I presume this flawed but heroic reading was recorded in concert; while I applaud this pianist's fearlessness, and extraordinary largesse and power, it is a pity that this reading was not edited so as to eliminate the obvious slips and errors, as there is otherwise much to recommend such playing, no matter its admittedly Nyiregyházian elements. In some ways he combines the worst self- indulgence of Nyiregyhazi with the nobility of Dino Ciani....In any case, a fascinating pianist.
