The player Lebron is talking to at 0:25 is Lenny Cooke. He was actually the #2 ranked high school player in the country at that camp ahead of Lebron (Melo was ranked #1). He was projected by several sources to be a sure 1st round draft pick out of high school but due to a reported attitude and work ethic problem, he went undrafted, revoking his college eligibility in the process. He accepted a 350k advance from an agent to represent him for the draft during his senior year, leading many to believe the main cause for his attitude problem as he acted as though he already made it and could do whatever he pleased. He played in the D league and the Celtics summer league team before finishing out his career overseas. Truly a sad story as he had the skills and potential to be great.

Craziest part about this is that LeBron led the state in receiving touchdowns the year before and then quit football. He would have broke all of the nfl receiving records if he stuck with football, there’s no doubt. I worked for the Orlando magic for a decade and one of my co-workers graduated from SVSM with him. So whenever Cleveland would play us(we had some heated playoff games) LeBron would make time to talk to and hang out with us. Once he was lifting weights but not really lifting, just kinda seeing how much he could lift. He put 315 on the bar and benched it 10x like it was 150 lbs.
To this day, I believe there is no better athlete in the world than a SG or SF in the NBA.

Lebron had gotten publicity around Ohio when his team won a state championship his freshman year (2000) - Maverick Carter was the star but LeBron got a lot of buzz. The SI cover and ESPN stuff didn't happen until his junior year, but it all started to build when he was a sophomore. I was at Battelle Hall when Oak Hill (with Rashad Carruth, Desagna Diop, and Billy Edelin) played SVSM. Oak Hill narrowly won, but it was crystal clear to everyone that LeBron was by far the best player on the court. Even as a sophomore, he was physically mature and his game was incredibly mature.
