I love your show with a passion. You have the best voice and performance of anyone!! You should be on TV. Like HGTV for sure.
I buy my Proven Winner plants based on "what Laura says." :) I've never been disappointed in a single one. Thanks for having her explain/advertise the plants she uses.
Congratulations on the birth of your baby!
Thank you for all the info! I'm starting my cottage gardens journey and so excited!
I can’t get enough of these fantastic videos. Thank you!
Absolutely YES, on that daylily reminding me of an iris, too! So beautiful. thank you for a great video. So helpful to me in zone 8 to 8b. Blessings, love and hugs.
So much bloom on those plants. Amazing!
Planning and planting for the pollinators is an excellent way to garden!
I have to watch your videos several times because I learn new things every day. Thank you for being so supportive and smart 💖
Your amazing 9 days after you are working! You go girl! ❤️💜
This is a wonderful video and I now know about many new selections of beautiful perennials for my gardens. Thank you so much. 🌸🌼🌞
Very helpful video and you are straight forward. Love the zone information you provide as well
Hooray for the chance of red... 😁 Frankly Scarlet looks beautiful. ♥️
Love the hibiscus 🌺 can't wait to go plant shopping
I just love how your cat is always around you.
This was so helpful! We are in northern Ohio, have lots of deer and rabbits in our area, and while we have a lot of shade in parts of our yard, we do have afternoon sun in the back. We just installed a beautiful in ground pool, and need ideas for plants and this helped big time.
O my gosh. I found this so satisfying. Thank you.
Hi Laura
I just moved from Wisconsin to Arkansas last june. I'm learning everything all over again because soil grow zone seasons and everything is so different. I planted Dianthus and it has never died back. It has bloomed on warm days and has closed buds when it's cold like today 28 degrees f. It was always 1 of the first things to come to life back in Wi. Thank you for the video and your thoughts. God bless you
WOW! Thank you for having my favorite gardener show us these flowers and especially in her garden.
Very nice going to have to look for the shade loving ones they will work inside my apt even if next apt doesn't have a porch or growing space like this one
Wow new at this black thumb and don’t want a lot of work but like to see it come up every year you have helped me so much thank you
Thank you so much! Very informative!!
I am learning so much from your videos. Thx for sharing
I love watching your videos especially during the gray days of February. I am excited to try the ornamental oregano, the fuschia salvia and the creeping phlox. Hoping spring comes early here in Zone 5!
Î
I stand AMAZED at all the wonderful things
that GOD has Given/Designed for our enjoyment! And I appreciate that Laura teaches us how to introduce and Garden properly to have a great "Haven" --- so eager to get outside and watch my Garden grow! Thanks Laura and big Thank you Proven Winners...............I LoVE you both!
Congratulations on Samantha Grace!
Love those perennials!
Great review. I see a lot that I want. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Thanks good to know. I like watching instead of reading about the flowers. It's easier to understand
Thank you so much 💓. I have hibiscus and they are always glorious ❤
I Had a double Yellow Hibiscus I planted at a rental so I coudn't take it with me when I moved. I Have never seen another Hibiscus that could come close to its beauty. I always watch for another when plant shopping but haven't found. I ordered some seeds from "Itsy" but haven't planted yet, keeping my fingers crossed.
Awesome! Loved your video! Hope I can find some of these plants.
Thank you! I took the notes and will have to start planting based on your advice!
Wonderful!
I just found your channel and was very impressed.
In this video Samantha Grace is only nine days old? You look amazing. And you’re already making this video. That’s pretty amazing. Congratulations and thank you for the video
Love this video - I learned so much about perennials and combining plants in my garden. Please keep them coming. Suggestion: please leave the name of perennials a bit longer on the screen so I can write it down. Thanks again for the u-tube video.
Waw how wonderful your flower plant
I totally get your dianthus dilemma since the bloom cycle is relatively short. I gave up on them and planted day lilies instead and am glad. More powerful presentation for sure. Just my experience. Love this video
Really enjoy DayLilies and have expanded my selection this year. I'm in zone 9 and have a short growing season but daylilies are super.
