is it cause of me having 64bit pc?
+CryBite same issue
+CryBite In the video, he typed IPOerm.exe -i (emphasis mine), but it's actually IOPerm.exe -i (emphasis mine again). I discovered the same thing. Just be sure and use _ioperm.exe -i_ first (NOT IPOerm.exe -i), then _cmospwd_win.exe /k_, option 2. Worked for me when I did that.
Hope this helps.

+CryBite same problem with me :(
