Excellent animation. What is the explanation for the formation of the island of Barbados that is not volcanic?

Barbados was formed along what is knows as an accretionary prism/wedge. It was formed as the top layer of material is pushed upwards when oceanic and continental plates collide (subduction zone). These sediments are scraped off the top of the downgoing oceanic crustal plate and are added to the edge of the continental plate.