YES we need to encourage pollinators! So happy you mentioned that - so important right now.
Congratulations Mom & Dad 💞
Isn' t it a Wonderful World 😇
II'm a Nanna 🤗
The Joy !
Okay ...
I'll pay attention. !
Love & Blessings
To You All 💞
So many beautiful options, it's hard to choose! Looking forward to getting some plants in the ground this growing season.
I am addicted to watching your videos (even though we are covered with a blanket of snow today here in Seattle today). A favor: could you keep the name of the plant up on the screen as you continue to talk about them? I often watch your explanation and then have to rewind to get to the name. I'm keeping a list of your recommendations as we move towards the warmer seasons. Thanks you!
Thank you for sharing.
AWESOME video 👍
Dianthus thrives in my 8-9 harsh sun light in TN. Will definitely get more for next Summer!
Purple flowers of all kinds keep popping up all over my property. Purple seems to be the color this year
Yes, I’m making my list for 2021
Beautiful flowers. I need to buy more shade plants. My shady flower beds are lacking luster. Thanks for posting.
Love it's and great video🥰🥰😇😇
Thanks!
Dianthus is my favorite! This is only my second year with them but I totally understand what you mean about dead heading. It seems like they have one big bloom and then staggered for a few months after. I wish I could ship both that you showed to alaska!
Laura, you are the Queen of Proven Winners in every way that matters!
Amazing
Thank you so much! Just found you on CZcams and can’t stop watching. I’m in my 70s and not a natural gardener- thanks for sharing easy-care gardening tips!!! AND what are those little trees you have behind you in pots??
Those are small Lemon Cypress trees....thanks for watching!
Loving that Hibiscus
Yah red......the best foil for red is green, dark green, preferably up a tree like Tropaeolum speciosum. Red doesn't mingle with much except a lovely dark dark saturated cool viloet purple (not the warmer red toned purples) can look fabulously like shot silk, some of the newer Suprbena's or Verbenas are good in this combo. Wish Laura, yes you lived in Southern Florida because I just love your honesty and enthuisiasm and finding good new lovely flowers is rather tricky down near Cuba, even just half way there. Garden centres are very prone to selling stuff that wont thrive in our zone in season, they look fabulous and are soooooo enticing but one rain and they're gone to fungal heaven for good. So yah please move to Miami Florida, branch out lol
I love your videos. We just bought 5 1/2 acres and I am going to go wild with planting flowers. I appreciate your detail info on each flower. Keep the videos coming. And CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW BABY!!
Congratulations!! How exciting for you Tina, that sounds heavenly
I am very impressed by your knowledge!!! I work in a perennial growing nursery , and we grow almost all of the varieties you have mentioned. You are spot on with all the research we have done! We are trialing the Opalescence series of Phlox right now. Is the mildew resistance true?
We can never promise 100% resistance, but it is much more resistant than other plants on the market.
Yes! I agree on the Dianthus, I am always indecisive with them. I love the color but it seems the dead heads muck up the look.
I have never had a garden but I hope to start one this year zone 6 ...this is the most inspiring video I have watched (and I’m watching a lot of them) thank God for the algorithm. Do you have a video on growing herbs in zone 6 (6a)...That is where I would like to start.
B.
Still looking for an improvement over "Caramel" heuchera, this could be it. Absolutely bulletproof in zone 7 in a variety of locations.
All these are nice though.
Proven Winners always seem to do well in my garden
Hello! I love the Spot On Lungwort Pulmonaria! I have visited the link listed to purchase but it doesn't have that option. Could you tell me where I might find to purchase? Thanks!
New subscribe here. Morning from Europe, Italy. 💓💓💓💓
It is inspiring and exciting to listen to you talk Ma'am. I wish I was your sod-puller.
Can you keep the name of the plant on the screen while you are talking about it? I keep having to rewind to catch the name at the very beginning of each segment. Love your presentations.
