Controversial opinion time: Everyone was so quick to tear apart Elena Rogers for not being as vocally good as Patti LuPone and saying no one would ever live up to Patti. Well... Solea BODIED Miss LuPone last night. Obviously no ill-will to Patti she’s a legend and a historic Evita but after listening to Solea give us what in my opinion was the best Evita to date I can’t go back to listening to anyone else! I NEED them to do a cast album 😭 Solea was perfection and her Rainbow High?!!! OMFG short of breathe just thinking about it! This is a Broadway production worth investing in.

Lauren Murphy I get what you’re saying, but the Eva who showed up in Buenos Aires was ambitious and out going, not a wide eyed doe. I don’t think she’s a bad actress I just think the interpretation is off.
Evita is my favorite musical. I cant believe I missed this production. I didnt hear about it until just now. I will travel anywhere to see a good production of Evita. The last time I saw Evita was 2014 at the Kennedy Center. It was AWESOME!!! Washington DC here.

This Jason, though -- he sort of hams it up, so you always know he's Acting. And he does a really distracting thing with his arms, relaxing them to his side and and letting them flop around??
Are there three Evas?? One of my local theatres did a production of Evita last year and they had three Evas (a young, middle, and older) and I thought it was PHENOMENAL.

So maybe we'll get lucky. What I would love a concert/partially staged version of Evita, at the Royal Albert Hall a la Phantom.

The 1940s/50s actress Lana Turner told a story about how she was in Buenos Aires for a film festival in the 1950s. She kept being told "Eva Peron wants to meet you" but she it was a short trip...and she was a little afraid and kept making excuses. The day Lana Turner was supposed to leave Argentina for the US, her passport got confiscated and she was told she was being driven to the Peron compound. She was very afraid. She waited in a sitting room. Eva Peron came down. She said, "I just wanted you to know that when I first came to Buenos Aires, I modeled my hairstyle after yours." Then Peron left, Turner got her passport back and got driven back to the hotel. To make that story even more bizarre, it was told by Lana Turner to Patti Lupone one night after the original Broadway run in late 1979 or 1980 when Turner went backstage to Lupone's dressing room after a performance.
