    Up north running off road with fenders in mud and snow you use the suspension raise to be able to chain up. It raises it up enough to get underneath the fenders they’re quite common here

    The race differential or the airbags are designed for when you back down into a dock area and your trailer setting so low that your landing gear scrapes the concrete the airbags raises it up to get it up over the concrete without dragging your landing gear I wish I had that on my truck number of operating now it would save me a lot of headaches

    Nice truck, the only thing that seems odd to me is the large amount of analogue gauges.
    Most Euro trucks have a less cluttered dash, with almost every item being available on the display, with items that are out of normal popping up automatically.
    This gives a cleaner look to the dashboard, maybe even giving less distraction.

    • @TruckersLife1
      @TruckersLife1  Před 2 lety

      Yea, I hear ya, but that’s your “classic” Kenworth dash package. For 2021, they have made the gauges right in front of the steering wheel, a 15” tablet screen with all the abilities your talking about. However, the gauges off to the right, (by the radio touch screen) are still analog.

      Well, there’s plus and minuses to every brand of truck. This is the first Paccar we’ve owned. There’s things I like and things I miss from the Volvo. All in all, it’s been a good truck so far. We’ve had no brake downs, no warranty issues, and it’s starts every time I turn the key, lol. 😂😂

    What kind of loads are y'all running with your super sleepers? You've gotta be rolling off the scale wet with just the tract weighing at least 27k. The ones that I've been looking at on facebook have been around 23-26k with full fuel and full water tanks, and just the tractor. I'm thinking of getting one in a couple of years, and trying to come up with a plan on what to expect if I should go o/o, or if there's companies that I can lease on with having a super sleeper.

    • @TruckersLife1
      @TruckersLife1  Před rokem

      Hey Chris,
      You’ll find these trucks in a lot of different situations. Some are with Landstar pulling loads for the military. Some with Southern Pride pulling jet engines for Boeing and Lockheed. Some with Bennett doing the same.
      We don’t have our own authority yet. The company were leased on to, (Mag Carriers) let’s us book our own loads. Not off their load board, but ALL the load boards are open to us. So we can pick and choose the loads we want and negotiate the rate.
      Now, just like a normal sized truck, we can’t go over 80,000 lbs, (full of water, fuel and our empty 53’ dry van) we’re 40,680 lbs empty. That means we can still haul 39,000 lbs of freight, but there’s so many light loads out there, we don’t usually ever get close to that. We just haul general freight. It could be auto parts one day, and clothes, food, mowers, etc the next day.
      You can get your own authority, (and we want to do that) but if you don’t, who you lease onto makes a BIG difference!!! Not all companies are the same. Mag Carriers only keeps 10% of whatever we book. Some companies keep a lot more than that. We have all the load boards open to us. Some companies only allow you to book loads off THEIR load board. Make sure you do your homework!!!

    • @chrismcallister7050
      @chrismcallister7050 Před rokem

      @@TruckersLife1 I've thought about Southern Pride. I'll have to look into Mag, though. I've never heard of them until I bumped into y'alls video! I'll definitely give them some thought. And yeah I'm definitely doing my homework. I'm still a few of years out from executing this so I'm trying to gather what info I need now, and plan ahead. Eventually, though, I do plan on getting my own authority and everything that entails. Also, do y'all own your own trailer? Or is Mag providing it for you?

    Beautiful truck! If i go for my cdl, I'll want something like this after a year or two of training (esp if i go long-haul/otr).
    Question; How do other truckers feel about the custom/extended sleeper? Do they like it? Hate it? Jealous?

    One last question:
    Are you legal to drive in
    California pulling a
    53’ refrigerator trailer

    • @TruckersLife1
      @TruckersLife1  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yes. However, because of the weight of this tractor, you probably won’t be able to pull a refer. This tractor with a 53’ dry van is 40,680 lbs. refer trailers are heavy empty, and most refer loads are 40,000 lbs PLUS. You’ll be over 80,000 lbs with most refer loads.

    I'm looking forward into buying one of these trucks within the next year-and-a-half. What is the financing like on these trucks such as down payment and monthly payment?

    • @TruckersLife1
      @TruckersLife1  Před 2 lety +1

      Congratulations!!
      As far as financing goes, your dealer can run you through whatever manufacture your choosing: Kenworth, Volvo, Freightliner, etc. Also your dealer probably works with several banks they know. You might try your own bank since they already know you. ARI does financing too. Your probably going to need at least 20% down.
      With you payment, use an online car or mortgage calculator, plug in all the info and you’ll get a pretty good idea of your payments. Financing usually runs 84 months on these trucks. Depending on your credit score, I’d figure about 10% on the interest rate, if it turns out to be less….all the better.
      Here’s a good calculator to use:
      www.nerdwallet.com/article/loans/auto-loans/car-loan-calculator
      Hope this helps.

    • @TruckersLife1
      @TruckersLife1  Před 2 lety

      Well, I’ll put it this way. You can get these sleepers as small as 120”, up to 196”. So ours is right about in the middle. I believe they can go well over $500,000., maybe more depending on how custom you go. Ours is a 2020 and we bought it new in February of 2021, so they were wanting to get rid of it. A 2021 - 120” was going to cost us more than this 2020 - 156”, so we got a great deal….but it was still pretty pricy. We could have bought a nice, new house for less 😂😂