These are Beautiful plants but how do you keep the snakes away from your garden?
I live in the country of Tennessee and there are poisonous ones. Is there anything to Repell them? Thank you and love your videos. 🦋🌻🌻🦋
You have a ton of knowledge about. flowers
My 2 heaven scent jacob's ladders have no notable aroma, but they looks gorgeous under a dogwood.
I gave up on dianthus for the same reason. I spent a ton of time selectively deadheading and couldn't keep up. Beautiful plant but so time consuming!
Hello ! I am a new subscriber from Seattle! I have a couple of questions. I live in the north of the US, and I believe we’re on area 8. Can you give an advise will perennials will do good in pots? I also need some that they’re low maintenance since I am suffer from artritis an have a limited movement, but I like plants and flowers! Thank you!
Thank you for the videos! Love! Love Love all of them!
Could you give some specifics on rabbit resistant perennials? Or what to do with rabbit issues? Thank you!
The best thing for rabbits is Plantskydd spray. It does smell, it does discolor the plants, but if you spray it at each sign of new growth the bunnies will stay away. FYI, it is an organic product, and personally I have found the spray is much more effective than the granules.
One of my favorites is a Black Lab.
I am looking for recommendations for deer resistant perennials flowers that I can grow in containers.
Plants to mix and match in each container wouldn't that be awesome...
Any help ?
Thank you so much for video. Would you be able to make suggestions for a small flower bed that gets sun?
This page on one of our websites has lots of ideas for different landscapes, enjoy! beauty.provenwinners.com/landscape-gardening/
❤️
The hummingbirds were buzzing when I was cleaning up my large patch of lungwort
Hello..I'm from the Philippines.would proven winners try some of your plants in our country. Coz we need more beautiful flowing flowers here.
I have flower boxes by my front windows I get some sun then some shade. I’m looking for suggestions on what are the best plants for the front. On my deck I have boxes however a lot of sun. Love what you do you have always been very helpful. Your help is always appreciated.
Here is our container recipe search page, and under POT STYLE you can choose window box, we hope you find this helpful! www.provenwinners.com/container-gardening/container-recipes/search
What perennials will overwinter in containers, like whiskey barrels?
I'm new to your videos and love all the information you pack in! I'm interested in the new compact hydrangeas. Can they take lots of sun or will they wilt? Thanks.
Look at our website page that talks about the specific plant you are interested in and it will tell you the recommended light exposure. Most hydrangeas are best in full to part sun.
Your gardens are so beautiful, I'm a new gardener but I have a problem, I'm looking for perennials that I can with fill planter boxes(similar to old window boxes) that are 6 inches wide and 6-8 inches deep in full sun 12 hours a day.. ps. I have 16 of these boxes.. along my porch edge at 6.5 feet high. ...any ideas? Zone 5b
if possible please make a video on how to store hyacinths bulbs without soil for next year . Please please
Sorry to say we only make videos about our plants, and we do not offer these types of bulbs.
I am not a gardener at all. I need a couple of virtually no maintenance type of perineal flower bed. Is that even possible? Lol but I sure do have some good hosta plants growing!! I do not like cutting back plants in the fall.
These new low growing Hydrangeas are just beautiful! I plan on including them in my new garden plantings this spring. I would like to ask if you have experience in Proven Winners newest hydrangea, Fairytale Bride. My zone is 9a and live in the hot Central Valley, CA (Visalia, CA) where it gets 105-110 F in the summer. I am worried that I will burn up the hydrangea, so would you suggest planting in filtered sun area?
Chuck, please realize this is the Proven Winners CZcams page, this is not a Garden Answer page. Fairytrail Bride is not a Proven Winners hydrangea, so we cannot help with your plant question.
Laura, I love your channel. I am having challenges purchasing PW's for my zone 9a. It is wonderful to watch your vids but when I cannot find the plants, UGH! Is there an online site for your parents nursery?
You would have to call Laura's parent's garden center, but we do not think they offer online shopping. Creekside Nursery in NC does, just started with it this year.
