@@WillEdmond I really can’t recommend any places that you haven’t already explored. I love Charleston and Savannah. I plan to explore Saint Augustine Florida soon, but I believe you’ve already been there as well. Wherever you decide to go, I’ll be watching because I love exploring new places too.

Early 30s black professional trying to decide between Ashville, NC & Greenville, SC. For some added context I was planning to move in 2 months to St. Pete in Tampa from Austin,TX but after seeing what Hurricane Ian is doing that seems like a mistake. What I loved about St.Pete was the artsy/eclectic feel to the city. Beach views which I will gladly trade for land/greenery in the Carolinas. Just trying to find a diverse area where I'd feel welcome and have access to great food but have the availability to live in some quiet. Hoping to get some advice as I have to make a decision soon.
I’d choose Greenville because it’s more relaxing and up and coming. Not like the influx like Austin.

I enjoyed it! Clean city and not the much traffice. I'm a fan of small-mid sized cities. And plus it's close toe mountains and many hiking trails.
I'm retiring to the Greenville metro area in the fall of 2024. I am done with Florida's problems.

Will where have you been? I am from Greenville. It's not a lot to do, if you want to do anything you are better off heading towards Atlanta or Charlotte.

"Hidden gem people don't know about"-- yeah some of the cleanest air in the country, plenty of very good water, and essentially no natural disasters.
Keep your damn mouth shut.
Go to Jones Gap (it's connected to Table Rock) -- there's hundreds of miles of trails there, and it's partially a temperate rain forest with huge numbers of salamander species (the most in the world)-- sometimes they literally cover the trails). It's freaky.
