    As a USAF pilot I’m complete nerding out right now … The one American pilot at the end, his Silver mech is an obvious nod to our real F-22 Raptors- I love this as they used so many details in their mechs ❤😅 idk what this show is yet, but it looks awesome and it’s dope how they took so much inspiration from the real thing.
    1) The mech’s chest area is made to look similar to the nose of the F22, and also includes very similar intakes on either side.
    2) (maybe my favorite part b/c they even thought of it) On the back of the mech’s body and tail/legs area (not positive if it was near the legs or attached to back of legs), they use the same exact shape of stabilizers that our F22 has, and similar type of thrust thrusters we use (the “jet” engines). It looks like the back of the legs have our horizontal stabilizers, and his back has our vertical stabilizers right above the propulsion system these guys use, which as mentioned also looks just like the F22’s thrust vectoring nozzles for the engine. To pull it all together, the placement is even correct in my mind 😁 (horizontals them engines then verticals. Oh and the fact that each leg has one (2 total) and there is 2 on his back is even correct as the f22 does have twin vertical stabilizers.
    3) Even little things like the particular slopes and angles the F22 uses to help with the radar cross section is pretty accurate.. And I even noticed they use the similar hexagonal shapes and similar pattern design on the mech that the F22 has on its skin. Even uses the 2 US Air Force National Star logos found on many planes in the Air Force in the mech’s chest.
    I’m sure there’s more but just what I noticed from this clip… Love this so amazing 😅
    Edit: Apparently this is an anime called Muv-Luv Alternative which I will now be binge watching lol.

      Yes, they most likely took a CG model of an F22 Raptor and for the most part just chopped and rearranged it a bit over a TSF base frame..filled in and molded some parts..(pretty easy work flow) and it looks great..I find myself doing similar with my own models at times.

      A big part of that is probably due to the fact that they don't have to constantly fight the Beta while everyone else run themselves into the ground.
      They already nuked the Beta that landed in Canada into oblivion and the only way they can make it over from the rest of the world is over the Bering Straight which is easily defended.
      That's why they are able to put their focus into an anti-TSF machine. They are already making themselves ready to take over the world once the Beta threat has been dealt with.

      The largest airforce in the world? The USAF. The second largest airforce in the world? The US Navy. Bc carrier strike groups are still the deadliest thing in global policing, but the USAF can kill watch your wife skinny dipping with your 20 yr old neighbor and record it from 80k ft in the air using a silent, nearly invisible, drone that can stay aloft indefinitely (though it needs to be refueled every 18 to 24 hours). It has super advanced camo tech that uses cameras and tiny LED monitors to appear invisible to anything short of a very careful investigation. it flies slow - lile 80 knots - to be quiet and if it does ping radar, it will be seen a glitch, noise, or maybe some geese (that are flying 60k ft higher than normal...)
      Telescopic lense, it can tell me if the carpet matches the drape, confirming that yo momma is turning grey. It's got all kindsa crazy remote sensing capabilities and can tell difference between a racoon and cat. Again, from 80k ft in the air. In broad daylight or middle of a moonless night

      technically the TSF is more viable than the VF-1 due to mechanical complexity reasons ... you have something that's supposed to be flying but is also transforming into a mech and mechs are already very complex to begin with and so are planes, especially fighter planes as they are very unstable to fly especially the 4th Gen ones which in 1 way shape or form relies on onboard computers just to retain stability. And as much of a macross fan i am even i have to admit that the VF-1s and its descendants are very flawed especially the siegfrieds from delta...

  • @LostLagrange
    @LostLagrange Před 2 lety +731

    The coolest part of this animation is, that’s exactly how a dogfight with an F-22 would go in real life. They were designed to be nearly invisible to radar. Even the most advanced radar in the whole world can’t actually track the F-22 as while it can detect the F-22 the radar cross section is so small, that actually tracking it is by radar is so close to impossible that most countries don’t even try. Instead, they employ state of the art motion tracking drone and satellite networks that track by sight. And even then. You almost never know an F-22 is there until it’s far too late. Truly an absolute beauty of technological advancement.

