He touched on many good points, customer service and charging a fair price. I like the fact that he uses QUALITY products and then said if you have to go up in price just a bit things will work out. I don't know how many times I've seen a business go the Cheap route to save a couple of dollars and customers know when things have changed and they will choose to not return, I heard long ago that its easier to keep customers then find new customers everyday. Keep customers happy and they will keep coming back because we all are creatures of habit and when we find something we like .... that's what we go for.
True charging a fair price can be a huge important part of this success customers will come back if they see its fair ! Great video
I'm just starting to launch my hotdog cart business... you are very inspiring.. thank you for sharing your great incite
Awesome awesome interview I really appreciate the information and a transparency is very motivating for my new hot dog business😊
Great interview. Very transparent.
Beautiful words there at the end
Next time you are in Kalamazoo check out Youz Guys!
ALL great info...my personal comment is "you don't go to a great hot dog place--and order a fake plant based hot dog". If you want a hot dog--get a damn REAL hot dog !
thank you for the video
Thanks!!!
Is it Kogels dogz that you are serving? Best dog in Michigan!
come try charlies on long island on a saturday best onions on the planet my favorite place was coney island joe s on linden blvd. back in the 80 s
You could have a dispensary like that ( with Bullet Proof glass )
No need to have anyone inside a store.
Menu on the window...
Very good interview! I have a food trailer and will put it in service very soon selling hot dogs and other items. We have a "special" sauce vs chili for our dogs that should go over very good. I could surely use help from you in the startup etc. if you have time? Either way, we share the same passion for people vs the passion for cooking.
👍
My dog guess is Sabbratts!!!
Would have to be Vienna for a Chicago dog, Sabratts for a NY dog.
😮😂 wow what is the name of this hot dog food I need it enrolled.
👏👏👏👏👏

Is that $50k gross sales? Or $50k profit after COGS? $50k profit would be close to $100k in sales.
Usually gross because it sounds better, but yeah I prefer they tell us the net profit. Like after taxes, utilities, rent etc.
so he makes less than min wage
Here where I live your customers must have access to a restroom
Immediately after they eat your food?
Nice spot for only $800 a month.
A steal! He lucked out 💯 👏🏼
Great success story, too bad 50k a year is not enough money to live these days unless you're slumming it. I could see this being a great side gig for someone. This guy is doing it right though, its only what, 4 ish hours a day and he has other jobs as well.
You can totally do it as a main gig if other passive investments are working for you.
he might live above and get a discount for the window and apt
I agree, but yeah he could make much more if he wanted to hustle more....I personally know it's completely easy to make $1k per hour, but that's at events.
50k/yr in 1980 was good. In 2024 it’s not much above a median income with no room for advancement or benefits. It’s a good side gig or weekend thing. I hope he has another job that pays better.
1980?! 😆 How old are you?
@@martinramirezmi5457 I’m middle aged. But even in in the 1990’s when I went to college, a solid starting salary for a CPA at a large national firm was in the mid-40’s. Today, the average salary for men is around 60k. And this guy has zero benefits. It’s a living, but not a good one. How inexperienced in the world are you my friend?
50k for a window!!!!!? You are out of your mind.
Just checked on their business and they have 1 Yelp review and 32 Google reviews all about the owner and none about the hotdog quality. And the hotdogs are $4-$8.
So what's your point
Exactly what I was thinking.@@tayjay814
Same question, what's your point?
50k a year ? You need a new job
50k/yr isn't that much. I make 60k/yr.
Congratulations! He works 16 hours a week
@@jimmycurtinI work 45 hrs/ week...and I hate my job...and I hate my foul-mouthed boss. I'm about to quit actually.
@@robinly Can always find better. I just did myself. Best of luck to you
@@jimmycurtin I just got a new full time job and a part time job. I'll be working 60+ hrs/week to make the same amount, but I'll be stress free and happier. Thanks
And how many hours do you work? Also I'm pretty sure you are a wage slave and hate your job and your life.
what a shit business
He makes $78hr.
@@mikeadam80 youre too dumb to understand
Lol, he DJs which is code for he's not serious about expanding the Hot Dog business. If he was serious he wouldn't have time to fart around acting like he's a DJ. Next...
He's open 16hrs a week. Sounds pretty cool. Also isnt open in jan because its freezing.
@@mikeadam80 0:01 I will say his walk-up window on a public sidewalk is amazing. That is VERY rare to be allowed to have such a window. I'm a HUGE fan of brick-and-mortar restaurants without dining rooms.
@@dammitbobby283same low overhead and not having to deal with customers inside. Less overhead not having to deal with dirty bathrooms people are nasty. There a place in New Orleans that Does that and do very well. Selling chicken wings, fried rice.
If he makes enough money and is still able to enjoy his passion on the weekends, I'd say he's winning. Not everyone wants to be the megacorp trading their time for profit. NEXT.
That’s it 50 k. No thanks
LOL, people like you always have some kind of whiny excuse. That's why you'll never be successful because you want a job where you can sit and watch TV and make 150k a year putting in no effort.
50k net. I will take it!
$50k and he is open 6 hours a day for 5 days a week. I'll take that.
@@overindulgent I make 5 times that doing wheel repairs mobile appointment only. 9 to 3 m thru f with absolutely no inspection little overhead
At 4:26 he says his hours are Tuesday to Friday 12-4. Plus he takes off all of January.
I hope I can make more than that, otherwise what's the use... I was anticipating 100k+ in profit...is my expectations to high?? Actually thought a 100k was sub par reasonable for a hot dog cart ...