Hey! such a fan! this is my first post. Any chance you could add ZONE info for Canada when you put up the map/chart? there are a HUGE amount of us here in Canada that follow Garden Answer. Just a thought! take care..
Hi Laura, love your videos! Can you please share where you purchased the grey concrete plant column you have in the background? Thank you! :)
Many items such as that were on the property when they purchased the home
I could not get my phlox to bloom, the deer bit them off every time they got to that point. :(
I have a creek running through my property and am constantly fighting the weeds coming up the sides of it. Do you have any suggestions of a perennial ground cover that would be vibrant in color and also be able to overtake the weeds?
It is better to remove the weeds or treat them somehow vs. trying to cover them with another type of plant. Some weeds are incredibly vigorous and can power through nearly everything. Take a picture of the weed to your local garden center to see what they recommend, they will be familiar with the weed that is invading your property.
Are there any of these available?
I have the worst time with dianthus. The plant grows great, but they hardly bloom. I do love the bluish grassy foliage though.
Divide it, if its a old plant. Too much competition for nutrition.
Maybe a PH issue or lack of nutrients.
Laura, how long do your heuchera actually last? Mine seem to last about 2 seasons, then die. What am I doing wrong?
Laura does not answer the questions on our CZcams page, but the best advice we can give about heuchera is to plant to the directions on the tag. Full sun heucheras, though rare, will do well in the sun, full shade need shade. Also, leave the plants alone prior to winter and in spring only remove the tattered leaves, do not cut back. We hope this helps!
LAURA IS THE TRUTH💜💙♥️🥰🙏🏿
What plants do you guys recommend for the front of a small house. I’m on a budget and I’m trying to do it myself to save money. Thank you

I recently meaning today lol I bought 2 salvia "Back to the Fuchsia" & Nepeta aka Cats Pajamas.. I am so happy I was able to get both I am just Terrified I will kill them. is there any video that you have that talks specifically about different types of Salvia and how to take care of them. I am located in Chicago Illinois I hope these two survive here. btw I planted them in full sun I hope I they are planted in the right spot.
xo
Isabel :)
A lot of these varieties aren’t carried by any of my garden centers. Can these be ordered online and, if so, what time of year do you order for next year’s bloom?
The links above will take you to the page on our website filled with information about that one plant, and also indicates if it is available for sale on the right hand side of that page. Best to plant early in fall and water well until the ground freezes over. Don't expect much from a perennial the first few years, the growth at this time is focused on the root system, building a strong base for a beautiful perennial in future years. Thanks for watching!
Is there a video you have done that features deer resistant perennials for container gardening ?
No, we do not have a video on perennials, only one on shrubs for landscapes. Plantskydd spray is incredibly effective, find out more by searching for the company's page online. Also, here is a list of the perennials we do consider deer resistant and are sized for containers--typically these are plants that are fragrant, very low to the ground, or tickle the deer's noses, such as a perennial grass. www.provenwinners.com/plants/search/advanced?duration=Perennial&deer-resistant=1&uses[0]=Container
How many of these are shade tolerant? Also, when you say higher pH, do you mean alkaline soil?
Each of the links above will tell you the sun exposure best for that particular plant.
I am moving to zone 9. When you say hardy zone 3= 8 does that mean too hot in zone 9?
Correct, and this actually relates to the night temps, which cause a chemical reaction within the plant to develop the blooms for the season ahead...
Love these so where do I buy them? Big box stores or boutique nurseries? I live in the bay area of California.
Visit our website and click on the Find a Retailer tab to locate stores in your area. We also sell a limited supply of plants online, click the link in the description to learn more.
Hi, (Thank you for sharing your knowledge. ) I live in the Ft. Worth Area. (Texas) what red flowers grow best. I have rose bushes that are not good. they are clumpy. I just have one now. But I need to pull it up.. What thrives in Central TX?
Go to a Nursery in your city/town and you will find all the plants that work best there..