    • @user-dg2jz1gi5s
      @user-dg2jz1gi5s Před 2 lety +63

      That is not how it works.
      Dogfighting is no longer viable since turn fighting slows down the airframe to be very vulnerable to missiles.
      Since late 1980s, the US prioritizes in BVR combat. The F-22 maneuverability is not meant for dogfighting(offense) but for survivability when missile locked or in very rare occasions where engagement is in canon range(defense).
      Current US air-superiority manuals dictate that a units prioritizes in engaging in BVR and then scoot afterwards

      This is one the reason why the main character was so upset with all the situation, that day died many seasoned pilots and many good machines in great shape were destroyed, basically humanity was doing Beta's work for themselves.

      Ironically enough it is the reverse. Very much so the reverse.
      Muv Luv, the visual novel, came out in 2003. While Alternative was made in 2006 the mechanical designs very much were present for the first game, the company just didn't have the time and money to make them. Soviet and European TSFs were probably made later ofc.
      Muv Luv generally has way more influence on the anime industry and Japanese authors than you'd think. All You Need Is Kill (award-winning novel adapted into Edge of Tomorrow) is very Muv Luv inspired. Even Isayama claims he was strongly inspired by the plot of Muv Luv while writing Attack on Titan.
      Of course these both are separate from the cool mech fights and lean more on how the visual novel's plot was.

Maybe cut out some of the school like stuff with tama's dad and the exercise on the island as there no build up to them going to the island. Essentially u think they should have streamlined things a bit and focus on certain areas more to help build up to story moments. Even if it means changing the story a little bit.

      @@bransonallen2925 Well as all of us already pointed out Alternative is the only way to go what's with Extra and Unlimited don't seem to garner much demand (though I'm positive it's execution of the Isekai trope would be a fresh air in this saturated market). If anyone's to blame it's really just ourselves to set up the unrealistic standard.
      With that out of the way, in my opinion, the pacing of the episodes are too fast (though that's a common problem with animes), and a lot the details regarding Takeru's original world, his journey of the past, and his relationships with his classmate (that's already reduced compared to Unlimited since he focused in Alternative IV) get cut off too much in the anime. I also didn't notice this for the first time but while they change a lot of the character's hair they also change the design of the head piece from the pilot suit that the previous adaptations, wich are Schwarsesmarken and Total Eclipse, never did. The last two are a very minor complain but I can't see behind their reasoning.
      Honestly though, I'm still happy with what we got. If you change the media of an entertainment you would certainly deal with the upside-downside of said media, thus at the same time give you limitations and liberty unique to each media. This is a common recurring problem that I can't see the solution.
      Besides, anime adaptations nowadays are just an advertisement to the orginal's work so adapting it 100% accurate is simply not the main objective in the first place. They manage to express what can't be done in the VN and I'm satisfied with the executions.

