  • Flushing the coolant on my 2006 VT750DC. Honda uses blue coolant now so you can assume that any bike with green coolant is due for a change. Honda says you can mix the two coolants but it makes a brown color which isn't as cool as blue.
    You can use distilled water to flush the system. Only distilled water, anything else can damage the system.
    Remember that everything on this bike is metric so be mindful of that when using tools and shopping for washers.

    You're right, there aren't any good videos on the Spirit VT750, so I'm hoping you do a good one. Now on with the show! Okay pretty good, a little more detail would have been nice, but plenty good enough for me to figure it out. Thanks.

    Just about done. Your video helped. Thanks. Those sealing washers can be hard to find....but I lucked out at my local bike shop. Also I didn't take gas tank off....just repositioned it a bit. I also didn't remove reservoir...just flushed with water a couple times with hand operated transfer pump. With all the fills and drains... it took 4.5 hours for me.....but it was the first beautiful day of the year so it was a good excuse for some fresh air.

    Big help. Sadly, my coolant drain plug hasn't been cracked in a decade and the head seems a bit stripped. Will have to order a new one (with copper crush washer). I should probably also get a 10mm wrench that fits in that tight space.

    Thank you, very useful video. If I could make a suggestion for your future videos: please make slow and minimal camera movements. Yeah, I get motion sick easily and I started feeling sick a few minutes into the video.

    Great design Honda... just... great....
    They could of put the fill hole and the drain hole right on the front of the radiator on the front of the bike...

    Would you mind sharing what size copper crush washer you grabbed from the hardware store? Can’t get OEM soon enough!

      @@ManicMechanic666 shoot this is so long ago I can't remember. I'm pretty sure I took the old washer and bolt to the hardware store to see what would work. Or I just reused it🤣 can't remember sorry

    New to me, 07 shadow 750. So i'd like to check the antifreeze level? and If the automatic radiator fan comes on when needed?? Any knowledge?

    I want to check my coolant level. Is it possible to check/fill it without removing the gas tank?

    • @auztin98
      @auztin98  Před rokem +2

      Yeah just check the overflow tank. Directly under the radiator. It can be tough to see through/into so use a flashlight. Remember always do radiator/coolant work while the bike is cold!

    thanks for video. We have teh exact same bike/color/ seat option...LOL. I need to do the coolant change on ours and I found your video. Did you remove and pull the antirfreeze out of the overflow tank, or did it drain out with the drain bolt on the water pump removed?

    what's your opinion on using Prestone clean flush then adding coolant. is the same as distilled water.

    • @auztin98
      @auztin98  Před rokem +1

      I don't know. If you find a source that can approve it let me know. Motorcycle systems tend to be a little sensitive and particular. I try to just stick to the basics.

    I love that you have little idea what you're doing lol. You ran the bike for "literally just 10 seconds" to flush the system but you left the thermostat in so none of the distilled water actually circulated through the system. Also, you can reuse crush washers, you're just not supposed to.

    • @auztin98
      @auztin98  Před rokem +3

      I understand, this was back before I had my shop manual and it’s the first vehicle I ever worked on. I just learned recently to let the engine get to operating temperature so the thermostat opens up, that was an oversight by me. I also found in my shop manual there’s a second drain bolt. Oh well, that’s why we try things, so we can learn.