      TLDR: Imagine Imperial Japan from WW2 who instead of going pacifist Kawaii culture IRL, still maintained their suicidal, racist ideology of Yamato Damashi.
      TLDR TLDR: If you squint, it is essentially a mockery of the entire "JAPAN STONK" stuff that GATE is trying to portray.
      The entire thing is grey, but IIRC in this universe the Satsuma rebellion in 1877 was successful, which meant that the at the time slowly displaced Samurai caste regained their power and privileges.
      There are a bunch of cooler minds in the Japanese civilian government, but the rebels you see here accused them of treason before killing them.
      The ones here essentially angry at the US for essentially using them as frontline "fodder" (which isn't really the US's fault because seriously its the BETA) and believe that Japan can push out the US (doubtful) and fend for themselves (despite food shortages, they are still receiving non-insignificant food imports from the US though they are trying to build and open a artificial food processing plant IIRC), and also defend themselves against the BETA (last time they tried they almost got wiped out as the Japanese military was more or less green with only a few pilots with limited experience who fought in China, but were eventually able to stall/slow them up to Yokohama).
      In the MLA setting, Japan really does not like the US especially since the US pulled out due to their previous experience against the BETA on the European front and previously Lunar front, especially in how they should avoid frontal conflicts, leading to a collapse in the Japanese front line, essentially for all intents and purposes violated their treaty.
      When the BETA began to rapidly grow a Hive at Yokohama, Japanese, UN, COSEAN (along with unofficial US military support) attacked it first with conventional forces before the US space corp dropped the experimental G-Bomb on it, which is made using G-elements harvested from destroyed BETA hives, which at this point was one in Canada which the US saturation nuked as soon as it landed. Thus the first victory against the BETA since the conflict started for more than 2 decades.
      Again, Japan did not really like that, especially since afterwards ALT5 plan was announced . (Spoilers, ALT5 plan was a desperation plan and bad).
      Not sure how much of the setting you know, but the reason why the G-Bomb was developed was to give the bomb a gravitational lensing that would 'deflect' laser fire from the BETA and demolish them with a multi-dimensional blast (people didn't understand it that well). Yokohama base was established to determine the after affects to human habitation.
      Some spoilers for the aftermath of ALT5, but essentially all the land was transformed into salt plains, the oceans got screwed with some rising above sea level, and the entire Euro-Asia continent sank. Insult to injury, that still didn't kill all the BETA, but now their HIVES are at the bottom of the new oceans and are unreachable.

    even as someones whos favorite factions in miltary scifi is never the U.S.A. or U.S.A. equivelents, not because of the real life U.S. military sucking but because those factions are typically the most vanilla and hence kinda boring. I think the major issue is that U.S.A. factions are concieved as being kind of just generically overpowered, they have the basics and they have a better version of those basics than everyone else, its not the most innacurate i guess, but it is something that makes for a boring faction, the tutorial faction if you will.

      So this is highly debated: Its very stealthy against X-band radar, but its not very stealthy at all against L-band radar and the effectiveness of stealth is diminished the closer you get to targets. Combine that with datalinking and ground/air listening systems and stealth is not the be-all-end-all energy doctrine force multiplier it was thought to be unless you pair it with electroptical detection systems so you don't issue any active radar behaviour whatsoever (which of course, defeats your range advantage too so its lose/lose).

      They are designed around the same era. F-22A Raptor (as a TSF) was made in 2002-2005 and likely had inspiration from Armored Core 3, Gundam and Evangelion. Armored Core 4's mechs were made around 2003-2006 and took inspiration from Armored Core 3, Evangelion and Gundam. Both are also made in Japan.
      Another fun fact, Armored Core 4: For Answer has slight nods towards Muv Luv Alternative. One of the characters (from AC4 but not yet given a name) is named after two pivotal characters from Muv Luv.

    • @osakanone
      @osakanone Před 2 lety +7

      OK so there is actually a good reason you'd be wrong and why this is a very viable tactical decision: TSF seem to use AESA pulse-doppler radar just like real fighters do. If you hold your position, you're neither advancing toward or away from a target, so you're actually invisible against ground clutter because the doppler-effect isn't working and you're also not giving the opponent any movement contrast against the ground to detect you -- and thus electro-optical has to be used to detect you like an IRST (and moving very slowly or not at all would reduce or limit your thermal output, making you harder to detect on IRST too).
      This effect is why you need specialized air to ground functionality, and why air/air radars can't lock up ground targets without sensoric override from the host platform or support sensorifics in the deployment area. Its similar to cranking, and this was also one of the initial reasons the airforce got REALLY interested in VTOL planes for a while in the 60's. I'm legitimately impressed to see this effect exploited in a Japanese cartoon about giant robots.
      If I had to guess, I'd say the glowy parts like eyes and stuff are all some sort of active electro-optical sensor, like a kind of laser-sonar using a grid of range-finders to build a 3D picture of the environment -- which makes perfect sense given the insane ground proximity these things move at.
      Edit: TSF literally means "tactical surface fighter", I've learned so yeah weirdly logical.
